WWE Announces Paige's Status For The Royal Rumble

For the past few days the internet has been full of rumors and news stories that the in-ring career of Paige is over. Just a few months after undergoing successful neck surgery the two time Divas' Champion suffered another injury during a tag match at a WWE live event a couple of weeks ago. Sasha Banks kicked Paige in the back and it seems as if the Brit did not know the kick was coming.

Paige had appeared on Raw since the incident, as a bystander as opposed to a wrestler, so it was assumed that the injury was maybe worse than it looked. Then this past weekend talk erupted of her career being over all of a sudden. Apparently WWE won't clear Paige for in-ring competition following this latest injury meaning that her wrestling career with the promotion is likely over.

Well if that is indeed the case then the powers that be at WWE are keeping their cards close to their chest. Paige appeared on Raw this past Monday night as if it was business as usual, cheering on her Absolution team mate Sonya Deville as she picked up a win over  The Boss. If she was as injured as people are assuming you'd expect her to be kept off the show, or at least to appear a little upset.

While it wasn't announced that her in-ring career is over, WWE did declare that Paige will not be competing in the first ever women's Royal Rumble match. The more eagle-eyed fans among you will have noticed before the announcement that the Absolution leader had already been removed from the promotional picture for the marquee match before that announcement had been made.

Judging by her reaction when the initial Royal Rumble announcement was made by Stephanie McMahon, having to sit out of the match will be a bitter pill to swallow for Paige. Not wrestling ever again will be a much more bitter pill however and let's just hope that the rumors her career is over do not come to fruition.
