Hell In A Cell is the next pay-per-view event on WWE's calendar and, although it's unusual at this time of year, many fans are probably already getting excited, as it features one of the most anticipated gimmick matches of the year. Hell In A Cell is synonymous with brutality and intensity, as this particular PPV generates unique emotions in fans.

The main events of Hell In A Cell are usually top quality matches. However, there have also been some main event matches that have failed to live up to expectations and turned out to be a complete flop.

10 Seth Rollins Vs. The Fiend (2019)

Seth Rollins Vs. The Fiend At Hell In A Cell 2019

Undoubtedly, among the last 10 Hell In A Cell main events, this match between Seth Rollins and The Fiend is easily the worst. They fought under a rather peculiar red lighting, which didn't really add anything to the bout.

The main reason no one liked this match was the inexplicable and illogical ending. Seth Rollins attacked The Fiend with all sorts of objects, including a sledgehammer, but suddenly the referee stopped the bout and there was no winner. To make matters worse, seconds later The Fiend got up like nothing happened and performed his Mandible Claw on Rollins.

9 CM Punk Vs. Ryback (2012)

The main event of Hell In A Cell 2012 featured WWE Heavyweight Champion CM Punk taking on Ryback. This bout was slow-paced and although it had some very violent spots, it turned out to be boring.

The worst part was that CM Punk looked like a coward and needed help from referee Brad Maddox to retain the title. Maddox said he did it because he wanted to be famous. Although some time later Paul Heyman said he paid Maddox to help Punk, which is absurd, to say the least.

8 Braun Strowman Vs. Roman Reigns (2018)

On September 16, 2018, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns collided in a Universal Title match inside the Cell. Frankly the match was nothing special, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman simply failed to deliver an epic match.

On the other hand, several interesting things happened during the match. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre had a very entertaining confrontation against Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins outside the Cell. Best of all was the return of Brock Lesnar, who entered the structure and destroyed both Reigns and Strowman.

7 Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (2013)

Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan faced off for the vacant WWE Heavyweight Championship with Shawn Michaels as special referee. The match was quite entertaining and had some great spots. However, for many the match did not live up to expectations, as Bryan and Orton are both terrific performers and could have put on a better show.

The ending was controversial, as Shawn Michaels hit his Sweet Chin Music on Bryan, then The Viper took advantage of the moment to pin Bryan and win the match and the title.

6 Charlotte Flair Vs. Sasha Banks (2016)

This was the first ever women's Hell In A Cell match, as RAW Women's Champion Sasha Banks faced off against Charlotte Flair. This match was solid enough, but it's mostly remembered for its historic significance. Perhaps the ending was predictable, as you could see it coming that Charlotte would walk out of the Cell with the gold in her hands.

Regardless, it was still an impressive showing for the women. Sasha and Charlotte did a great job and they put their bodies on the line to entertain the fans, which is truly admirable.

5 Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (2014)

Former partners Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose collided in the main event of Hell In A Cell 2014. This match generated a lot of hype and the truth is that it lived up to expectations.

It was an extremely violent and chaotic bout, Rollins and Ambrose did a magnificent job and put on an amazing show. However, the ending was not the best. Bray Wyatt showed up and attacked Dean Ambrose, allowing Seth Rollins to win the match. It felt like Wyatt's interference ruined the match. Perhaps it would have been better if Ambrose and Rollins had finished their business properly.

4 John Cena Vs. Alberto Del Rio Vs. CM Punk (2011)

John Cena defended the WWE Heavyweight Title in a Triple Threat match against CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio. It was a very interesting 24-minute affair, with a good pace and awesome spots. All three had their moment to shine, but in the end, it was Alberto Del Rio who got the win.

Del Rio got rid of John Cena and went one-on-one against Punk, they fought with momentum for a few moments until Del Rio managed to pin Punk to win the Championship for the second time in his career.

3 Randy Orton Vs. Drew McIntyre (2020)

This was an amazing hard-hitting match, very intense and exciting. It was dramatic from start to finish, especially when they climbed to the top of the Cell and fought fiercely. Both Orton and McIntyre took brutal bumps, especially McIntyre, who fell from the side of the Cell and landed through a table. At the end, Randy Orton won the match to obtain his 14th world title.

2 Shane McMahon Vs. Kevin Owens (2017)

This was a Falls Count Anywhere Hell In A Cell Match between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon. The bout lasted 39 minutes and was slow-paced, but still absolutely insane.

It's really impressive how these two men were willing to do anything to put on a good show, especially Shane, who performed a leap of faith from the top of the Cell and took a horrifying bump. Fortunately for KO, Sami Zayn was in the right place at the right time to help him dodge Shane and win the match.

1 Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker (2015)

On October 25, 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker faced each other in the main event of Hell In A Cell 2015. The match had violence and brutality at its finest. In fact, it seemed like we had gone back to the Attitude Era.

Both Lesnar and 'Taker were ruthless and delivered a mind-blowing match. The Deadman gave a titanic effort, but in the end, it was Lesnar who got the win after performing an F-5.
