There seems to be more couples in the wrestling business now than ever before. There are also a number of wrestlers who used to be in a relationship that have since broken up and are now scattered around the world in different relationships. While this may be a sign that they have moved on from their past, some grudges may still exist. Obviously, the way that their relationship came to an end would have had an impact on whether or not they are able to remain friends. Since some of these couples decided to break up because the other one was unfaithful or they couldn't remain together because of the way the company was treating them, it is easy to see why some animosity and mixed feelings can come about.

There are a number of former lovers who have gone their separate ways over the past few years. Many were unable to remain friends and now it is thought that they can not even be in the same room together. In these cases it is usually because the breakup was messy and involved hurt feelings and betrayal. On the flip side, there are also a number of former couples who have remained close friends since their breakup and some of them still actually work together in WWE. These breakups were usually caused by scheduling conflicts or the simple realization that the relationship was going nowhere.

The following list looks at just eight former wrestling couples who can't stand each other anymore as well as eight who have remained good friends.

16 Avoid Each Other: Charlotte And Alberto Del Rio

via pwpix.net

Many of the WWE Universe were unaware that Charlotte and Alberto Del Rio were anything more than colleagues before he made his relationship with Paige public and it then caused problems for Charlotte and her former PCB teammate.

Charlotte and Del Rio had been in a purely physical relationship ever since he returned in October 2015 but when he revealed he was dating Paige in the spring of 2016 Charlotte was less than impressed. Luckily, Charlotte and Paige didn't have to work together on WWE TV afterward and since Paige's return the duo have been on opposite brands, it's safe to say that she isn't exactly happy with Del Rio right now either, so it's probably a good thing that he left WWE at the end of 2016.

15 Still Friends: John Cena And Mickie James

via sportswallah.com

Mickie James was engaged to former Spirit Squad member Kenny Dykstra before she began working with John Cena on-screen back in 2008. This led to encounters between Cena and James which then went on to cost James her fiance and then Dykstra his job.

Cena didn't want to continue the relationship after this and instead decided to marry his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Huberdeau. James was moved over to SmackDown and quietly released before she had a memorable stint in TNA, but she returned to the company back in 2017 and has since had to walk on the Raw brand alongside Cena and the duo can now be considered friends. James even commented that she would love to work with Cena's new fiance Nikki Bella.

14 Avoid Each Other: Liv Morgan And Enzo Amore

via foxnews.com

Enzo Amore and Liv Morgan were in a relationship for a number of years and it was even reported that Amore helped Morgan to land her WWE try-out after the couple met while they were both working in Hooters. The relationship between the former Cruiserweight Champion and the current SmackDown star came to an end late last year when it was alleged that Amore cheated on Morgan with an exotic dancer.

It was well-known that Enzo had a problem with strip clubs, Morgan didn't take the news well and decided to not only update memes about how happy she was to be out of the relationship, but also quickly moved on to former United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate. It's safe to say that Liv was probably happy when Enzo was released from the company back in January.

13 Still Friends: Paige And Alberto Del Rio

Via popculture.com

It may have been one of the best-known wrestling relationships of 2017, but Paige and Alberto Del Rio were unable to make it down the aisle while they were together, and after the issues that they were having personally it made more sense for them to go their separate ways at the end of last year.

The couple broke up before Paige returned to WWE back in November but both stars still keep tabs on each other's career and hope that the other one will still do well. It is reported that Vince McMahon wants Del Rio to make a return to the company where he found fame, so the former couple could be reunited in WWE once again in the near future, which would definitely be interesting.

12 Avoid Each Other: Emma And Zack Ryder

via twitter.com

Emma was once the only Australian female wrestler in WWE and one that had so much potential before her release last year. Zack Ryder saw her potential while they were both working down in NXT and they began a relationship, one that came to an end behind closed door's back in 2017.

Following the WWE draft when Emma and Ryder were split up, the couple was unable to continue their relationship and without officially revealing that they had broken up, Ryder began sharing images online of him with his new girlfriend Chelsea Green. Emma never spoke publicly about the split and the duo wasn't able to remain friends after the split either, which is sad since they looked like the perfect couple.

11 Still Friends: Carmella And Big Cass

via catch-newz.com

Carmella and Big Cass dated while they were working together in NXT as part of a faction alongside Enzo Amore. Cass was then promoted to the main roster without Carmella and she was then drafted over to SmackDown while Cass remained on Raw, which put a strain on their relationship when it came to finding time to spend together.

The couple became part of Total Divas for the latest series following Cass's knee injury and this was when the couple decided that they couldn't keep fighting for their relationship anymore. Incredibly, this was after they had bought a house together, but they both wanted different things. Despite the circumstances that surrounded their sudden breakup, the couple still cares about each other and have been able to remain civil throughout.

10 Avoid Each Other: Melina And John Morrison

via marriedwiki.com

Many of the WWE Universe will remember John Morrison and Melina as two-thirds of MNM for a number of years in WWE before the couple decided to go it alone. Melina is a former Women's and Divas Champion while Morrison is a former Intercontinental Champion but he has had much more success outside of WWE since his departure.

Melina and Morrison met when they were both part of Tough Enough before they made their WWE debut and dated for a decade before they split back in 2015. This was after Melina shared Morrison's prescription for erectile dysfunction online as a way to humiliate him. The Lucha Underground star has since moved on to a relationship with fellow wrestler Taya Valkyrie and the couple is due to marry later this year, Melina unsurprisingly remains single.

9 Still Friends: Maria And CM Punk

via youtube.com

Maria came into WWE around the same time as CM Punk and the couple hit it off straight away and were reported to be a couple back in 2005. Obviously given Punk's dating history he was never going to be able to have a lengthy relationship but despite their relationship coming to an end, Maria has only ever had good things to say about her ex.

Maria still holds a flame to what is thought to have been her first love and the duo are said to still be friends. As you'll see further down this list, Punk doesn't make a habit of remaining friends with his ex's, so he and Maria must have had something special while it lasted.

8 Avoid Each Other: Chris Sabin And Velvet Sky

via skyrock.com

Chris Sabin and Velvet Sky weren't in a relationship for very long and at one point were even able to work together on Impact Tapings back in 2014 when Sky and Sabin entered a feud of sorts. Their relationship lasted about as long as their feud since it was later reported that Sky had moved on to a relationship with former WWE Tag Team Champion Bubba Ray Dudley.

Dudley had a stint in Impact Wrestling as Bully Ray which is where he met Sky and the couple then began a relationship. Sabin didn't take this well and the couple had a very public Twitter exchange and have decided to stay away from each other since. This probably wasn't the best way for them to end their relationship.

7 Still Friends: Sable And Marc Mero

Via Flickr.com

Sable is a former Women's Champion, but she only came to WWE after she was brought to the attention of the company by her husband at the time Marc Mero. Even though Sable and Mero's relationship was affected by the fact that she became a popular star and he didn't, this hasn't affected their friendship outside of the ring.

The couple was once married before they divorced back in 2004 and Sable then moved on to marry Brock Lesnar, but Mero adopted Sable's daughter from her first marriage who's called Mariah so she and her former spouse have been able to remain friends over the past few years so that they give their daughter a positive environment to grow up in, which is quite noble.

6 Avoid Each Other: Stone Cold Steve Austin And Debra

Via Pinterest.com

Stone Cold Steve Austin and former WWE Diva Debra Marshall met while they were both part of the company and began dating in the late 1990s before they officially married back in 2000. Their marriage was quite short-lived after it was revealed that there was a domestic dispute between Debra and Austin and the former World Champion then filed for divorce.

Debra has since revealed that Austin hit her on three occasions and she was persuaded by WWE to cover it up and to wear makeup so that no one found out. Austin and Debra went their separate ways following the divorce and she hasn't returned to the business sense, instead deciding to spend her time helping women who have been affected by domestic violence much like she was.

5 Still Friends: Goldust And Terri Runnels

via dailywrestlingnews.com

Terri Runnels and Goldust were one of the best on-screen pairings of The Attitude Era as it seemed as though they were a perfect match for each other. This could be because they were husband and wife in real life. Their marriage was another thing that was destroyed by the wrestling business after it was revealed that Runnels cheated on her husband with another wrestler.

Runnels later admitted that Goldust's father Dusty had been spreading rumours about her and made Goldust believe that she was a gold digger and that she had already been unfaithful, which led to her going ahead with it. The couple has a child together and even though they didn't get along for a while after their divorce, it is said that they are considered to be close friends now.

4 Avoid Each Other: Beth Phoenix And CM Punk

via mmafighting.com

CM Punk has quite the dating resume and this won't be the last time he is mentioned on this list, but this entry centers around his relationship with former Women's Champion and now WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. The couple dated for a while while they were working together in the company, but it wasn't a relationship that ended on good terms.

Punk did an interview a while after his relationship ended and didn't have anything nice to say about Phoenix as he recalled that she just wanted a boyfriend and she didn't care who that person actually was. Luckily, Phoenix has since moved on to a relationship with former WWE star Edge and she and Punk don't continue to make contact with one another.

3 Still Friends: Alicia Fox And Wade Barrett

via youtube.com

Alicia Fox is now considered to be a veteran in WWE after her lengthy spell with the company, but she hasn't been as successful in her personal life since her only high profile relationship came to an abrupt end back in 2014.

Alicia Fox and former King of the Ring winner Wade Barrett were once seen as a couple until Barrett decided that Fox just wasn't the person that he envisioned his future with. The couple explained the reasons for their split on an episode of Total Divas and despite Alicia finding it hard to deal with, Barrett and the former Divas Champion decided that they would be able to remain friends. The British Star has since left the company but it's likely that he and Fox probably kept in touch.

2 Avoid Each Other: Lita And CM Punk

Via Pinterest.com

CM Punk and Lita dated for a number of years up until 2013 when it was revealed that Punk was in a relationship with AJ Lee, whom he later married. Lita and Punk's relationship came to an end when it was revealed that he and Lee had been cheating behind her back and she was less than impressed.

It was reported that Lita was so angry about the way that their relationship ended, that she refused to return to WWE for her Hall of Fame induction in 2014 if Punk was still part of the company. Luckily, Punk had already walked out at this point so Lita was able to take her rightful place amongst wrestling's elite. It's shocking since the year before he had attended the ceremony with Lita as his guest, but it just shows how much can change in a year.

1 Still Friends: Dolph Ziggler And Nikki Bella

Via directwrestling.com

Perhaps the best example of two former lovers who were able to put the past behind them and become friends is Dolph Ziggler and Nikki Bella. The couple dated up until 2012 when they broke up and Nikki moved on to a relationship with John Cena. Ziggler has dated a number of women since but has been unable to fill the void that Nikki left, but the couple had been able to continue working together because Ziggler just wants Nikki to be happy.

Nikki and Dolph have worked together on Total Divas and in the ring since they tagged together at a number of live events last year, and there is no resentment between them following their breakup and both stars are now happy to remain friends.
