On Sunday, WWE annnounced the releases of Luke Harper, Sin Cara, Viktor and Konnor  (The Ascension),  but they might not be stopping there.

After the four releases, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported that there were "rumblings of additional releases" taking place on Sunday. No more superstar cuts followed, but we shouldn't fully rule out the possibility of more releases taking place in short time.

Two weeks ago, WWE insider Brad Shepard reported that more releases were "expected" to take place in the winter. Sure enough, four superstar cuts followed, but we'll just have to wait and see if more take place.

Back in April, Harper took to Twitter and announced that he had requested his release from WWE. They turned him down and even added more time onto his contract since he missed a long period of action due to injury.

Harper recently trademarked his old wrestling name, Brodie Lee, which was a strong indicator that he was already preparing for a WWE departure. Sure enough, the company finally gave in and released the former Wyatt Family member and SmackDown Tag Team Champion.

Sin Cara went to Twitter last month to also voice his desire to be released from his contract. He simply didn't have to wait as long as Harper (seven months), having received his wish within just a few short weeks.

Two months ago, Mike Kanellis also went public about his wish to be released from WWE, just a few months after signing a new multi-year deal with the company. Unlike Harper and Sin Cara, of course, Kanellis is still waiting to have his request granted.

Which Superstars Could Be Released Next?

If WWE is still looking to cut more talents, Kanellis should be considered a lead candidate to be released next Oney Lorcan had requested his desire to be let go, only to sign a new multi-year deal, so he's no longer a potential cut. The Revival haven't agreed to new deals with WWE, and with their contracts running up soon, it looks like they're about to depart. But whether or not WWE will release them ahead of time remains to be seen. Otherwise, it's really anybody's guess which other superstars could be let go in the near future.
