The Intercontinental Championship has a long and prestigious history in the WWE. There have been 175 different Intercontinental Title reigns in history, with some of the greatest WWE superstars ever holding the belt at different points. One of the most memorable decades when it comes to the Intercontinental Title was the 2010s.

There were 47  Intercontinental Title reigns in the 2010s, that being the 2nd most Intercontinental Title reigns in one decade. The 10 longest reigns of the decade includes both names that you would expect and names that would shock you, with all of them providing memorable runs with the title.

10 Seth Rollins - 119 Days

Since debuting on the main roster in 2012, Seth Rollins has become one of the most decorated champions in WWE, providing plenty of memorable title reigns. One of his reigns that doesn't get enough recognition is his second reign with the Intercontinental Championship.

Seth Rollins won the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam 2018 when he defeated Dolph Ziggler. Throughout his reign, Rollins defended his title against numerous competitors, reignited his partnership with The Shield, and then later betrayed by Dean Ambrose. This led to a match between Rollins and Ambrose at TLC 2018, which resulted in Ambrose defeating Rollins for the title.

9 Dean Ambrose - 151 Days

During his time with WWE, Dean Ambrose had 7 different title reigns, with 3 being with the Intercontinental Title. His first and third reigns were not successful at all, but his second was his second-longest title reign with the company.

Dean Ambrose won the Intercontinental Title from The Miz on the January 3rd, 2017 edition of SmackDown. For the entirety of his reign, Ambrose predominantly defended the title against The Miz before eventually losing the title back to him at Extreme Rules 2017.

8 Dolph Ziggler - 153 Days

Dolph Ziggler has won the Intercontinental Title 6 times in his career, which is 3rd of all time. But with all those reigns not much success has come from them, except for his first where he held the title for an impressive 153 days.

Ziggler won the Intercontinental Title by defeating Kofi Kingston on the August 6th, 2010 episode of SmackDown. Ziggler went on to hold the title for over 5 months before losing it back to Kofi on the January 7th, 2011 episode of SmackDown.

7 Curtis Axel - 155 Days

In May of 2013, Michael McGillicutty was repackaged as Curtis Axel and quickly received a big push. Axel quickly gained multiple wins over John Cena and Triple H and was shortly after inserted into a triple threat match of the Intercontinental Championship at Payback 2013.

Axel went on to defeat former champion Wade Barrett and The Miz in their Payback match to win his first Intercontinental Championship. Throughout his 155-day reign, Axel was involved in some of the top storylines in the WWE before eventually losing the title to Big E on the November 18th, 2013 edition of Raw.

6 Drew McIntyre - 160 Days

Back in 2009, when Drew McIntyre debuted as the chosen one, it looked like big things were in store for him. It turned out there weren't for most of his original run with WWE, but one great thing he did accomplish was holding the Intercontinental Title for 160 days.

McIntyre won the Intercontinental Title from John Morrison at TLC 2009. He went on to successfully defend the title against Morrison numerous times, and then against Kane. His nearly 6-month reign finally came to an end at Over The Limit 2010 against Kofi Kingston.

5 Big E Langston - 166 Days

After making his debut on the main roster in December of 2012, Big E served as an enforcer for Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee leading to great success. After moving on from his alliance with them, he was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental Title picture.

He won the Intercontinental Championship from Curtis Axel on the November 18th, 2013 episode of SmackDown. He would gon on to hold the title for a very dominant reign before losing the championship to Bad News Barrett at Extreme Rules 2014.

4 The Miz - 169 Days

The Miz is one of the greatest Intercontinental Championship of all time, winning 8 of them which is second to only Chris Jericho's 9. One of The Miz's greatest reigns with the title was his seventh which lasted 169 days.

The Miz won the Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules 2017 from Dean Ambrose. Throughout his reign, The Miz was a fighting champion, successfully defending the title against Ambrose, Jeff Hardy, Jason Jordan, and more. He finally lost the title to Roman Reigns on the November 20th, 2017 edition of Raw.

3 The Miz - 188 Days

The only reason The Miz's seventh Intercontinental Title reign is not far and away his best reign with the title is that he held it 19 days longer during his fifth reign.

The Miz won the Intercontinental Championship from Zack Ryder on the April 6th, 2016 episode of Monday Night Raw. This was one of The Miz's most entertaining and successful reigns with the Intercontinental Title, defending it against and defeating numerous superstars. He finally lost the title to Dolph Ziggler at No Mercy 2016 in possibly the best match of his career.

2 Shinsuke Nakamura - 201 Days

After taking a few weeks off WWE television, Shinsuke Nakamura returned on the June 25th, 2019 episode of SmackDown, and was immediately inserted into the Intercontinental Championship picture.

Nakamura won the Intercontinental Title from Finn Balor on the Extreme Rules 2019 kickoff show. Nakamura went on to hold the title for the rest of the year, defeating all challengers, before losing the title to Braun Strowman on the January 31st, 2020 edition of SmackDown.

1 Cody Rhodes - 233 Days

Cody Rhodes' run with the WWE had many ups and downs, with his 233-day reign with the Intercontinental Championship being one of the best stretches of his tenure.

Rhodes won the Intercontinental Title from Ezekial Jackson on the August 12th, 2011 episode of SmackDown. Over the length of his nearly 8-month reign, Rhodes had many memorable moments and matches before losing the title to Big Show at WrestleMania 28.
