WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era was a great time in wrestling. A lot of people like to compare the Ruthless Aggression Era with the Attitude Era when everyone was crazy about wrestling. While these two were very different times in wrestling, the company had similar practices to boost the ratings.
Even though the older eras of WWE were infamous for their crazy storylines, these types of things did end up boosting the company's viewership. Ruthless Aggression, while more focused on wrestling than ever, had its moments too that weren't too fun to watch. In the midst of doing things, the company produced several storylines in this era that was disgusting to watch.
10 Lita's Sex Celebration
In 2006, Edge won the WWE Championship from John Cena after cashing in the first-ever Money in the Bank contract. To celebrate his world title win, Edge decided to celebrate his victory on television by having sex with her then-girlfriend Lita.
Both stars stripped down to their underwear on a bed. But before anything else could happen, Ric Flair crashed the party and then John Cena arrived too. This was one of the most disgusting segments of that year, and while it did bring record ratings for WWE, Edge and Lita were very uncomfortable doing it.
9 Dr. Heiney
Back in 2005, Ross was fired by Linda McMahon for a real-life issue his body had developed. Ross required colon surgery immediately and was written off the television. But Vince found humor in this and then in October, fans saw his Dr. Heiney skit.
In that segment, McMahon performed colon surgery on Ross and pulled several items from his buttocks, including his famous BBQ Sauce and even his own head. What's more disgusting is the fact that McMahon called Ross earlier the day of the show and said he'd like what WWE is doing for him.
8 Vince McMahon Is Shoved Into Big Show
Vince McMahon's "KMA Club" was a ridiculous idea. He would force other wrestlers to literally kiss his butts and it was something that WWE wouldn't ever do in the PG Era. But Vince enjoyed it... until the tables turned against him, of course.
In 2006, McMahon wanted Shawn Michaels to become a part of this club. He teamed up with Shane and The Big Show to face DX in a handicap match at Unforgiven 2006. The match was brutal, but it ended with McMahon literally getting the taste of Big Show's butt crack.
7 Kurt Angle Wants To Do It With Sharmell
"The Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle was a top guy in WWE until he left. While other Superstars mentioned here have turned down some angles at one point, Angle claims to have never turned down a storyline. But perhaps, that's the reason why WWE made him the stalker of Booker T's wife.
The Olympic Gold Medalist became a stalker of Sharmell in this rivalry and once even said that he wanted to have "bestiality sex" with her.
6 Al Wilson Dies
The Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie storyline in 2003 saw the kayfabe death of Al Wilson. During their rivalry, Marie fell for Torrie's father and engaged with him in the storyline. She also told Torrie that if she spent a night with her, she'd call off the wedding.
But even then, Marie married Al Wilson. Later, she told that Wilson died of a heart attack after consummating their marriage on their honeymoon. This rivalry ended at Royal Rumble 2003 with a Stepmother vs Stepdaughter match.
5 Lita Gets Pregnant With Kane's Child
In 2004, Kane started harassing Lita in WWE. In the storyline, The Big Red Machine beats up Matt Hardy regularly on television.
To save Hardy, Lita had to sleep with Kane, and sometime after the WWE Hall of Famer forced her to sleep with him, Lita got pregnant. She and Matt were happy about this at first but then Kane revealed that he was the real father. If that wasn't enough, Lita suffered a miscarriage after Gene Snitsky bumped into Kane who then bumped into Lita.
4 Vince McMahon Chokes Stephanie With A Pipe
The rivalry between Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon in 2003 got uncomfortable at times. Stephanie was playing a babyface character as the General Manager of SmackDown.
She faced her father in an I Quit match at No Mercy, with her GM job on the title. Vince didn't show mercy to his daughter at the pay-per-view and won after choking her out with a steel pipe.
3 Tim White's Suicide Angle
Former WWE referee Tim White suffered an injury in 2002 during a Hell in a Cell. He later retired because of that and became depressed. WWE mocked his mental illness on television in 2005 when Josh Matthews interviewed White.
He took a shotgun and tried to kill himself but failed and shot his foot instead. Later, WWE turned this into a weekly cyber-segment named Lunchtime Suicide.
2 The Boogeyman Eats The Mole Off Jillian Hall's Face
The Boogeyman was a character that ate worms, most of the time. But one night, he decided to eat the mole off Jillian Hall's face during a Piper's Pit segment.
This was pretty gross to watch at that time, but WWE still thought it'd be great to air it on television. Anyone who saw this segment once can't really forget it ever.
1 Katie Vick
The infamous Katie Vick storyline is the most disgusting thing that happened during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Triple H told fans about Kane's high-school crush and just one week later, he cosplayed Kane simulating necrophilia with that doll.
It's also one of the things that WWE wouldn't want fan younger to know about The Game. But it's impossible to ignore the kind of things the company did in the name of sports entertainment.
