WWE legends returning to the company always lead to some amazing moments. From a huge pop to a potential final run for a wrestler, it is always great to see someone make a return.

In this decade, WWE has had some amazing legends return to have great runs with the company. From The Rock to the Hardy Boyz, the decade has truly had some very special, and memorable moments.

However, that doesn't mean that every single return that has happened has been brilliant. Sometimes things just don't work out or WWE doesn't have plans, and within this article, we will take a look at 10 examples of legends who returned and didn't do much in this decade.

10 DDP

WWE has had DDP pop up a few times during this decade, and each time he has been given a thunderous response from the fans. With his yoga being immensely popular, DDP has enjoyed a new push of popularity and WWE could have capitalized on that.

Now, that chance has gone with DDP walking away from WWE to work with AEW. Already he has been used in a much smarter manner, in a way that has had a real impact, which WWE always failed to do.

9 Rikishi

Much like DDP, Rikishi has popped up a couple of times throughout this decade, and every time it has been incredibly forgettable. While Rikishi wasn't the biggest name of all time, he still had a very successful WWE career, earning a Hall Of Fame induction.

However, it seems that whenever WWE brings Rikishi back to Raw, the only thing they have for him to do is dance in the ring. Of course, this is what he is well remembered for, but surely there is more he can contribute than this?

8 Sting

Saying Sting did absolutely nothing when he finally appeared in WWE might be a little harsh. The Icon was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, had a WrestleMania match and competed for the WWE Championship.

However, there was a major feeling that he could have done so much more. Yes, everyone wanted to see him face The Undertaker, but it doesn't just stop there. WWE could have had Sting do plenty more, even after his injury, but instead opted against it, which is a massive wasted opportunity.

7 John Cena

John Cena has certainly entered the 'legend' phase of his WWE career, whether people want to admit that or not. Since he left the company to pursue work in Hollywood, whenever Cena has returned he does so in a legends spot.

While it is always great to see the leader of the Cenation, it is a shame that he hasn't done something a little more important. Whether that be a short-term feud with a top upcoming talent or even just a memorable one-off match. Sadly, his returns have all been a little forgettable.

6 Hulk Hogan

For this entry, we are specifically talking about what WWE has had Hulk Hogan do since he returned from being blacklisted by the company. When he returned, a lot of WWE fans didn't want to see him back, which is one of the reasons that the company hasn't done much with him.

However, the Hulkster really hasn't done anything of note, which is surprising considering his status and history with WWE. He is one of the biggest names of all time and WWE has restricted him to a few random appearances (mainly in Saudi Arabia) in order not to have him booed too heavily.

5 Rob Van Dam

When WWE announced that Rob Van Dam was returning to the company, the WWE Universe was very excited about the potential matches and what he might do. It is fair to say, expectations were lofty for his return.

While he started out being put in prominent matches, but he never got an actual meaningful feud. In the end, it was just a chance for RVD to showcase his in-ring talents, but without doing anything of any real purpose.

4 Kevin Nash

WWE got this one so very badly wrong, didn't they? Kevin Nash returning wasn't something anyone was expecting during CM Punk's big push as a top babyface, but WWE had big plans for the two of them to collide.

Sadly, that match never ended up happening and instead we got Triple H vs Kevin Nash. This was a blast from the Attitude Era past that absolutely nobody was asking for, and in the end, was just a total waste of time for everyone involved.

3 Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett returning to WWE is something that nobody ever really expected to see take place, which is why it was a massive deal when he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

He was then a surprise appearance at the 2019 Royal Rumble, which provided a very cool moment and he engaged in a brief feud with Elias. But since that point, nothing else has happened, which was a shame as there was more WWE could've done with him.

2 Dudley Boyz

Seeing the Dudley Boyz return to WWE was a massive moment from this decade that fans absolutely loved. One of the greatest tag teams of all time should have been treated as a massive deal, and for a couple of months, they were.

However, that didn't last and unfortunately, they ended up feeling unimportant, which shouldn't ever be the case with a team of this stature. The fact WWE never gave the Bully Ray character a run was a huge missed opportunity, and this just felt like something WWE could have done more with.

1 Jake Roberts

Jake 'The Snake' Roberts had an amazing career with WWE during the peak of his career, which is why it was an exciting prospect for him to return. The WWE Hall Of Famer returned to an old-school episode of Raw in 2014, which was a great moment.

He had an interaction with Dean Ambrose using his snake, which helped put over the upcoming talent. However, after that point, Roberts didn't do anything with the company, which was a real waste of potential.
