WWE legend Kamala is currently on life support after undergoing emergency surgery during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Kamala was something of an icon when it came to the 1980s and early 1990s in WWE. The former Superstar competed on and off for the company over the course of many years and was almost always involved in high profile rivalries. James Harris, the man behind the Kamala character, did battle with the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and even Andre the Giant during his prime.

Since retiring from the ring though Harris's health has deteriorated. The former wrestler has struggled with diabetes since the early '90s and in 2011 had one of his legs amputated due to complications from the disease. The following year he had to have his other leg amputated also. He revealed a couple of years afterwards that he currently relies on a disability check just to get by.

Now it seems that Kamala's health has once again taken a turn for the worse. His step daughter, Juanita James, revealed the news on Facebook informing fans that he had under gone emergency surgery and was currently on life support. She also mentioned that his good friend and fellow WWE alumni Koko B. Ware - real name James Ware - was at the hospital with Harris for moral support.

On Monday Juanita took to Facebook again to respond to fans wanting an update on her step father's condition. James said that while Kamala is still currently on life support, he has shown signs of improvement. While the situation is obviously a horrible one at this time there are a couple of heart warming things to come out of it. One is the outreach of the fans to Kamala's step-daughter, and even more notably that the former star's old friend from the business still rushed to his side all these years after they wrestled together.

At the time of typing this all we know is the information detailed above and that Kamala currently still needs the help of life support as he attempts to recover from emergency surgery. The wrestling world has its collective fingers crossed and here's hoping that the next update to come out of camp Kamala will be a good one.
