On Monday night, Vince McMahon came out to Raw to make a special announcement. He welcomed the rest of his family (Shane, Stephanie, and Hunter) help him ring in a new era of WWE. A better era; an era where WWE listens to the fans. And that era starts... right now!

What this new era means exactly is yet to be seen. It looks like management will be more hands-on, and opportunities will be better distributed among the stacked WWE roster. One thing we do know for sure is that the main roster is getting six new call-ups; four single competitors and one tag team. Here's what you need to know about them:

5. Lars Sullivan

Quick Hits: Lars Sullivan is, in essence, a cartoon character of a wrestler. Big and mean with superhuman strength, Sullivan also happens to have a short fuse. It's a great combination. The big man loves big words and WWE loves him for it. Though he's leveled opponents all across NXT, over the past few years he's only gotten one single title opportunity.

Biggest Advantage: Not to be simplistic, but he's a big guy! We know how big dudes fair in WWE compared to competitors of smaller stature. Sullivan also is very agile in the ring and they've established an intelligent aspect of his character that adds to his dominance.

Biggest Challenge: How many big guys are too many big guys? Do WWE monster heels have a carrying capacity? If they do, we're quickly approaching it with Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar, plus AOP on Raw? Sullivan may be hampered by always being compared to them if he doesn't prove to be a special talent.

Match to Watch: Lars Sullivan vs. Keith Lee on NXT

4. Lacey Evans

Quick Hits: Lacey Evans came onto our radar in the inaugural Mae Young Classic where she defeated Taynara Conti and then put up a great fight against Toni Storm. She became a mainstay and one of the most consistent on NXT programming pretty quickly. Though she never won the NXT Women's Championship, she was positioned as a major gatekeeper to the title picture.

Biggest Advantage: Tall, muscular, blonde women are to 2018 what tall, long-haired, bodybuilder type men were to wrestling in 1980. She perfectly fits the mold of today's women's wrestler. Her look is matched with a certain level of aggression in the ring and a Marine Corp background that makes her a legit threat.

Biggest Challenge: The character is kind of... weird. She's meant to be a snobby 1940s housewife who wants to get rid of 'societal trash', but it all feels just a bit forced. There is most certainly a story behind her being a former Marine and what that time taught her. But this one, though? It doesn't quite work.

3. EC3

Quick Hits: This isn't EC3's first rodeo, he was an active competitor in WWE back in 2010 before spending 5 years in TNA being the canonical nephew of owner Dixie Carter (EC stands for Ethan Carter.) His run with TNA/Impact was a strong one and unsurprisingly, he was welcomed back to NXT with open arms. Immediately, he got a top star reception from the NXT Universe.

Biggest Advantage: EC3 is cool, his music and his character are over, the fans love him, and he knows it. A quick look at his work so far will show that he brings a certain spotlight with him; it's essential to his persona. Everything he touches sparkles just a little bit more.

Biggest Challenge: Remember Bobby Roode? He was a huge NXT star who was brought up and immediately lost all his shine. Sometimes it feels like the main roster writers don't actually watch NXT and miss what makes a particular character special. We worry this could easily happen to EC3 with just a few missteps with his character.

Match to Watch: EC3 vs. Velveteen Dream at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. (Bonus: EC3 vs Rockstar Spud Hair vs Hair TNA.)

2. Heavy Machinery

Quick Hits: Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight make up the tag team Heavy Machinery, who rose to moderate success in the NXT tag division. They never held the titles but had a strong feud with Tag Champs: The Undisputed Era. The gimmick mostly surrounds their love of two things: eating steaks and lifting weights.

Biggest Asset: Charisma comes in all shapes and forms, and for Heavy Machinery it comes in comedic timing and tag team chemistry. You never doubt for a moment that Dozovic and Knight love each other. They add some much-needed relief when WWE threatens to take itself way too seriously.

Biggest Challenge: In WWE, tag teams exist for one purpose and one purpose only: to break up and become singles competitors. That's just the reality, and unfortunately, neither of these two seem like they'll be particularly strong on their own. They will probably get some mileage out of a breakup angle and before jobbing out and fading from our TVs.

Match to Watch: Heavy Machinery vs. The Revival on NXT.

1. Nikki Cross

Quick Hits: Nikki Cross is the unhinged psychopath who was ironically holding Sanity together until their call-up earlier this year. She was left at NXT to wrap up some important business, including a feud with Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women's Championship. Her promos and interviews are a must-watch, she is absolutely hilarious on the mic.

Biggest Asset: Cross may be one of the most well-defined characters in all of WWE. She delights in the unhinged nature of her character; you can tell she's just having fun. It's in the details, every little mannerism is perfectly Nikki Cross. If she can hang on tight to it, she'll do just fine.

Biggest Challenge: The women's roster is stacked right now and there's not a significant mid-card to be spoken of quite yet. Women's tag titles could solve that problem, but the current top tier of women's wrestlers is super crowded. If she's not in that title picture, it'll be interesting to see what she carves out for herself

Match to Watch: Nikki Cross vs. Asuka last woman standing match on NXT.
