If you jump to only a few months ago, John Cena and Nikki Bella were working hard at trying to make arrangements for their destination wedding. But the scenario that faces Nikki Bella in May isn't a lavish wedding. Instead will just be a day that serves as an extra sad reminder that her and John Cena's relationship is no more.

As you'll read from the inside sources close to the relationship, John and Nikki's relationship was really doomed from the start. But the situation definitely makes John Cena look more like a heel than he ever has in his professional career. And when you look at other elements like Nikki's recent role as an Aunt to her sister Brie's baby and John's emergence in Hollywood, it's no wonder they called it off.

Theirs wouldn't be the only relationship in WWE history that was clearly doomed from the very beginning. There are even many current relationships that are going on that when they end because it definitely seems like it may only be a matter of time, that's exactly the narrative people are going to run with.

Don't think that the world is all doom and gloom though. There are still 8 relationships featuring some of the biggest WWE stars that are destined to continue lasting the test of time. You just have to hope that Nikki isn't too jealous of the life that Brie, Daniel Bryan, and baby Birdie are building for themselves or they may find themselves in a real-life feud that is more entertaining than any storyline they've ever been part of.

These are the 8 WWE Relationships That Were Doomed From The Start (And 8 That Are Built To Last)

16 Doomed: Bray Wyatt And JoJo

via pwmania.com

Bray Wyatt seemingly had a loving relationship with his wife Samantha Rotunda. At least until JoJo entered the picture and won him away. Which means that while JoJo and Bray may currently be an item, many people have speculated that it will only be a matter of time before the passion calms down.

It's not as if JoJo should be left with any inherent reason to trust him when you consider that Bray also has a family with Samantha that he decided to walk out on. Rotunda has also attacked Bray's spending habits, including his lack of child support and his willingness to buy JoJo jewelry, swimsuits and go to exotic dance clubs. JoJo also previously had a brief relationship with Randy Orton.

15 Will Last: Becky Lynch And Luke Sanders

via instagram.com

Becky Lynch and Luke Sanders both have an interest in kicking some ass for a living. But for Becky, you see her do it in the WWE and Sanders has aspirations to continue excelling in the UFC where he currently holds a 12-2 record; including a win back on April 12th.

The two are seemingly deeply in love though despite having a difference in careers.

When talking about the potential jealousy that could come with fans obsessing over Lynch, Sanders also proved why he may be an excellent candidate "She handles that really well, and that doesn't affect me because I'm pretty mellow. I just keep it cool. I haven't had anything too crazy, she gets all the craziness." The two have been together since early 2016.

14 Doomed: Buddy Murphy And Alexa Bliss

via heavy.com

2018 could be a big year for Buddy Murphy in his professional career. He's currently working hard to make a name for himself on WWE 205 Live. But one person whose career is in an even better place is his fiance, Alexa Bliss who may not currently be a champion but that's only a matter of time.

Is it possible that both of their continued success brings them closer together?

Absolutely. But is it also possible that their increasingly busy schedules end up putting too much strain on the relationship? Well, it definitely wouldn't be the first time that has happened to a relationship. While neither Bliss nor Murphy knows what brand they'll end up on by the time 2019 rolls around, if they do split, they just may hope they can stay far apart.

13 Will Last: Mike "The Miz" Mizanian And Maryse

via pinterest.com

Mike "The Miz" Mizanian and his wife Maryse have been very clear that they were not planning to add a little bundle of joy to their family. But they probably weren't being as careful as they could have been, as Maryse recently gave birth to the couple's first child.

When talking about the birth of her daughter, Monroe Sky, Maryse stated “I will never forget the first little noise she made. Hearing her… that sound of her tiny cry will never leave my memory. This little girl is everything.” We just have to hope this baby brings them closer together than ever and if not, you can sit back and get ready for the tabloid journalists to dissect every part of their relationship.

12 Doomed: Chris Jericho And Kelly Kelly

Chris Jericho and Kelly Kelly tried hard to keep their relationship under wraps. Which was perhaps a sign that it was something that they knew wasn't a good idea. But photos that emerged of them online partying together definitely didn't help disqualify the talk behind the scenes.

Maria Kanellis opened up to AfterBuzzTV.com about some of the differences she had with Kelly Kelly while the two worked together and indicated her behaviour behind the scenes was the reason why: "I just think that sometimes you gotta be careful what photos end up on the Internet when people are involved with other people because it makes us girls that work our tails off to be very good individuals and be good at our job look [bad]."

11 Will Last: CM Punk And AJ Lee

Via ajlee.org

CM Punk and AJ Lee have had to deal with a tremendous amount of adversity together. This includes both of them taking departures from the WWE, including having Punk's termination notice showing up on their wedding day. Which you can imagine must have been an incredibly awkward conversation to have.

The two have seemingly remained stronger than ever and both are at great points in their career.

Punk is still working on his UFC career, as well as writing a Drax comic for Marvel. Lee is working as a screenwriter and producer on a new television series based on her autobiography. If the two can navigate the turbulent waves created by Vincent Kennedy McMahon, they can survive whatever comes there way.

10 Doomed: Jerry Lawler And Lauryn McBride

When you learn that Jerry Lawler, aged 68, is currently in a relationship with someone who is 29 years old, you definitely may start to raise some eyebrows. Someone with the life that Lawler has lived is definitely going to have some health problems that also make his body probably feel a lot older than 68.

One thing that may make Lauryn McBride question their long-term compatibility was what happened only 3 weeks before WrestleMania 34. While in the midst of some playtime Lawler said something, "And I realized then that whatever I said didn’t sound right, and then she looked at me — we made eye contact — and she said, ‘Oh my God, Jerry, go look in the mirror." Lawler had suffered a stroke. While he's recovered, perhaps it's only a matter of time before McBride stops planning to become his bride.

9 Will Last: Triple H And Stephanie McMahon

via pinterest.com

Before you start a relationship, you need to think long and hard about some of the potential consequences of your decision. Triple H could have thought about that for years and it still may not have been enough time to feel completely confident that going after the bosses daughter, Stephanie McMahon, was a good idea. Because let's be honest, he was definitely taking a huge gamble when he decided to ask her out.

But now at the very least, he can confidently say that he made the right decision.

The two have been married since 2003 and have 3 children together. Both should be commended for being able to keep their name relatively scandal-free, especially as far as things like potential infidelity are concerned.

8 Doomed: Edge And Lita

One of the biggest examples of real life crossing over into the storylines of the WWE was when Adam Copeland, aka Edge and Lita started knocking boots. Much to the chagrin of Matt Hardy who had been with Lita for a significant period of time.

Edge was also married, making their relationship all the more awkward. Edge's soon to be former wife, Lisa Ortiz, unloaded on the two saying "Were their actions unforgivable? NO, but it’s how they have both handled it after the fact. Adam blaming Matt for not being a stand-up boyfriend and in turn having his girlfriend confide in him. justifying how he could not only betray his wife but one of his best friends." Not surprisingly, Edge and Lita later called thing quits.

7 Will Last: Lana And Rusev

via wwe.com

While we don't know which one has helped each other more, there is no question that Lana and Rusev's career has both benefitted from their on-screen chemistry and ability to play off of one another's strengths. Something that in a past interview Rusev mentioned was also evident away from the screen as the two quickly became best friends once they started working together.

The WWE has had the couple feud on the screen in the past, but that seems to have just brought them closer together as their real-life wedding occurred in the middle of the story that was quickly ended. Their marriage, on the other hand, may be much more resilient. Lana and Rusev officially elected to get married back in July 2016 and are seemingly in an even healthier place now.

6 Doomed: Paige And Alberto Del Rio

Via pinimg.com

Paige has many reasons why she has earned the reputation of being one of the biggest examples of a "wild child" in the WWE. Those reasons include photos and videos that were released that impacted her reputation. One of the other factors that played into Paige's public persona was the fact that her relationship with Alberto Del Rio was far from the healthiest.

Along with a noticeable age gap (25 and 40), the two had numerous arguments in public.

They seemingly were also not great examples of a positive role model for one another as they both were suspended during their relationship for violating the WWE's wellness policy. It was also reported that both Paige's father and her brother were not supportive of their relationship.

5 Will Last: Jimmy Uso And Naomi

via pinterest.com

When Jimmy Uso is in the ring, nobody may make him feel more confident than getting to compete alongside his twin brother, Jey. But if Jimmy was asked outside of the ring about who the biggest source of support for him is, you would hope that he starts talking about his wonderful wife (and fellow wrestler), Naomi.

At the very least, that would be a feeling that you can also be confident goes both ways. When Naomi was recently asked to describe their relationship, Naomi replied "He’s my best friend, he’s my soulmate, he looks out for me, he takes care of me, he makes sure I’m okay all the time." Which you have to admit is definitely how you want to feel about your partner! Let's hope she also has a great friendship with Jey.

4 Doomed: Travis Browne And Ronda Rousey

Via wordpress.com

Ronda Rousey has seemingly always had an interest in UFC fighters. She was dating Brendan Schaub but their relationship fizzled and she moved on to Travis Browne instead. Browne was far from the "cleanest" guy in the world as his previous wife accused him of domestic abuse. Despite this, Rousey and Browne fell in love and got married to Browne back on August 28th. But there's no way Browne and Rousey could have prepared for her WWE career to take off the way that it seems to have. Something that while exciting, is also incredibly demanding and could absolutely put a strain on their relationship if they weren't ready for the changes. Browne also has 2 children which also make the often long-distance relationship even harder to maintain.

3 Will Last: Mike Bennett And Maria Kanellis

via pinterest.com

Maria Kanellis and Mike Bennett both have experience working for various different wrestling promotions but have currently found themselves a spot in the WWE and on SmackDown (at least for now), something that we're sure has helped their relationship grow.

In the past year, Bennett and Kanellis also continued to grow closer away from the screen as Kanellis became pregnant with their first child, which we hear can have a pretty positive impact on a healthy relationship. Kanellis gave birth to a daughter, Fredrica Moon, in early April. While it's possible that Kanellis and Bennett's career will go in different directions in the future, let's hope that child will work to help keep them always coming back to the same place of love.

2 Doomed: John Cena And Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella and John Cena have both put together impressive careers in the ring that seemingly led to them develop an incredibly strong personal relationship with one another. They've even both found success outside of it. But when you learn that the reason for their separation was John's unwillingness to have children, you may agree that they were doomed from the start.

An insider for PEOPLE opened up about how Nikki was handling their separation, "But in that case, he never should’ve proposed, let alone in front of millions of people. Now she’s heartbroken. This was supposed to be the happiest time of her life. He ruined it and blew everything up.” We're sure that whoever Nikki starts dating next that she may not exactly be racing to get back into this stage of her life. As for John, it definitely sounds like he is willing to enjoy the single life.

1 Will Last: Daniel Bryan And Brie Bella

Via pinimg.com

With Nikki Bella and John Cena's relationship coming to a very public end, all eyes are now going to switch to her twin sister Brie and her relationship with Daniel Bryan. But thankfully for those two, at least they've already gotten through the engagement period and have even started a family together.

The two have been incredibly supportive of one another throughout their career, including Brie helping Bryan deal with the depression that came when he had to step away from the ring. As sad as John and Nikki is, you can imagine people would be even more devastated if Bryan and Brie called it quits. But at least if it does, Brie will know she can rely on Nikki for some support!
