Every year the WWE draft rolls around and it's always one of the most exciting parts of the WWE calendar as the company shakes things up and keeps things fresh, creating new storylines and future champions. Some talent ends up receiving major pushes from switching brands while others simply fall through the cracks and disappear but regardless, the WWE Universe always gets excited about seeing a change of the rosters. (Of course, with that comes inevitable disappointment, but let's stick with the positives for now.)

2019 will be no different and whether it's a superstar shake up and official draft or something totally different the company will find a way to move some talent about in order to have brand new creative ideas, ensuring the product doesn't go stale. After the recent McMahon family statement promising fresh ideas, new superstars and matchups the 2019 trades will be even more important than ever before, as the company must position themselves in the best possible way for the year ahead. Of course, main complaints from fans don't necessarily lie with who's on which show; it's a question of WWE utilizing the talent they have on each show and executing intriguing television every week. Nevertheless, 2019 seems to be all about fresh starts, so we're inevitably going to see some roster movement, perhaps even sooner than the annual draft.

So with that in mind, throughout this article, we will take a look at 10 trades that we have to see in 2019 and 10 that WWE must simply avoid at all costs.

20 Trade: AJ Styles To Raw

via wwe.com

AJ Styles has become synonymous with SmackDown Live since he was drafted to the blue brand during the original draft with the former WWE Champion becoming the face of the show as SmackDown became the "house that AJ Styles built." AJ is no longer the former New Japan and TNA talent; he's just seen as one of the biggest Superstars in the company and he's certainly ready for the transition back to WWE's flagship show.

With Roman Reigns out of action for the foreseeable future, Monday Night Raw needs a new megastar to carry the show on a weekly basis. Styles is ready for that pressure, and he would give fans a guaranteed must-see match every week.

19 Avoid: Daniel Bryan To Raw

via wwe.com

If, for some reason, WWE has worries about sending AJ to Raw or wants him to continue being the face of SmackDown Live the company might look to a tried and tested name in Daniel Bryan to be the next main event name of Raw, but that would be a mistake.

Bryan's recent heel turn has worked perfectly and on Raw, there's a chance that he wouldn't stand out quite as well as he does on the blue brand where bigger personalities such as Braun Strowman are able to dominate. Bryan is a technical master and that in-ring style works best on SmackDown Live which is where Bryan should remain. Hopefully getting a lengthy run with the WWE Championship will keep him at his very best.

18 Trade: Randy Orton To Raw

via wwe.com

Randy Orton's a reliable hand for WWE and he's the kind of guy the company can put on either show based on need. Right now, SmackDown Live is packed with experienced talent from Rey Mysterio to Jeff Hardy and that is something that is lacking on the red brand, which is where Orton could fill in, offering his experience to younger names.

On top of that Orton's current storyline of taking out the top babyfaces and collecting trophies from them is working brilliantly, but he is running out of names to attack on SmackDown. Moving him back to Raw and keeping the build going would allow his momentum to continue while keeping Orton as relevant as possible.

17 Avoid: Mandy Rose To Raw

via sherdogforums.com

Every now and then it becomes clear that Vince McMahon is a big fan of a certain wrestler and right now Mandy Rose is one of them. The former NXT and Total Divas star has improved immensely since first debuting and deserves huge credit for that.

Rose has nailed down a distinct character and has gotten much better in the ring while remaining strong on the microphone, hence why Vince is constantly giving her more and more opportunities. SmackDown Live is a great place for talents to learn and thrive without quite as much pressure as being on the flagship show. Therefore Rose should keep developing on the blue brand before any switches take place.

16 Trade: Ember Moon To SmackDown

via wwe.com

While Mandy Rose needs to stay on the blue brand one person who would benefit from joining her on SmackDown Live is Ember Moon as someone who has all the talent in the world but is yet to really find her feet on the main roster. Moon is one of the best wrestlers in the company and was fantastic in NXT, but since being placed on Raw she has been lost in the shuffle. She's stuck behind more established names, something that was only made worse when Ronda Rousey became a regular fixture on RAW.

Despite this, Ember Moon has all the abilities to be a top title contender and win the fans over, as was seen by how popular she was at the Evolution PPV, so now it's time to move her to SmackDown and hit the green light on a big push.

15 Avoid: The Revival To SmackDown

via wwe.com

It might seem like moving The Revival is the perfect way to solve the problem for the former NXT Tag Team Champions, but that isn't the case as was proven in 2018 when the Good Brothers joined the blue brand. Sometimes simply moving to another brand doesn't fix the issue. Recently, The Revival has been getting a good push once again and the team have started getting taken seriously and with the tag division on SmackDown already stacked, it wouldn't be a wise move to change things for the Top Guys right now.

The Revival can become one of the top teams in 2019 on the red brand, especially with the push that they have got recently. With WWE promising change and Triple H being a big fan of the team, keeping them on Raw to develop is a smarter move.

14 Trade: Carmella To Raw

via youtube.com

2018 was the greatest year of Carmella's WWE run and while many think she has fallen down the card as she went from champion to comedy segments, that's simply not the case as she is one of the most featured stars on the show. Carmella has simply shown another side to her character, proving she can work as a babyface. That only makes her more valuable to the company and in turn that is likely to get a reward, in the form of a trade.

Whether WWE keeps her as a fun babyface or moves her back to the catty heel, Carmella has improved plenty and keeping her fresh would be a wise move by WWE in order to allow her to have a lengthy run moving forward with WWE.

13 Avoid: Bianca Belair To Main Roster

via WWE.com

When drafts or trades take place, NXT talent is often considered now as the show has essentially become a third brand with the biggest stars often being raided by Raw and SmackDown once they have proven themselves to be good enough. One name who will likely be up for consideration in 2019 will be Bianca Belair who is one of the most exciting female superstars in the entire company. However, despite her fantastic talent she is very early into her career and that must be considered.

Giving Belair a little more time to develop and really dominate NXT, hopefully as a champion won't be a bad thing as she will be able to keep improving before eventually making the jump at a later date.

12 Trade: Tyler Breeze To NXT

via wwe.com

As we just mentioned, NXT has theoretically become a third brand and if Raw and SmackDown can pluck talent from that show, why shouldn't some of the main roster stars be eligible to make the move to NXT in return? This would only further develop NXT as a show and make the entire draft even more exciting. NXT would gain new superstars or returning talent and this would allow brand new storylines that haven't been available before.

Tyler Breeze recently made a one-off appearance and it went down incredibly well, so why not make the move permanent, giving him a chance to get back to what he does best while also putting over the new crop of developing names.

11 Avoid: Samoa Joe To Raw

via dailyddt.com

While Samoa Joe has also failed to capture gold on the blue brand, SmackDown Live is the perfect place for him. Not only does he stand out as a bigger, monster on that show, but he can also mix it up in the ring with the best of them. Joe is possibly the best talker in WWE right now and that is another area where SmackDown is currently weak. Therefore it makes sense to be on that show where his strengths are able to stand out.

While he hasn't been given a title run at this point, it's hard to see a 2019 where Joe doesn't get a run with the WWE Championship as a top heel on the show and that is more likely to happen on SmackDown.

10 Trade: Velveteen Dream To Raw

via wwe.com

When the next set of trades take place there is no doubt that somebody from NXT is going to make the move to the main roster and there is nobody more ready at Full Sail than Velveteen Dream. The Dream has taken the wrestling world by storm in 2018, bursting onto the scene and smashing the glass ceiling by becoming one of the most entertaining wrestlers that NXT has ever seen, which is a huge statement to make.

He is itching for the move to the main roster and deserves that chance in 2019 and Raw would be the best place for him on a more character-driven show where he should really be able to push the boundaries for what fans have seen before.

9 Avoid: Seth Rollins To SmackDown

via wwe.com

When it comes to reports regarding future trades between the shows, Seth Rollins is one of the names that is often brought up as someone who should be put on SmackDown Live to be given a run as WWE Champion. However, that isn't needed. Rollins was the number one performer on Raw in 2018 putting on classic matches and winning the fans over each time and he has all the ability to become a Universal Champion, especially once Brock Lesnar moves back to UFC.

While it might be fresh as Rollins has been a staple of Monday Night Raw since his career began, he has all the momentum behind him to now go from Intercontinental Champion to the main event of Raw as the World Champion, truly becoming 'The Guy.'

8 Trade: Buddy Murphy To SmackDown

via youtube.com

The current Cruiserweight Champion is one of the best wrestlers in the world right now and has taken 205 Live by storm since making the move from NXT and now it's time for him to take the next logical step, onto the main roster. Mustafa Ali recently made the transition to SmackDown Live and he has done a fantastic job and fit in comfortably. This is what will hopefully open WWE managements eyes to what the cruiserweights could possibly offer.

SmackDown is the best place for smaller superstars like Murphy, and considering that he is actually one of 205 Live's biggest stars (physically), he should be able to fit in well on the blue brand and continue his growth.

7 Avoid: Elias To SmackDown

via wwe.com

While WWE is all about wrestling at the core, in reality, the entertainment aspect of the shows are always the most important factors and there are very few names who get that part of the product better than Elias. To say he was hated by most fans in NXT he has had a remarkable turnaround on the main roster which just goes to show how talented he really is. Sure, on SmackDown he might find himself with a title a little easier, but Elias doesn't actually need a championship right now.

Keeping him on Raw as one of the most entertaining acts on the show is the right decision, rather than throwing him to SmackDown where his in-ring abilities might be pulled into question more.

6 Trade: The Usos To Raw

via wwe.com

We haven't seen The Usos on Raw since the draft split and since then the brothers have reinvented themselves and become arguably the greatest tag team on the planet and now it is time for them to be featured on the flagship show. There is nothing else for The Usos to achieve on SmackDown Live other than feuding with the same teams over and over, which is why it's time to mix things up and give them some new opponents such as AOP or The Revival.

The Usos have the ability to work as top babyfaces or heels which means WWE can slot them into any situation and considering how talented both men are in the ring and on the microphone they would excel and deserve to be on the show.

5 Avoid: Drew McIntyre To SmackDown

via wwe.com

Drew McIntyre has done an amazing job since moving from NXT and he simply oozes confidence and class and just looks like a top superstar whenever he appears which is exactly what WWE wants. While many NXT call-ups fail to make the mark on the main roster it could be argued that McIntyre is one of the very best to make that jump, which is perhaps because of his previous experience in WWE before he was released.

He clearly has Vince McMahon's backing and because of that he will stay on the A show and be given a major push in 2019 to the title picture where McIntyre is likely going to have a lot of success.

4 Trade: Finn Balor To SmackDown

via outsports.com

This trade is something that fans have been wanting to see ever since Finn Balor made his return from the injury that saw him drop the Universal Championship. It has been frustrating to see Balor be treated so poorly on the red brand and there is no doubt he is capable of more. SmackDown, (the land of opportunity), is often considered a brand that focuses more on wrestling rather than personalities and given that the Superstars of that show tend to be a little smaller in stature, Balor would have all the tools to excel.

Not only would a move to SmackDown help him but possibly forming up a Balor Club alongside Gallows & Anderson would resurrect their WWE runs at the same time, creating a top faction to kickstart the new year.

3 Avoid: Braun Strowman To SmackDown

via foxsports.com

Ever since the draft split first returned SmackDown has been the place where smaller talents have been able to thrive, whilst Raw has tended to remain the land of the giants, something that has worked to perfection. Braun Strowman has been the leader in that with his fantastic work on the red brand where the Monster Among Men has been one of the biggest names in the entire company in the past year.

However, even though he has been a top star he still hasn't achieved the big one; the Universal Championship. Strowman has come close but is yet to secure the title and until he gets that big moment it will be a waste to move him when he could easily be the face of Raw.

2 Trade: Sasha Banks To SmackDown

via wwe.com

For the past year, WWE has been wasting both Sasha Banks and Bayley with their on again, off again friendship that has led to no major payoff, despite the fact that the previous year saw Banks compete for the Women's Championship countless times with her epic feud against Charlotte Flair. The Boss has all the tools to be the top star of the women's division. If WWE can start making the most of that then the women's division, in general, will improve and moving to SmackDown could do the trick for that.

Throughout her full main roster run Banks has been used on Raw and switching that up would allow things to freshen up for her. If WWE positions her as a top star on SmackDown then hopefully The Boss can get back to her very best, which would be positive for everyone.

1 Avoid: Ronda Rousey To SmackDown

via wwe.com

There are expectations that when SmackDown Live joins the FOX Network, the executives at FOX want to see the blue brand be made into the number one show, which has led to speculation that Ronda Rousey might be moved over. Rousey is clearly one of the biggest names in the company right now and has a huge following which is why she's someone WWE might look to in order to give the blue brand a major viewership, but right now that doesn't need to happen.

Ronda has done a fantastic job on Raw and WWE needs to keep her where she is, building the entire women's division around her. There are still plenty of stories to be told with Ronda on Raw such as a major heel turn and doing that on what will always be the flagship show (no matter what FOX says) is the smartest move for the company.
