WrestleMania is the pinnacle for many people's wrestling careers, with every WWE Superstar hoping to reach the top of the mountain at some stage in their careers, yet only a handful of talents actually get the accolade.

Over the past 35 WrestleMania events, there have been some amazing headline matches with various top tier wrestlers, legends, and Hall Of Famers all having had the honor of closing the show.

However, with only one WrestleMania a year and everyone fighting for the top spot, things become incredibly difficult, which means that several top WWE legends have missed out, and within this list, we will rank 10 that never headlined the show.

10 Rey Mysterio

The masked wrestler is one of the biggest names to have ever competed in WWE and is someone that - no matter what - has always remained incredibly popular among wrestling fans.

Mysterio has had some amazing moments at WrestleMania, with the stand out being his WrestleMania 32 match against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton, where he was able to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

However, WWE never went all the way with Mysterio, despite his popularity, and the masked wrestler has never headlined on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

9 CM Punk

While Rey Mysterio seems to have managed to accept never headlining WrestleMania in his career, one wrestler who didn't accept that fact was CM Punk, with the fact he hadn't closed WrestleMania being one of the reasons he walked away from the company.

Even though Punk got given big opportunities, such as facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania, he never actually closed the show, even though he was considered to be the best in the world by many people at that time.

There is no doubt that Punk should have been given a headline slot at some stage during his career, but things just never worked out for him, and it certainly remains a very sore point in an otherwise superb career.

8 Jeff Hardy

During a similar time as CM Punk's rise, Jeff Hardy was also rising to prominence with his singles career really taking off, with the Charismatic Enigma being one of the most popular wrestlers in the company.

His rise to the WWE Championship was an incredible one and Hardy certainly deserved the main event run that he got, however, when it came to WrestleMania, Jeff never got a prime position.

Jeff Hardy actually has one of the worst records in WrestleMania history in terms of wins and losses, but none of those big defeats ever managed to come in the headline slot.

7 Goldberg

Goldberg may have been a huge name in WCW that headlined countless major events, but he was never given the opportunity to close the show for WWE's biggest event, despite how much the company put into him.

Goldberg has headlined many top WWE PPVs, which is why it is quite surprising that he hasn't closed WrestleMania, especially since he has collided with Brock Lesnar twice on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

His best chance came at WrestleMania 20 against the Beast, but the fact that the world was well aware that both he and Lesnar were leaving the company put an end to that possibility.

6 Kane

The Big Red Monster is one of the greatest characters in wrestling history and was someone that WWE took very seriously as a top tier main event star when he first arrived as The Undertaker's evil brother.

If WWE had wanted to, they could very easily have built the brother vs brother match to headline WrestleMania, but that never happened, and Kane was never given the shot at closing the show.

Thankfully for Kane, he has had many brilliant WrestleMania moments throughout his career, so the fact he never actually got to headline the show isn't too bad.

5 Booker T

Booker T was one of the names from WCW that was actually taken seriously in WWE, with Booker getting a serious push from Vince McMahon who clearly saw something in him, but a push to the top spot didn't happen.

There was a lot of hype around Booker T at the time following the Invasion, as he was pushed as the top star from WCW, yet the company never capitalized on his popularity as well as they should have done.

Booker T came close to headlining when he faced Triple H at WrestleMania XIX, but even here WWE didn't give him the big moment he deserved, with Triple H picking up the win.

4 Sting

The Stinger spent the vast majority of his wrestling career outside of the WWE bubble, with the WCW icon only actually having one WrestleMania match to his name, which was a losing effort to Triple H.

However, when he finally did join WWE, if the company was smart they could have promoted a dream headline match between him and The Undertaker which would certainly have sold out the show.

Instead, WWE opted to have the storyline with Triple H, which ended up turning into a WWE vs WCW match, which, whilst it was cool, was a major missed opportunity.

3 Owen Hart

One of the greatest wrestlers of all time never headlining WrestleMania seems like a major surprise, but the truth of the matter is that WWE never really positioned Owen Hart in a storyline worthy of headlining WrestleMania.

Hart might have had one of the best WrestleMania matches of all time at WrestleMania X against Bret Hart in one of the best opening matches in the history of the show, but he never got to be in the closing match of the night.

Owen Hart was a brilliant, master technician inside the squared circle and was someone who the WWE Universe could really get behind. Had WWE wanted to, he would have made a great headliner.

2 Eddie Guerrero

Another legendary WWE Hall Of Famer you will be surprised to learn never headlined the biggest wrestling event of the year was Eddie Guerrero, who was never given the main event spot at WrestleMania.

Guerrero was one of the most talented men to ever lace up a pair of boots and was given some major moments against the likes of Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, but for some reason, he did not headline.

His tragic death in 2005 brought the wrestling world to a standstill, and had that upsetting moment not happened, the chances are that Guerrero would certainly have closed the show at some point.

1 Ric Flair

That's right, the two-time WWE Hall Of Famer, the Nature Boy, Ric Flair never headlined WrestleMania during his legendary career despite the fact that he was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Flair is someone who most wrestling fans might simply presume headlined the Grandest Stage Of Them All at some point during his career, but it was a moment that just never happened for him.

Flair had some massive matches at WrestleMania, including his unbelievable retirement match against Shawn Michaels, but for some reason Flair never managed to quite get that headline position on the card.
