Chris Jericho may be with the rival AEW promotion now, but he's undoubtedly going to earn a WWE Hall of Fame induction someday.

Jericho has gone up against the vast majority of the wrestling legends who were active in the 21st century. The list stretches on and includes Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Edge, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, and The Undertaker, among others.

But Jericho never got his chance to go up against some of the WWE's other premier stars while the opportunity was there. As such, we're left wondering how these epic Jericho dream matches could have gone down.

Before we start, I just want to point out that tag team matches, battle royals, and Royal Rumble matches won't be counted here. This list is strictly for superstars Jericho never faced one on one.

10 Mr. McMahon

via EWrestling

Mr. McMahon only wrestled sporadically during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras, namely with the top main event stars like 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Triple H, and others.

Chris Jericho was only a mid-card star in the early goings of his WWE carer, so he didn't get much TV time with Vince. They did square off in a tag team match during a SmackDown 2001 taping, where Jericho and Chris Benoit defeated Vince and Austin. But otherwise, Jericho never went toe to toe with his boss in the ring.

9 Big Boss Man

via: WWE

The WWE Hall of Fame inductee spent time in the rival WCW promotion before returning to Vince's company in 1998. This was a year before Jericho would make his WWE debut, so the timing was there for the two legends to face off.

But they never once crossed paths in the middle of the ring, at least on television. Jericho claimed on Twitter that he did face the Hall of Famer at a house show in Winnipeg, but this doesn't count as an official match. Big Boss Man stayed in WWE until 2003, with Jericho established as a main event star by then.

8 Jim Duggan

The WWE Hall of Famer was at his peak in the 80s, but 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan was still a big draw throughout the 90s and 2000s as well. He joined WCW in 1994 and lasted there for seven years, but not once did he and Jericho square off.

Duggan rejoined WWE in 2005 and did his part in trying to help younger talents get over. But this all-time great never went up against Jericho. They were both participants in the 2009 and 2010 Royal Rumble events, but that was it. No Jericho vs. Duggan showdown whatsoever. What a shame.

7 Lex Luger

Luger was supposed to be the next big thing in WWE after Hulk Hogan left the company in the early '90s, but the former wasn't able to get fully over with the fans. He joined WCW in 1995, and Jericho would enter the promotion a year later.

But Luger was pushed as a main event star from the very beginning and was widely involved in a feud with the New World Order. Jericho, on the other hand, was among the many talented Cruiserweights that WCW underused. Jericho and Luger never squared off in the ring, as the latter decided to join TNA following WCW's demise in 2001. By then, Jericho was already among the top main event draws in WWE.

6 The British Bulldog

Via: WWE.com

There were a couple of instances where a Jericho-British Bulldog Dream match could have happened. The latter came to WCW in 1997 and stayed there for a year, failing to receive much of a push.

The British Bulldog would return to WWE in 1999, the same year that Jericho joined the company. The Feb. 21, 2000 episode of Raw saw British Bulldog and Kurt Angle defeated Jericho and Chyna in a tag team match. But they never fought in a singles match, which is a true shame. It would have been something of epic proportions.

5 Bob Backlund

via WWE.com

Before Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, Bob Backlund and Bruno Sammartino were the premier main event draws in professional wrestling. Backlund wrestled the odd matches near the end of his career in the late '90s and early 2000s, but none of them were one-on-one showdowns with Jericho.

Backlund and Angle teamed up in a losing effort to Jericho and Tazz on the May 14, 2000 SmackDown taping. But unfortunately, Y2J never got his shot to beat this wrestling icon one-on-one. Boy, would that have been one epic "passing of the torch" moment.

4 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper

via youtube.com

This would have been a showdown for the ages between two Canadian superstars. Both Jericho and 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper were among the most charismatic and superb trash talkers. Could you imagine the promos these guys would have cut together? It would have been a sight to behold.

We did get to see Jericho go up against 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, and Ricky Steamboat in a handicap elimination tag match at WrestleMania XXV, where Y2J emerged victorious. It was one of the final matches of Piper's career, but we unfortunately never saw him go one on one with Jericho.

Piper was in WCW during the late '90s, around the same time as Jericho, and he did return for a brief period in 2003. The chances were there for WWE to give us this dream singles bout. Too bad we didn't get to see it.

3 Sting

via rollingstone.com

Sting was the main face of WCW during the '90s, and he spent several years feuding with Hulk Hogan and the New World Order. Meanwhile, guys like Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio were getting buried and held back by the veteran superstars on WCW. So Jericho vs. Sting never happened there.

The Vigilante would join TNA following WCW's demise. He finally joined WWE in 2015, but Jericho was on a hiatus up to this point. Sting only wrestled four matches for WWE before a neck injury forced him to retire in 2016. Had he avoided the injury and wrestled longer, perhaps Jericho vs. Sting would have happened in WWE.

Sting hasn't fully closed the door on a WWE return. Could Jericho and company recruit him to AEW? Never say never, we suppose.

2 Bret Hart

via Youtube

Following the infamous Montreal Screwjob, Bret Hart signed with WCW in 1997 and saw a big push right off the bat. Again, this was happening while Jericho was stuck as a lower-card superstar in WCW.

Hart wouldn't return to the WWE until 2010, a decade after concussions forced him to retire. Now, Hart and John Cena would defeat Jericho and Edge in a 2010 tag team match on Raw, but that wasn't a singles match. It doesn't exactly count.

At SummerSlam 2010, Hart, Jericho, Edge, Cena, R-Truth, John Morrison and Daniel Bryan teamed up (Team WWE) to defeat The Nexus. That was a treat, but it wasn't' anything close to being a Jericho vs. Hart dream match that every fan would love to see.

1 Brock Lesnar

via Sportskeeda

It's impossible to believe, given that both superstars have spent close to two decades each in the WWE. But nope, Jericho and Lesnar have never squared off in the ring - not even in a tag team match.

For what it's worth, Jericho confronted Lesnar after the latter defeated Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2016 - believing The Beast had intentionally injured The Viper. But that wasn't a wrestling match that took place in the middle of the ring. And with Jericho signed with AEW, there's a high chance we'll never get to see him go up against Lesnar.
