With no TakeOver until February, NXT appears to be planning a pretty big edition of its weekly show on December 18, 2019.

It might have been labeled a marathon, not a sprint by Triple H when NXT lost to Dynamite in week one, but it only took seven more weeks for the momentum to shift. For the past two weeks, NXT has been watched live by more fans than Dynamite. That's after AEW's Wednesday night offering dominated the ratings battle for seven straight weeks.

Some fans might argue that the honeymoon period for AEW is over, while others will point to the main roster involvement NXT has had the last few weeks. Now that the Survivor Series angle is over, Dynamite could return to the top of the two-show ratings pile. The numbers for this past Wednesday's shows will be pretty telling.

As for the future, should NXT slip up this week and next, it clearly plans to register what will be at least win number three on December 18, 2019. NXT used this week's show to start stacking the card for two weeks from now. The first sign of that was when Shayna Baszler choked out Rhea Ripley. The champ exclaimed to the unconscious Aussie that she can have a shot at her title on December 18.

One big title match booked, and another would be too before the night was out. NXT GM William Regal appeared to close the show, announcing that Adam Cole will defend the NXT Title on December 18. His challenger will be decided on next week's show as Keith Lee, Tomasso Ciampa, and Finn Balor compete for that honor in a triple threat match.

Aside from wanting to win the ratings war against AEW, the other reason NXT is stacking the December 18 show is due to the next TakeOver event being a long way off. Since Worlds Collide will be taking place on Royal Rumble weekend, NXT fans have more than two months until the next TakeOver. Chances are the December 18 episode of NXT is going to have that TakeOver feel, and maybe even a couple of title changes.
