Whenever Raw has an anniversary then you can rest assured it is going to be huge, memorable, and a downright eventful night. After ten years, twenty years, the 1000th episode, all huge landmarks that those behind the scenes at WWE quite rightly made a big deal of. Well, the next anniversary on the calendar for Raw is its 25th, and we are now less than two weeks away from the show. The build to it began a while ago when it was revealed that The Undertaker will be making his long-awaited return at the show, and now comebacks and returns are being announced thick and fast. Stone Cold, D-Generation X, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, even Bruce Prichard and WWE seem to have buried the hatchet as Brother Love will be present. There will undoubtedly be surprises though, and here are five names we’d love to see come back for the show that haven’t yet been announced.
5. Trish Stratus
Since the 25th anniversary of Raw is just two weeks away, that means the first ever history-making women’s Royal Rumble match is a little under three weeks away. As is becoming abundantly clear to everyone as we inch ever closer there aren’t enough women in WWE to fill all 30 spots. Becky Lynch even admitted that she’s the last female from SmackDown Live to announce her entry into the match. That means a lot of former stars are going to get calls to return. Many will likely be saved as surprises for the night itself, but a couple of big names could be revealed on the anniversary Raw. There would be no returning name bigger than Trish Stratus and her presence would add so much to both the Rumble and the Raw anniversary show.
4. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho is an extremely busy man. In fact, for the past couple of weeks, he has been even busier than ever before as he has tried and succeeded to open up the world of New Japan Pro Wrestling to more fans in the western hemisphere. Even though Y2J seems set to continue his work with New Japan, fans are still trying to figure out when exactly the six-time World Champion will next appear in WWE. Thanks to dates with his band Fozzy it’s currently looking very unlikely that Jericho will appear in the Royal Rumble match or at WrestleMania 34. Raw’s 25th anniversary may be one night that he has free. Is it really an anniversary if Raw isn’t Jericho?
3. Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon rarely appears on WWE television anymore. In fact, the last time we saw him was when he came to SmackDown Live in order to give Kevin Owens a dressing down and wound up receiving the beating of a lifetime. Even though he’s not in front of the cameras, you can rest assured that the boss is backstage, and it really wouldn’t feel like a big deal on Raw’s 25th anniversary if we didn’t get a segment involving Mr. McMahon. Plus, we have already been told that Stone Cold will be on the show. If the two old foes don’t have some sort of on-screen interaction then WWE will have really missed a trick.
2. The Rock
Throughout the entirety of 2017, we did not get to see The Rock physically show up in WWE. There aren’t many times that happens as The People’s Champ usually shows up at WrestleMania at the very least. It isn’t because Rock is done with pro wrestling either, it’s simply because he is basically in a new film every single week. Someone who owes so much to the wrestling industry with members of his family still competing in the ring today is not going to miss Raw’s 25th anniversary if he can avoid it. He’s not called the most electrifying man in all of entertainment for no reason, and if that music hits on Jan. 22, 2018, you can rest assured that the roof will come off of that arena.
1. CM Punk
Let us beat around the bush no longer. As always, there is only one name that tops most WWE fans returning Superstar wish list, and that man is CM Punk. If you think the roof will be lifted off if and when The Rock’s music hits, it will be shot into orbit if Punk is present for the event. In the grand scheme of things, it seems as if The Second City Saint’s relationship with wrestling is far from fixed, but you never know. For the first time in the four years that Punk has been away from WWE, things have started to quiet down a little bit. Now would be the best time to take fans by surprise and make his triumphant return. It doesn’t have to be for good either. Just one night on Raw and he can then return to trying to make something of his UFC career.
