Romance angles are a big part of WWE television. Needing a break from tense feuds, fans can watch a wrestling couple's relationship play out on-screen. Yet, like all good things, eventually, these romances come to an end.

The latest WWE couple to be split up onscreen is Rusev and Lana. Fans remember the storyline of her divorcing Rusev to marry Bobby Lashley. While the storyline was panned, fans have become used to couples breaking up on-screen. Aside from Lana and Rusev, there's been plenty of other real-life WWE couples who were split up onscreen.

10 Rusev And Lana

Rusev and Lana have split up twice on WWE television. The first time came in 2015 when Lana turned babyface by hooking up with Dolph Ziggler, while Rusev attracted the attention of Summer Rae. However, the storyline was dropped due to Lana and Rusev's engagement being exposed.

In the fall of 2019, they once again split due to Lana leaving Rusev for Bobby Lashley. Even though they divorced on-screen, Lana and Rusev are still married in real life. While her kayfabe marriage to Lashley is ending, an on-screen reunion with Rusev is impossible due to him being released earlier this year.

9 Stacy Keibler And Test

Long before he dated Kelly Kelly, Test was involved with another WWE Diva. Test began dating Stacy Keibler in 2001 after the former WCW beauty joined WWE. Test and Stacy were paired onscreen when she became his new manager. However, after a while Test turned heel and continuously lashed out at Keibler.

This led to a love triangle between Test, Stacy, and Scott Steiner. Before long, Test and Scott formed a heel partnership, and Stacy reluctantly agreed to be their servant. However, Stacy would soon be freed from the two men with the help of Mick Foley.

8 CM Punk And AJ Lee

AJ Lee has been paired onscreen with many guys during her WWE career. In the summer of 2012, Lee's relationship with Daniel Bryan came to an end and she turned her attention to CM Punk. The two formed a connection due to their similar interests. However, Punk didn't have any romantic feelings for AJ and turned down her marriage proposal.

Lee would then go on to reunite with Daniel before dumping him at the altar. Even though Punk and Lee's onscreen romance was short-lived, the two did get married in real life.

7 Triple H And Chyna

In 1997, Chyna debuted in WWE when she became the bodyguard of her real life and on-screen boyfriend Triple H. The couple proved to be one of WWE's most dominant pairs during the Attitude Era. Whether they were on their own or part of DX, fans loved Triple H and Chyna.

By 1999, their on-screen relationship ended as they branched out into singles competition. Then months later, their real life relationship came to an end when Chyna says she discovered Triple H was having an affair with Stephanie McMahon. At that time, Triple H and Stephanie were paired in their own on-screen romance.

6 John Cena And Mickie James

In 2007, following her broken engagement to Kenny Dykstra, Mickie James began a real life romance with John Cena. By 2008, WWE had begun toying with the idea of pairing Cena and Mickie together on-screen. Backstage segments had Mickie asking Cena on a date. Then in another segment the following week, Cena implied that he and Mickie had a nice time on their date.

Just as the storyline was gaining steam, it was quickly dropped. John and Mickie's real life relationship ended around that time, and she was moved to Smackdown while Cena stayed on RAW.

5 Goldust And Marlena

In 1996, Dustin Rhodes was wrestling under his new persona known as Goldust. Rhodes' real life wife Terri Runnels was brought on to serve as his manager Marlena. Even though they were a bizarre pair, Goldust and Marlena were a couple that attracted a lot of attention.

A year after their on-screen pairing began, it came to an end during Goldust's feud with Brian Pillman. Two years after their WWE characters split, so did Dustin and Terri. But the two remained friends and Dustin even pitched a possible Goldust and Marlena reunion at RAW's 25th-anniversary celebration.

4 Lita And Matt Hardy

There was no cuter WWE couple than on-screen and off-screen couple Lita and Matt Hardy. The Team Xtreme members won fans over from the moment they shared a kiss. Their on-screen romance came to an end twice. The first came in 2003 when Hardy dumped Lita claiming she didn't care about him.

They got back together, but by 2005 their on-screen and off-screen relationship came to an due to Lita's affair with Edge. The real life situation was played out on television with Lita and Edge viewed as the villains, and Hardy the good guy.

3 Sable And Marc Mero

When Sable made her wrestling debut in 1996, her first storyline was serving as a valet for her real life husband Marc Mero. It would soon be apparent that Sable was the true star of the two. As Sable's success grew, Marc became jealous and the couple split. They continued to feud as Mero brought in Jacqueline as his new manager.

Sable went on to have a successful career as a Women's Champion, while Mero was didn't have any luck with his career. After ten years together, Sable and Mero divorced in 2004, and she went on to marry Brock Lesnar.

2 Triple H And Stephanie McMahon

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

November 1999 brought on the birth of the McMahon-Helmsley Era. Triple H interrupted Stephanie's wedding to Test and revealed that she was already married to him. Good girl Stephanie soon became a villain as she and her hubby ran WWE. However, in 2002 their on-screen marriage was on shaky grounds and Stephanie faked a pregnancy in order to keep her husband.

Upon discovering Stephanie's lies, Triple H dumped her the night of their vow renewal. Triple H and Stephanie would go on to marry in real life, and their marriage was finally confirmed on WWE television.

1 Macho Man And Miss Elizabeth

No wrestling love story is more iconic that Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth. The couple was paired together on-screen when Elizabeth became Randy's manager. Even though their real life marriage was never mentioned on television, fans could feel the love between the couple.

In 1989, the couple split on-screen, however at WrestleMania 7, Elizabeth returned to save Randy from an attack by Sensational Sherri. Following their reunion, Randy proposed to Elizabeth and they married at the 1991 SummerSlam PPV. A year later, Elizabeth and Randy would divorce after seven years together.
