A highlight of the nutty partnership of Kane and Daniel Bryan in 2012 was when they attended an anger management class. In a priceless moment, Kane matter-of-factly detailed his entire ridiculous backstory from being locked up by father Paul Bearer to the constant attacks on people. It worked because it highlighted just how nutty Kane's history has been, and yet he kept getting pushed in WWE.

One has to credit Glenn Jacobs for making this character work so well, from his original masked persona to now being mayor of his hometown. But over the course of two decades and several eras in WWE, Kane has been involved in more than his share of weird angles. It's not just bad matches or feuds but stuff that is, frankly, downright confusing. From character bits to poor angles, there are just some things that never made sense about Kane's career, and it's remarkable he stayed so strong in WWE despite all the nonsense.

10 He Can Talk?

For his first two years, Kane was a silent and brooding figure with the idea he was too scarred in a childhood fire to ever speak. He finally began talking with a weird voice coder, which was odd, but it was his character. Then, without it, he began speaking with "Suck It" during his partnership with X-Pac.

He kept up the silent act. But starting in 2002, Kane was suddenly speaking normally as if it was natural. His keeping silent for so long was a weird thing to drop in Kane's act.

Over the decades, Kane has earned numerous accolades in WWE. He's held the tag titles a dozen times along with U.S., ECW, and World titles. This is why it's so surprising Kane only held the WWE Title once and not even for a full day.

He defeated Steve Austin in a "First Blood" match at the 1998 King of the Ring to become WWF Champion. The very next night on RAW, Kane lost the title back to Austin and hasn't held it since. It's strange that one of WWE's biggest names was only trusted with the top title for a day.

8 "Corporate" Kane

Shifting up the act can be good, The Undertaker proved that with his American Badass gimmick. But transforming Kane into the McMahon's corporate stooge was just baffling. Seeing Kane in a suit and tie talking normally and in an authority position never seemed right.

It was meant to make him The Authority's enforcer, but Kane's act just didn't fit the position, so there's little wonder that WWE dropped the act. Glenn Jacobs may handle the role of a real-life mayor, but it never suited Kane.

7 Going After Jericho Over Coffee

Kane Jericho Coffee

Kane has had his share of weird feuds before, but this is just...off. It's one thing to go after Zack Ryder to try and drive John Cena to the dark side. But that's nothing compared to when Kane and Chris Jericho began a brutal feud started by the heinous act of….Jericho spilling coffee on Kane.

It's one of the lamest excuses for a feud ever, and there's little wonder the two men couldn't make the program work off this confusing note.

6 The Pete Rose Obsession

Of all the rivals in Kane's career, Pete Rose is the weirdest. It began at WrestleMania XIV when the baseball legend insulted the Boston crowd, and Kane Tombstoned him to cheers. The next year, Rose dressed up like the San Diego Chicken to attack Kane.

The year after that, he got the chicken to be a distraction to try and get Kane. They had another encounter in 2010 as even Kane doesn't understand this "unhealthy obsession" with the former Reds star.

5 The "Imposter"

Imposter Kane

When Glenn Jacobs made noise about retiring in 2006, WWE didn't want to lose the Kane character. On the May 29, 2006, episode of Raw, Kane was confronted by a man in his old costume. The idea would be this was the real Kane, held captive for years by this unmasked figure.

But Jacobs decided to stay, so almost as soon as this imposter showed up he vanished. It was actually Luke Gallows under that mask, and maybe it's better he avoided this weird attempt to retcon the entire character.

4 The Undertaker Relationship

Relationships between siblings are complex, but The Brothers of Destruction are beyond dysfunctional. It can't be counted how many times each has openly attempted to kill the other in fights, brawls, and Buried Alive matches.

The brothers go back and forth, putting their feud on hold to join forces against others then they go right back to beating on each other. It's hard to keep track of whether they're enemies or allies as these two have no issue spilling each other's blood and then teaming up to dominate those unlikely wrestlers in their paths.

3 The Lita Marriage

Try to follow this one. Kane and Matt Hardy had a wild feud, which ended with Kane forcing Lita to marry him. Kane went around with Lita as his slave. The Big Red Machine was clearly the bad guy here. Then Lita revealed she was pregnant with his child and suddenly Kane became protective of her.

Snitsky then entered the picture to inadvertently cause Lita to "miscarriage," and Kane was the hero defending her honor. Then Lita dumps him to join Edge to make Kane the wronged party and the entire thing was utterly confusing for fans.

2 Katie Vick

It's one of the dumbest storylines of the Ruthless Aggression era (which is saying something). To spark up a weird feud, HHH accused Kane of causing the death of his high school girlfriend, Katie Vick. This led to the infamous "funeral hall" scene, but the storyline was terrible even without that.

Why would fans cheer on Kane after he was implicated in such an act? How was bringing it up again supposed to make him the babyface? Was it worth the heel heat for Triple H to make these wild accusations and then act them out in strange dramatizations to taunt The Big Red Machine? For whatever reason, WWE decided to greenlight a necrophilia angle. There's little wonder why both men hated the entire feud.

1 Why He Wore A Mask

When Kane debuted, the story was that he wore the mask to cover his horribly scarred face. They played on it with at least one occasion when someone saw Kane unmasked and reacting in horror, though the audience wasn't able to see what he saw until an infamous episode of Raw in June 2003. So when Kane was forced to unmask in 2003, fans expected something horrible.

Instead, it was a regular looking guy who showed no scarring. He keeps going back to the mask even though it's not needed, so aside from being a fashion statement, his wearing it is odd.
