With the second biggest event of the year approaching, there is plenty of hype around SummerSlam due to the stacked card. Reports have indicated that the pay-per-view is expected to be quite lengthy with five to seven hours for the entire show. And much like WrestleMania, the aftermath of SummerSlam is usually extremely important to the company as many feuds conclude while others begin soon afterwards. Not to mention the imminent returns to the WWE from current Superstars to former talents.

And while the internet is filled with rumors regarding the aftermath of SummerSlam, there are some that happen to be much more realistic than others. And of course some are backed up by credible sources, which is how they ended up on this list in the first place. Once SummerSlam concludes, the company begins looking forward to the next major event in Survivor Series with feuds building up to it.

But of course there are many important steps along the way from pay-per-views to major shows. As wrestling fans, we are used to hearing rumors about so many different scenarios - and while not all of them end up coming to fruition - some end up taking place as predicted months ahead.

There has been a recent trend of the company attempting to throw in some curveballs, why is why we cannot take these rumors as facts until they take place. Anything could happen within the upcoming weeks to change the creative direction. Here are 20 rumored scenarios that could take place after SummerSlam:

20 Dean Ambrose Returns To Reunite With Seth Rollins

via wwe.com

Having been out of action since December, some fans are excited for the return of Dean Ambrose whos presence has been missed on Raw. While previous reports claimed that he may be present at SummerSlam - likely interfering in the bout between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler - Joe Peisich from Barn Burner is now reporting that Ambrose will be present on the Raw a week after SummerSlam. The most likely scenario has Ambrose reuniting with Rollins to take on Ziggler and Drew McIntyre - although some fans believe that it's only a matter of time before Ambrose embraces his heel side once again.

19 Women's Tag Team Titles To Be Introduced

via wwe.com

With WWE Evolution having been announced for October, fans began to speculate whether the Women's Tag Team Championships would finally be re-introduced. And while the division may have enough teams to keep it floating for the time being, it seems like the company will wait a bit longer before they make such a major change.

In a recent interview, Stephanie McMahon revealed that the fans' interest in having tag titles for women has been brought to the attention of the company - hinting about possibly bringing them back in the near future.

And while the titles may not be apart of Evolution, we wouldn't be surprised to see them return by the end of the year.

18 Jason Jordan Returns To Action

via wwe.com

Jason Jordan has been out of action since February with his return having been postponed a number of times. Considering that it's a neck injury, fans shouldn't be surprised since WWE doesn't take such matters lightly as we have come to learn. And while he hadn't been cleared to return in the past few months - despite persisting rumors about his appearance - he may be finally fully healthy to get back to in-ring action in the aftermath of SummerSlam 2018. Prior to his injury, Jordan had finally gained some momentum in the company although it didn't last too long.

17 AJ Styles To Remain Champion Until Hell In A Cell

via wwe.com

AJ Styles' lengthy reign won't be ending anytime soon if you happen to believe the rumors around the web. With the longest WWE Championship reign since CM Punk, Vince McMahon is said to be extremely high on AJ - which is why he remains the champion after having faced so many challengers. And while there are some fans hoping to see Samoa Joe also get his moment by claiming the title, rumors suggest that will not be taking place at SummerSlam. AJ will continue holding on to the title until Hell In A Cell - if you happen to believe the latest rumors.

16 WWE To Begin Teasing Roman Reigns Against The Rock

via wwe.com

Whether cheered or jeered, WWE is intent on keeping Roman Reigns as the face of the company.

With a heel turn looking unlikely as ever, Dave Meltzer revealed that the WWE may be planning a bout between Roman Reigns and The Rock to take place at WrestleMania 35.

And knowing how WWE loves building up headlining matches ahead of time, it wouldn't be out of question for them to start teasing a feud between Reigns and The Rock. It will also be interesting to see whether the match is contested over the WWE Universal Championship, although Meltzer seems confident that it will take place.

15 Rematch Between The Undertaker And John Cena

via sportskeeda.com

The long awaited match between The Undertaker and John Cena finally took place at WrestleMania 34 - although not everyone was particularly impressed with the match. It is understandable given that it only ran short of 3 minutes, but rumors suggest that a rematch may be on the horizon. With both Superstars being advertised to appear on the same show in October, there are rumors that the WWE could announce a rematch for Survivor Series. Rumors have only increased now that The Undertaker uploaded a photo of himself facing off with Cena during their WrestleMania bout, so it will be intriguing to see whether those rumors come to fruition.

14 Braun Strowman Cashes In His Money In The Bank Contract

via wwe.com

Regardless of the outcome at SummerSlam between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, there is a general belief that Braun Strowman's time may be coming up sooner than we think. As his stock continues to rise, it is believed that the company is very high on Strowman and he is likely to become the next WWE Universal Champion. And while he may not cash it in at SummerSlam - especially if Lesnar retains - Strowman may be the next challenger for the title. Considering his gimmick and strong push, it is unlikely that Strowman will capture in a typical heel-ish way.

13 Carmella To Continue Streak Of Dominance On SmackDown

via wwe.com

Fans may not be necessarily supportive of the WWE's decision to make Carmella the face of the SmackDown's women divison, but she is set to become the longest reigning SD Champion if she retains at SummerSlam.

There are no signs that the company is planning to give up on Carmella despite the complaints from the WWE Universe.

And given how she has been booked, as well as rumors around the web, it seems like WWE will not be crowning a new champion yet. The outcome of the title match may once again be decided through an interference by Carmella's sidekick James Ellsworth - who has ensured that she retained the title several times before.

12 Randy Orton To Receive Another Major Push

via wwe.com

Following an underwhelming stint as a face, Randy Orton finally went back to his heel persona where he has always shone the brightest. With an ongoing feud against Jeff Hardy, Orton has quickly established himself as one of the top heels on SmackDown. Knowing how high Vince McMahon has always been on Orton - even at an advanced age - rumors claim that Orton may be on the receiving end of yet another huge push. Not only he may be involved in the main event scene, but he is also expected to carry a bigger role for the next few months.

11 Bobby Lashley To Turn Heel

via wwe.com

Bobby Lashley's return to the WWE generated some excitement among fans, but it wasn't quick before that faded away. Not only has he failed to improve his mic skills, but the booking team hasn't done him any favors. Fans haven't been receptive to him as a face, which sparked rumors of a potential heel turn for Lashley. Some have even speculated that he could be Paul Heyman's next client - although it seems like Vince McMahon seems hesitant about turning Lashley heel. Having been lost in the shuffle since joining Monday Night Raw, the next few months will be decisive for Lashley's career.

10 Jeff Hardy Transitions Into Brother Nero

via wwe.com

When Jeff Hardy was out of action, Matt had transitioned into his previous persona - leaving many fans pondering whether the former would follow suit. As it turned out, WWE put those plans on hold since Matt was already involved in an angle with Bray Wyatt.

As for Jeff, despite continuous rumors regarding his transition into Brother Nero, it hasn't occurred yet in the WWE.

With his overall look has certainly undergone some changes, as well as a recent tweet from Matt teasing a re-introduction of Brother Nero - it will be interesting to see whether the company finally pulls the trigger after SummerSlam.

9 Becky Lynch Turns Heel

via celebmafia.com

Depending on who you ask, there are mixed feelings regarding a potential heel turn for Becky Lynch. While it would certainly give her a fresh identity in hopes pushing her to the next level, some believe that she would fail to succeed in the role. Considering her involvement in the title match at SummerSlam, many fans are now convinced that Lynch will pull of a surprise heel turn - especially since she has given slight hints on SmackDown over the past few weeks. But seeing how WWE has been hesitant to do so with the likes of Sasha Banks and Bayley, it remains to be seen whether they proceed with the heel turn this time.

8 Rey Mysterio Returns To The WWE

via wwe.com

The ongoing negotiations between WWE and Rey Mysterio have dragged on for many months. And while rumors had previously claimed that he inked a deal with the company, Mysterio recently confirmed that he hasn't reached a deal yet. In the previous year, he has appeared at the 2018 Royal Rumble and once again at the Greatest Royal Rumble - neither of which led to a full-time return. Given his commitment to appear at All In, rumors indicate that Mysterio may be heading to the WWE afterwards - so you can expect him back in the mix as soon as September.

7 Baron Corbin Becomes The No.1 Contender For The Universal Championship

via wwe.com

Moving to Monday Night Raw has done wonders for the career of Baron Corbin, who has advanced further in a few months than he had in previous years. With a new look and persona along the way, he has become one of the top heels on the brand.

Recently, he defeated Finn Balor in a clean manner - leading to rumors that Corbin could be in for a huge push.

With his name appearing as a potential number one contender, we wouldn't be surprised to see him challenge Roman Reigns if he finally gets to defeat Brock Lesnar.

6 Brock Lesnar Takes A Break From The WWE

via wwe.com

Some fans will be quick to point out that Brock Lesnar has essentially been taking a break throughout his second stint with the WWE, especially when you compare him to fellow main eventers. With only 49 matches since 2012, Lesnar is on a very light schedule that has gotten on the nerves of the fans - especially since he has been reigning as the WWE Universal Champion. With his contract reportedly expiring soon, as well as his confirmed return to the UFC, there is a general belief that Lesnar will be away from the WWE for some time.

5 Ronda Rousey Reigns As Champion Until WrestleMania

via wwe.com

There are some fans who believe that Alexa Bliss will be retaining the WWE Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam, and while that may turn out to be true, there have been rumors about the company wanting to make Ronda Rousey the official face of the division. And despite her popularity as well as early dominance, it is only possible through a title reign.

Once Rousey wins the Women's Championship, she is expected to have a lengthy reign that will likely extend to WrestleMania 35. If she does end up losing to Bliss at SummerSlam, it certainly won't be in a clean fashion.

4 Paul Heyman Takes On A New Client

via wwe.com

For so long, Paul Heyman has been associated with Brock Lesnar until their recent split on Raw when the latter attacked his former manager. It doesn't appear that WWE will be taking Heyman off television, which means that he will likely have to find a new client to stick around. There have already been some speculation about possible names being partnered with Heyman from Roman Reigns to Bobby Lashley, and even Ronda Rousey. It will certainly be exciting to see Heyman with a new face to hype up as he could assist in establishing any talent on the WWE roster.

3 WWE To End Brand Split

via wwe.com

With the information being revealed regarding SmackDown's future contract with FOX, rumors have increased regarding the end of the brand split. We recently witnessed it with the pay-per-views, and reports suggest that it may take effect on the brands as well.

Once SmackDown begins airing on FOX, the network will expect the top stars at all times in hopes of attaining the highest ratings - so we may begin to see the transition as early as this year.

And while some view it favorably, there are others who prefer the current system since it allows more talents to get air time.

2 Daniel Bryan Leaves The WWE

via wwe.com

It is well-known by now that Daniel Bryan's contract expires in September. Prior to his return to the ring, he had threatened to leave the company if WWE didn't allow him to wrestle again. Despite his in-ring return, Bryan has yet to find an agreement with the company - which is why he has been somewhat lost in the shuffle. Two weeks ago, there were rumors that Bryan had extended his contract, although they were proven to be false as he continues to contemplate his future with the company. Based on his reluctance to re-sign, it wouldn't be shocking to see him leave the WWE.

1 Hulk Hogan Returns To WWE Television

via miami.com

With WWE officially reinstating Hulk Hogan into the Hall of Fame last month, it became a matter of time before he returned to the company. He was recently spotted backstage at SmackDown, so it is evident that Hogan is preparing to appear on television once again. Considering the reason WWE let him go in the first place, there are mixed feelings about his return among WWE Superstars and fans. While some are more than happy to have him back, there are plenty of fans who have lost respect for Hogan. Regardless of how fans may feel regarding Hogan returning into the mix, it is certain to happen in the near future.
