Last week, WWE announced that Summer Rae, Emma and Darren Young had been released from the company, but the cuts haven't stopped there. NXT has now released Leo Gao, one of the main trainers for the brand.

Gao announced the news on his official Twitter page:

Gao, listed at 5-foot-10 and 300 pounds, joined the WWE earlier this year to train the next wave of superstars. He's one of the many names to have been released by the company in the past week.

The details of his release are unclear, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet, who also noted he suffered a serious neck injury in August.

This is the second name to depart NXT today. It was previously announced that NXT superstar Sawyer Fulton was released ending his four-year tenure with the company. Thus the 6-foot-8, 315-pound beast will not be performing for the WWE after all.

With Gao and Fulton now released, it's quite evident that Vince McMahon, Triple H and the creative team never saw the pair as part of the long-term pictures for the WWE.

Business has been tough for a number of wrestlers in the past year. Besides the aforementioned Young, Emma and Rae, other stars like Ryback, Cody Rhodes, and Eva Marie have left the company. The WWE is simply at a time where they can only move forward with wrestlers that they believe can have long-term success and impacts with them.

So ends Gao's short-term tenure with the WWE. According to a recent article from WWE.com, Gao had a great relationship with many superstars and was one of the more "lovable recruits."

But with his release, it's yet another tough reminder that business is business. No matter what he accomplished in the WWE and Vince McMahon decided it was time to cut ties with Gao.
