Samoa Joe has been working at the Monday Night Raw commentary table as he continues to recover from a broken thumbthat's kept him out of action for several months now.

The veteran superstar hasn't wrestled since the Sept. 9 episode of Raw, where he and Ricochet fell to eventual King of the Ring winner Baron Corbin in a triple threat match. Dating back to the Aug. 20 episode of SmackDown, Joe has only appeared in two televised matches.

Since being called to the main roster, Samoa Joe has suffered numerous injuries. This included a foot problem that forced him to miss three months at the beginning of 2018 - including the 2018 Royal Rumble.

This is obviously frustrating for Joe, who has all the makings to be a perennial main eventer in the WWE. But the patience may finally pay off once he's cleared and back in the ring.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), WWE is going to turn Samoa Joe into a babyface real soon. And once he returns, they'll be placing him in a "main event feud."

With Joe set to enter the main event picture, that means a feud with Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins could be in the works. The former is the WWE Champion, while The Architect recently pulled off a monumental heel turn.

But would WWE place Joe in a feud with Lesnar right now? It's been suggested that the Beast Incarnate will face either Tyson Fury or Cain Velasquez at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa Bay, so it wouldn't make much sense to pit Joe against Lesnar if the program is going to be short. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Samoa Joe Is Overdue For A Major Push

The fans have been behind Samoa Joe for quite some time - even as a heel - but the company has held off in giving him a true main event push. It's long overdue for Samoa Joe to be in the prime spotlight, and there's no doubt that he'd excel in a feud with either Lesnar or Rollins. His return to the ring can't come soon enough, because Samoa Joe's eventual face turn and push will be the ultimate game changer that Raw desperately needs.
