WWE announced that they have released Enzo Amore, just a day after suspending the Cruiserweight Champion. Amore is under police investigation for raping a woman in Phoenix this past October.
The accuser took to Twitter and claims that Amore and two of his friends met her at the Phoenix Clarendon Hotel on Oct. 19. She then said that Amore proceeded to rape her, and she had to spend 45 days in a mental hospital. Amore's Instagram account confirms that he was in Phoenix the day before the alleged rape:
The Phoenix Police Department is investigating, and Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that authorities "are just waiting on lab results." One of Amore's two friends denied the allegations, while the Cruiserweight Champion hasn't released any statements regarding the incident.
Amore has become known for his troubles outside of the ring. Roman Reigns reportedly kicked him off a tour bus in Europe after Amore criticized the WWE and bragged to a friend how much money he was making. Amore was also told to stay away from the superstar locker room, and given his own instead.
On top of that, Amore came under fire in the state of Delaware - who asked him to change his driver's license signature. Amore went to Instagram and launched a tirade against the state, refusing to change it and claiming it's the same signature he's used since grade school.
Amore was scheduled to defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Cedric Alexander at this Sunday's Royal Rumble. That match was scrapped earlier today, and it's unknown if the vacated championship will be up for grabs on Sunday.Amore's release also means the end of a romantic storyline with Nia Jax, which has developed over the past month.
Amore first joined the WWE in 2012, working on the NXT brand. He made his main roster debut with Big Cass after WrestleMania 32. But in a very short period of time, his WWE career has come to an end.
