The rumors became reality as the 205 Live Championship is no more, now having been designated the NXT Cruiserweight Title.

Triple H recently spent time answering questions with media and on conference calls trying to fill people in on what the future might hold for the 205 Live brand. He discussed the likelihood that the WWE Cruiserweight division would blend in with NXT and be part of a new Cruiserweight Division on that brand. In fact, there was a chance the wrestlers of 205 Live might simply join up with NXT and start wrestling with the everyday talent.

That move was made official when the 205 Live Championship was rebranded the NXT Cruiserweight Championship on WWE.com.

Drew Gulak is no longer the 205 Live Champion but now the NXT Cruiserweight Champion. It wasn't discussed on Wednesday's episode of NXT on USA Network, but it's likely that NXT and WWE will address this news in the coming weeks and talent like Gulak will start to show up on the black and gold brand.

It's not clear whether or not WWE has any intention of using Cruiserweights on either Raw or Friday Night SmackDown, but by the looks the new name, this appears to be a title that will stay exclusively with NXT as will anyone who was on the show. What this means for Drake Maverick's role as 205 Live GM is also unclear, but logically, that position would cease to exist.

205 Live Was a Failed Experiment

205 Live never really got off the ground like it could have. A brand that few fans cared to tune into, the talent on that roster was often wasted and it will serve them much better to join wrestlers like Adam Cole, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and others on Wednesday nights moving forward.
