This upcoming Wednesday will mark a special day in professional wrestling, with AEW Dynamite set to premiere in Washington, D.C. on TNT.

But WWE has been doing everything possible to try and sabotage the new rival competition. It all started when the company moved NXT over to Wednesday nights under USA Network, in order to directly compete with AEW.

Well, Vince McMahon and company are taking it another step further. WWE Network announced a special "WWE Watch Along" segment for this week's episode of NXT - where viewers will be able to see "a rotating cast of WWE Superstars and personalities sit in on and react to a live event ."

The description outlines that Kayla Braxton will be hosting the event the program, with Rachel Evers, Keith Lee and Kassius Ohno giving "real-time analysis and reactions to the show."

This is only one of the many moves WWE is pulling off in hopes of sabotaging AEW's historic night., Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said that he and other wrestling media members were invited to tour the WWE Performance Center this upcoming Wednesday. Obviously, the plan for WWE here was to try and steer media coverage away from the Dynamite premiere.

And finally, NXT's commentary team announced on Wednesday that this week's upcoming episode will feature "limited commercial interruptions." Meltzter also suggested that WWE was doing this in order to take advantage of AEW's "regular commercial schedule."

It'll be interesting to see what else NXT does in hopes of getting a leg up on the competition. Even if they're successful in the ratings war this week, NXT still has a long way to go in competing with Dynamite. This Wednesday only marks the first day of what could be an extremely lengthy battle between WWE and AEW.

WWE Is Playing Their Cards Right

WWE obviously has the major advantage against AEW right now, being the world's largest wrestling promotion with the greatest global following. But it's also smart of Vince and company to try and not give AEW a single fighting chance. It's going to take a while for the rival company to get anywhere close to WWE's level, but NXT's success could prevent AEW from emerging as a serious rival. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
