Since suffering a thumb injury, Samoa Joe has moved to the Monday Night Raw announce table, where he's provided excellent analysis and in-depth commentary.

But once he's cleared for action again, don't expect Joe to continue working alongside Jerry 'The King' Lawler and Vic Joseph much longer. The Raw announce team is about to go through another major change.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Ringside News), even though Joe has excelled in his commentary role, he's still considered "too valuable as a talent right now." As such, WWE will only keep Joe at the announce table "until his hand injury heals."

WWE changed up its commentary teams after Fox took over the SmackDown Live broadcasts, which were moved to Friday nights. Michael Cole and Corey Graves were moved to SmackDown, while Raw received Lawler, Joseph and Dio Maddin.

However, Maddin left the announce team and decided to attempt a comeback in the ring. WWE then confirmed that Samoa Joe would take over for him on the Raw broadcast for the time being.

Samoa Joe's most recent match occurred on the Sept. 9 episode of Monday Night Raw in a triple threat match against Baron Corbin and Ricochet, with the winner heading to the King of the Ring finals. Corbin emerged victorious, and Samoa Joe has been out of action ever since.

Before that, the former United States Champion had competed in several singles matches against different opponents, with no long-term feud in place. He even got to challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules, though the latter managed to retain his title.

What's Next For Samoa Joe?

It's safe to argue that WWE has underused and mismanaged Samoa Joe since he joined the main roster three years ago. He has received a handful of major championship opportunities, facing the likes of Kingston and Brock Lesnar. When Joe returns, he should get another crack at the Beast Incarnate and the WWE Championship, because he's too valuable to be stuck in the mid-card division long-term. WWE could also look to team Joe with somebody else in order to fix the lackluster Raw tag team division.
