WWE is all about creating iconic and memorable moments that send the WWE Universe home happy, but at the end of the day, the most important part about professional wrestling (or sports entertainment) is what goes on in the squared circle, and that will always have fans talking. The quality of wrestling has continued to improve in WWE over the past few years, and with so many new names arriving from the indies, NXT or returning from injury/retirement, the fans have never been more excited about the possibility of seeing a dream match unfold in front of them.

Unfortunately, WWE are still quite prone to poor booking, and that means that we see some matches way too often, or some matches that we don’t want to see at all, so with that in mind, we’ve compiled a list on that very subject. So sit back and read along as we take a look at 10 matches that the WWE Universe don’t really want to see in 2019, and 10 that we’d all love to see.

20 Want: Kurt Angle vs. Daniel Bryan

via youtube.com

When Kurt Angle returned in 2017, quite a number of dream matches came with him, but the most frequently mentioned is Daniel Bryan, and now that he’s a great heel, it could be even better. This would mean that Bryan would need to head to RAW in 2019, but if a story was told well enough, this could be the most anticipated match of the year. It’s unclear whether Kurt can go at a high level in a one-on-one situation still, but Bryan can easily carry any wrestler to a great bout, and a match with the Wrestling Machine just makes too much sense.

19 Don’t Want: Shane McMahon vs. Anyone

via wwe.com

This is a fairly broad one, and while we could have made several entries here, this makes it a lot easier, because most WWE fans out there are sick of seeing Shane McMahon in big, important matches. When he took over SmackDown Live, Shane claimed that it would be "The Land of Opportunity," but he’s done nothing but steal the spotlight for himself every step of the way, and it’s turned a lot of fans off. It was good at the beginning of the brand split, but now, there’s just way too much talent for Shane to need to wrestle, and we hope it stops in 2019.

18 Want: Daniel Bryan vs. Aleister Black

via sportskeeda.com

Aleister Black has been incredible since joining NXT in 2017, but his time on the yellow brand is coming to an end, and it would make a lot of sense if he were to join SmackDown Live shortly after WrestleMania 35. We could fill a whole list with matches we’d like to see him have on the main roster, but Bryan is at the top of the list, and the unique contrasts in their personality would make for a great story. In the ring, Black can keep up with anyone, and Bryan is a great matchup for him, so this is one that we can’t wait to see, especially if the WWE Championship was on the line.

17 Don’t Want:  Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler

via wwe.com

Every match in the rivalry between The Kingslayer and The Show Off has been fantastic so far, but that’s the problem, we’ve seen it so much, that I could go the rest of my life without seeing another match between the two. This highlights a bigger problem with WWE, their lack of creative booking, but no matter how good two performers are, seeing them wrestle so much in one calendar year will hurt them. These two are great though, and we are all looking forward to seeing them wrestle other people. As for this rivalry, we hope it’s one that WWE permanently put on the shelf.

16  Want: Braun Strowman vs. Lars Sullivan

via blogspot.com

Battles between monsters in WWE always excite the fans, especially if they are booked as two unstoppable monsters, and at some point, Lars Sullivan and The Monster Among Men are going to collide, and we are all for it. Both men display incredible feats of strength in the ring, and for men of their size, they’re quite agile and athletic too, meaning this wouldn’t be a normal clash of monsters. WWE will need to build Sullivan up first, but Vince loves big men, and we know he will be treated right, so when this finally happens, expect it to be a huge PPV bout.

15 Don’t Want: Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley

via forbes.com

This match was rumored to be a big reason why Bobby Lashley was returning to WWE, but after his poor booking so far since his return, nobody sees him as a credible challenger to the Beast Incarnate. These two both have a legit background in MMA, so if Lashley was booked as a beast upon return, it could have been made into a huge bout, but for now, there are just too many better opponents for Lesnar. We’ll get to who should take the Universal Title off Brock Lesnar later in this piece, but simply put, Bobby isn’t the man to do it, and he needs to be built up a lot more before he is considered a main event talent.

14 Want: Daniel Bryan vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas

via tech2.org

Andrade “Cien” Almas with Zelina Vega by his side was an absolute force in NXT, and he proved that he’s one of the top wrestlers in the world, but unsurprisingly, he’s been used terribly thus far on the main roster, but he has flashed his potential. Despite the fact that they are now both heels, this is a match that WWE fans around the world would love to see, as both men are two of the best wrestlers in the world. It’s about time that Almas rose to the top of the pack on Smackdown Live, and although Bryan won’t likely drop his title soon, this would be a fantastic match that would put Almas on the map, and give Bryan yet another classic bout for his resume.

13 Don't Want: The Undertaker vs. Braun Strowman

via sportzmode.com

This match was proposed for WrestleMania 32, but WWE canceled it when the backlash from the fans was incredibly overwhelming, and this backlash was due to the inexperience of Strowman, but now, it’s the other way around. Sure, The Undertaker is a legend in the wrestling business, but he’s just too old now, and his past few performances have proved that, so it wouldn’t be as good a match as it may have been at WrestleMania 33 or 34. Ultimately, both men have better things to do at WrestleMania, because if this match did occur, it would further expose just how slow The Deadman has become, so it’s one we would have liked to have seen, but not anymore.

12 Want: Brock Lesnar vs. Matt Riddle

via wrestleyard.com

Matt Riddle has been lobbying for this match ever since his days on the indie scene, and with Brock Lesnar seemingly on the way out in the near future, this could help push The King of Bros to the moon. It may mean promoting him to the main roster before the end of 2019, and some may see that as quick, but Riddle has everything it takes to become a big star, and retiring Lesnar would cement that. This is probably the most unlikely bout on this side of the list, but if it happened, it would be clear that WWE is finally looking to the future.

11 Don’t Want: Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin

via pinterest.com

This one is almost certainly happening, as Corbin has taken over the GM role from Kurt on RAW, and while the end result of this will be Angle returning to full-time competition, it’s still something we really don’t want to see. Corbin had potential as a top heel when he was first brought to the main roster, but fans really just couldn’t care less about him these days, and Kurt Angle matches should be saved for special opponents. Truthfully, the sooner we see the back of Baron Corbin in charge on RAW, the better, but we just aren’t excited about the prospect of a matchup with the Olympic Gold medalist.

10 Want: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

via wwe.com

Fans waited years for this following the unfortunate retirement of Daniel Bryan, and it lived up to the hype, but now that Bryan is a heel, this adds a whole new level to their rivalry, one that will keep fans interested. So far, Bryan has been incredible as a heel, and it’s yet to be seen if The Miz will become a babyface, but that seems to be the way it’s going as they’re on a collision course for WrestleMania. So far, the matches in this rivalry have been good, not great, but given the time on WWE’s grandest stage, this is one that could deliver, and fans are chomping at the bit to see it.

9 Don’t Want: The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar

via wwe.com

Following the unfortunate diagnosis for Roman Reigns, the rumored The Rock vs. Reigns match is off for WrestleMania, and unfortunately for the WWE Universe, they are considering replacing it with The Rock vs. Lesnar. This would come as a result of The Great One winning the Royal Rumble, and considering how badly the Universal Title has been booked lately, this wouldn’t do it any favors. Either way, the company’s "biggest title" would be going home with a part-timer, and that’s a huge sore spot for WWE right now, so let’s just all hope this match doesn’t happen.

8 Want: Triple H vs. Batista

via Forbes

Just a few weeks back, Evolution returned on SmackDown Live, and a match between Batista and Triple H, and considering how it would be Batista’s retirement angle, it’s an interesting one that we’d like to see. The Animal is one of the best performers of the Ruthless Aggression era, and seeing him back in the company for one last bout would be exciting, and considering the history these two men have, it would mean something. It’s unclear if WWE wants to go with this bout at WrestleMania, but it would finally give two part-timers a meaningful match, and that would work well on a WrestleMania card that will likely have a lot of diversity on it.

7 Don’t Want: Triple H vs. The Rock

via cagesideseats.com

This bout has been rumored since the confrontation between the two (and Ronda Rousey & Stephanie McMahon) at WrestleMania 31, but two part-timers (without a genuine reason) is just something we don’t want to see anymore. We’ve talked about Batista and Triple H wrestling, but that would be a one last time, retirement angle for Batista, but this one would just be a way to get two big names on the card, and most fans just don’t want to see that anymore. The Game’s WrestleMania availability is in jeopardy after his injury from Crown Jewel, but if he does return, the WWE Universe would rather a much better bout than this one.

6 Want: Shawn Michaels vs. AJ Styles

via wwe.com

Earlier this year, fake promotional posters featured this dream bout at the Royal Rumble, and it got fans incredibly excited, as this would be a great bout between generations, and after HBK’s return in 2018, this could happen in 2019. It’s certainly a long shot, as Michaels’ return was reportedly a one-time deal, but if the greatest wrestler of all time is going to return again, this has to be the bout. With Daniel Bryan and The Miz on a collision course for WrestleMania, it seems that The Phenomenal One doesn’t have a big-time bout set up on the card, and fans would go nuts over this genuine dream match.

5 Don’t Want: Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

via wwe.com

A year or two ago, this seemed like the hottest women’s feud in WWE history, and it was a potential candidate to be the first women’s WrestleMania main event, but these days, the company have just halted both of these performers' momentum completely. With the rumored Women’s Tag Team Titles on the way, this could be a hot feud come 2020 if WWE books their breakup correctly, but right now, there are women with so much more momentum. Unfortunately, this is another example of the main roster not having something for everyone, and wasting incredibly talented performers from NXT, but in time, they could make this right.

4 Want: Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch

via wwe.com

A Women’s match has never main evented WrestleMania, but in 2019, WWE has a perfect, hot feud that could make history, and the WWE Universe would be incredibly disappointed if the Rowdy One didn’t meet The Man at WrestleMania. Lynch is on the hottest run of her career, and Rousey is clearly a star, and with all their back and forth on social media, this one needs to be the main event. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if WWE tried to shoehorn Charlotte into this match somehow, but the company needs to go all in on Becky, meaning this is the perfect bout for the fans in 2019.

3 Don’t Want: The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels

via thesportster.com

The matches that these two men had at WrestleMania XXV and XXVI are considered two of the greatest in wrestling history, but in 2019, there are rumors that this could be considered for WrestleMania 35, a full 10 years later. Sure, the first two were amazing, but after seeing them wrestle in a tag team match at Crown Jewel, it’s clear that a one-on-one match would be slow and just wouldn’t work. We’ve mentioned Shawn wrestling other stars like AJ Styles, and that would work, as Styles can carry anyone to a good match, but both of these men are well past their prime, and a bout in 2019 would do a disservice to their previous, classic encounters.

2 Want: Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre

via wwe.com

For years now, it’s looked like Roman Reigns would be the guy to permanently dethrone The Beast, but the company has to move on with him on the shelf now, and it’s clear that the next guy up is the Scottish Psychopath, Drew McIntyre. Ever since his arrival on the main roster, McIntyre has been booked to look like the dominant, talented machine he is, and with Lesnar clearly on the way out, someone has to beat him on the big stage. At this point, it’s likely to be Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, but if booked correctly, WWE likely won’t be able to justify not having Psychopath vs. Beast Incarnate on the big stage.

1 Don’t Want: Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman

via wwe.fr

This match happened a while ago, and for some weird reason, Braun Strowman fell to a single F-5, and despite the fact that many people have expected Braun to take the title from Brock, it doesn’t look like that’s the case anymore. Braun is great, but his "get these hands" schtick is getting quite old as of late, and WWE needs to find a way to make him interesting again because this matchup doesn’t seem that appealing to most fans. At this point, Drew McIntyre should be the man to take the title from Lesnar, because Strowman just isn’t taking the fans interest as he has been over the past year.
