When WrestleMania comes to an end, a certain feeling begins to radiate throughout the WWE Universe; a strange mixture of loss and hope. While the year's biggest storylines are put to rest, fans of the product hold on to their optimism that perhaps great things are on the horizon in WWE.

Following up the biggest event of the year is no easy task. And while WWE Payback certainly does not contain any type of WrestleMania feel, the event has been putting out a new-kind of feeling; an independent feeling. The card for May 1st actually feels like a wrestling card, thanks to the inclusion of the "Indy Darling" performers.

Will WWE Payback break any kind of buyrate records? Absolutely not. Will the fans of Sports Entertainment completely appreciated this Wrestling show? Not a chance. Will this event validate Vince McMahon's perception of what makes someone a "WWE Star?" Yes. And then, we must all swallow the McMahon Kool-Aid once again.

However, we still have the actual event to look forward to before the Machine takes over once again. And here is how we feel the card will play out:

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy vs. The Vaudevillians (WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders' Tournament Final)

Two teams born and bred in NXT will compete for an opportunity to challenge The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship. With this bout, either way, fans will go home happy as a pair of new faces will emerge.

The obvious favourites being Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy. However, a curveball outcome may occur and place The Vaudevillians into the Tag Team Championship picture, but all signs are pointing to Enzo and Cass.

Prediction: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy become the new #1 Contenders.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

"The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin has targeted Dolph Ziggler upon his arrival to the main roster. Corbin looks to make a name for himself at the expense of "The Show Off" as the pressure is now on for Corbin deliver.

Dolph Ziggler is never going to be the top guy in WWE and perhaps Ziggler has learned to live with that fact. In this match, Ziggler will make Baron (who is still green) look like a WWE Superstar.

Prediction: Baron Corbin goes over on Dolph Ziggler.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

This will be the show-stealing match. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn know each other better than anybody and will finally have a chance to square-off in a one-on-one contest on the main stage of WWE.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn - assuming the pair are provided a sufficient amount of time - will prove to the Sports Entertainment fan base that Wrestling still belongs in WWE; the foundations and traditions will live on through Owens and Zayn.

Prediction: Kevin Owens goes over on Sami Zayn following an amazing match.

Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose

This match has been teased for quite some time when its roots were planted last year at Night of Champions. Chris Jericho would team with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to challenge The Wyatt Family in a losing effort.

The original speculation for this bout would have seen it go down at WrestleMania. However, Chris Jericho would face a Phenomenal challenger while Dean Ambrose was introduced to Suplex City.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose goes over on Chris Jericho.

Charlotte vs. Natalya (WWE Women's Championship)

According to the Wonderful World of the Web, Bret Hart has "no desire" to be at WWE Payback but will appear anyhow for Natalya's sake. Either way, fans will enjoy seeing "The Hitman" alive and well.

Stripping away the emotional factor, Natalya should not defeat Charlotte for the Women's Championship. The next title holder needs to be Sasha Banks or Becky Lynch; or Bayley if a surprise call-up is in order.

Prediction: Charlotte retains the Women's Championship with some dirty tactics.

The Miz vs. Cesaro (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

With the addition of Maryse, The Miz has finally found a new angle to work with his character; once again providing Miz with some level of intrigue. However, how far can Miz carry the Intercontinental Championship?

It has been a long time coming for Cesaro to capture something. And we all know that the Intercontinental Championship is as high as Cesaro will ever be allowed to fly in WWE. Therefore, it's time for the Swiss Superman to grab some gold.

Prediction: Cesaro becomes the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

The Big Fight of the Night. This match has provided a new look to the WWE main event scene. All over the world, keyboards are pounding as fans speculate the outcome. "AJ Styles will win the title. The Bullet Club will lend a hand."

Yeah, the Bullet Club situation has provided a nice little twist to the angle but Roman Reigns really is the guy in WWE right now and the company will not place their main title on a guy like AJ Styles who is anything but a "WWE Guy."

Prediction: Roman Reigns retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
