Wrestling fans love seeing matches that are hard-hitting, brutal, and convey a story properly. A lot goes into producing a great match, but one thing is common which is that most people don't like awful finishes. Because even though a match can easily get five-stars in terms of its wrestling quality, at the end of the day, people will only remember how it ended.

In WWE's history, many matches were quite good until the final few minutes. Usually, these types of matches end in a DQ finish or something controversial like that. There have been plenty of great matches soured by awful finishes.

10 The Undertaker Vs Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2015)

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar had their WrestleMania XXX rematch at the SummerSlam pay-per-view after The Deadman cost Lesnar his title shot against Seth Rollins at Battleground 2015.

These two had a very hard-hitting match at SummerSlam and WWE wanted Undertaker to win this match. But its finish was quite controversial. The Phenom tapped out to Lesnar, and the match ended only for the referee to restart it again because he hadn't seen that. Then, Undertaker hit Brock with a low-blow and won the match with his submission move.

9 Roman Reigns Vs Kevin Owens (Royal Rumble 2021)

"The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens had a great match at TLC last year. WWE extended their rivalry into Royal Rumble 2021 where they faced each other once again in a Last Man Standing match.

The finish was botched, and it ruined the match for most fans. Paul Heyman couldn't unlock the handcuffs in time and it led to an embarrassing moment for both wrestlers. The referee stopped the 10 count after it became clear that the scheduled winner Reigns wouldn't be freed from the handcuffs in time.

8 Brock Lesnar Vs John Cena (Extreme Rules 2012)

Brock Lesnar's return match in 2012 happened against John Cena. Lesnar was the hottest thing in WWE at that time, and everyone was excited to see him back in the company once again.

But when Cena defeated Lesnar, most fans were confused. There wasn't much justification for John to win this match and it almost destroyed Lesnar's momentum. The match was good and the only change it needed was the finish.

7 Triple H Vs The Rock (Judgement Day 2000)

Judgement Day 2000 featured a 60-minute Iron Man match between Triple H and The Rock. The match had many great moments and it was one of the best shows of that year.

The falls were tied at 5-5 and then DX came to Triple H's aid. This led to the return of Undertaker in a new gimmick known as the American Badass. He took out X-Pac and Road Dogg and also attacked Triple H with his finisher. The special guest referee, Shawn Michaels, unfortunately only saw Undertaker's attack on The Game and disqualified The Rock. The time limit ended and the final score was 6-5, and as a result, HHH won the title. While the match was good, the disqualification finish wasn't liked by most fans.

6 Shawn Michaels Vs Mankind (In Your House 1996)

Shawn Michaels and Mankind put on a show-stealer match at In Your House 10: Mind Games in 1996. It was for the WWE Championship and, after 25+ minutes of great performance, the match ended in a disqualification.

While this didn't ruin the entire match, a lot of fans were quite upset. It was Foley's first WWE Championship match and, in the end, Michaels retained the title because of a disqualification caused by Vader.

5 Sasha Banks Vs Asuka (Extreme Rules 2020)

Sasha Banks vs Asuka was the best match at Extreme Rules last year. The only problem with this match was the finish. Asuka knocked out the match referee by spitting the green mist in his face.

Banks' former best friend, Bayley, took advantage of the situation and attacked Asuka. She later put on the referee's shirt and declared Sasha the winner after she pinned the champ. Although, the match was declared no-contest by WWE.

Sting's debut match took place at WrestleMania 31 against Triple H. After intervention from both D-Generation X and the New World Order, this match finally ended with Triple H pinning The Stinger.

This match was much bigger than WWE thought, but they just ended up making it a WWE vs WCW thing which didn't make much sense. Sting should've won as it would've sent the fans home happy.
