A new year represents a new beginning for the WWE with many Superstars hoping that they will be heading towards greater success. With every passing year, there are a number of performers who benefit from a push to the top and go on to have the most memorable run of their careers. On the other hand, you have some Superstars who suddenly become an afterthought as they struggle to replicate past success.

But of course that's not entirely up to the Superstars since Vince McMahon is calling the shots after all, as he continues to determine who gets pushed to the forefront. As we all know, the wrestling industry can be totally unpredictable as we have seen many stars created out of thin air, while other names appeared to disappear overnight. But based on the various rumors around the web, as well as the ongoing direction of these Superstars, we have determined how 2019 will play out for multiple WWE Superstars.

All predictions could turn out to be wrong since nothing is ever guaranteed when it comes to the WWE, but of course it's always interesting to speculate ahead of time. With 2019 coming up, some fans will be hoping that WWE will be creating new stars and advancing others to a whole new level. But of course that means that other Superstars would have to take a backseat in order to advance the careers of their co-workers. Here are 10 WWE stars who will thrive in 2019 and 10 who will become irrelevant:

20 Thrive: Finn Balor

via wwe.com

Finn Balor hasn't had a bad year by any means, but he wasn't quite as pushed as fans had hoped he would be. Many were hoping to see him back on top, and while he has retained his popularity - Balor hasn't exactly been a main event player.

2019 will present a new opportunity for Balor to reclaim his spot although the competition has only increased since he was last WWE Universal Champion.

Based on his popularity among fans and WWE officials, as well as his all-around talent, we believe that Balor is headed for a big year and perhaps his most successful to date.

19 Will Be Irrelevant: Elias

via wwe.com

While many are expecting Elias to advance even further the card with another year under his belt, we suspect that he will be taking a few steps back in 2019. He hasn't progressed as a wrestler throughout his WWE stint, which has held him back from reaching his full potential as his opportunities have been limited. And while he remains a solid promoer on any given night, it may not be enough for Elias to thrive in the WWE. Barring major improvements as an in-ring competitor, Elias will struggle to impress next year and may even fall down the card.

18 Thrive: Big E

via wrestlezone.com

Fans have been hoping to see a solo push for Big E following his success as a member of The New Day. In the past, reports have suggested that Vince McMahon views him highly as a Superstar and wanted to insert him into the main event picture at some point. As Big E continues to be one of the most beloved Superstars on the roster, we predict that he will have a major year in 2019 where he finally breaks out on his own. And if he were booked correctly by the creative team, Big E may even reach greater heights than most fans had anticipated.

17 Will Be Irrelevant: Bray Wyatt

via wwe.com

One could make a case for Bray Wyatt already being irrelevant as his status continues to take a hit with every passing year. He was once considered to be one of the most innovative and intriguing stars in the WWE, but his stock has plummeted in the past two years.

Even the brief angle with Matt Hardy couldn't get fans invested in Wyatt's character again as he has lost too many times to be taken seriously at this point.

In 2019, we predict that Wyatt will have his worst year in the WWE to this date as he continues to struggle finding a role on the roster.

16 Will Thrive: The Miz

via wwe.com

The Miz could be gearing up for another World title run in 2019 considering his success in the past few years. Once AJ Styles drops the title, The Miz is among the candidates who could hold the title next as he has established himself as one of the best heels in the WWE. We expect a strong 2019 showing from The Miz where he will likely be featured in top storylines once again and may end up having his best overall year with the company. Considering that he has improved as a performer since his last run as champion, The Miz is certainly worthy of another run at the top.

15 Will Be Irrelevant: Bobby Roode

via wwe.com

This year, Bobby Roode began fading into irrelevancy as he has lost all momentum since his move to Raw. He was once leading the NXT brand as champion, but has become an afterthought in recent times. Roode's random booking hasn't helped him the slightest as fans have clearly lost interest in his character. While a heel turn could potentially save his WWE run, Roode is on track to be irrelevant in 2019. Some major changes are needed for Roode to re-establish himself as a prominent member of the WWE roster, otherwise next year will be anything but glorious for him.

14 Thrive: Bobby Lashley

via wwe.com

Following a disappointing start to his second stint with the WWE, Bobby Lashley may finally turn his career around thanks to a recent heel turn on Raw. He had been unable to connect with the fans as a face, becoming another bland Superstar on the roster without any real direction.

The WWE has certainly made the right move in attempting to make Lashley a dominant heel, which could result in a fruitful year for him.

We wouldn't be surprised to see Lashley in the main event picture during 2019 since management seems to be high on him as a performer.

13 Will Be Irrelevant: Sasha Banks

via instagram.com

It could be said that Sasha Banks has already become irrelevant with her role decreasing significantly in the past year. She is no longer one of the faces of the women's division on Raw, and it doesn't seem like she will be returning to that level anytime soon. 2019 could prove to be even worse for Banks as we know that the WWE will continue to revolve Raw around Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss - not to mention that Nikki Bella may continue to appear. Given that WWE will be looking to elevate new talents along the way, it means that Banks won't have a memorable role next year.

12 Thrive: Mandy Rose

via sherdogforums.com

One of the younger talents who could receive a huge push next year is Mandy Rose, who has reportedly already managed to make an impression on Vince McMahon. And if the boss is as high on her as reports indicate, then Rose will likely be playing a huge role on SmackDown.

She has already been featured constantly since her arrival to the main roster, but we suspect that will only increase in the upcoming months.

There is even a possibility that Rose could be groomed as a future SmackDown Women's Champion, and her rise to the top may begin as soon as 2019.

11 Will Be Irrelevant: Randy Orton

via wwe.com

As long as he is an active Superstar, Randy Orton will always have a role in the WWE since he is one of the most accomplished members of the roster. But it's unlikely that he will ever be the face of a brand again in his career since his best days are well behind him. Orton is no longer able to generate huge interest among fans, most of whom have grown tired of seeing him in the main event scene. We predict a down year coming up for Orton who has been getting stale with his booking as of late.

10 Thrive: Samoa Joe

via wwe.com

A real main event push is long overdue for Samoa Joe by now. While he has gotten a taste of the scene as the number one contender for the WWE Championship, Joe has yet to take the next big step as he always falls short. 2019 will most likely be his best year in the WWE thus far since Joe has proven to be one of the better all-around performers today, while also showing to be healthy throughout his run on SmackDown.

It's an entirely different story whether Vince McMahon admires him enough to make him World Champion, but that could be in the books for Joe in the near future.

9 Will Be Irrelevant: Asuka

via wwe.com

Asuka may have already reached the irrelevant territory as her career has undergone a complete turnaround since her loss at WrestleMania 34. She had been one of the prominent figures of the women's division since her NXT stint, but Asuka has taken a seat back to other talents since her undefeated streak came to an end.

Given how she has been booked in recent months, we suspect that 2019 will end up being even worse for Asuka.

Her role seems to decrease with every passing month, and it may be too late for the WWE to fix her overall reputation.

8 Thrive: Peyton Royce

via instagram.com

Peyton Royce has already made a name for herself on SmackDown as a member of The IIconics, and it seems like bigger things await her in 2019. Not only is she very popular among her peers, but management seems to be high on Royce - which could lead to a push within the next year. There is also a possibility that both members of The IIconics advance further up the card without splitting up, but that seems to be a rarity in the WWE. Royce has proven to have the required talent to challenge for the SmackDown Women's Championship in the future.

7 Will Be Irrelevant: Rey Mysterio

via cagesideseats.com

As a legendary figure, it's safe to say that Rey Mysterio will never become irrelevant since he has given plenty to the wrestling industry. And while he has already generated buzz with his return to the WWE, we predict that the company won't put him in a position to succeed. It's only a matter of time before the nostalgia expires, which means that some fans may grow to be indifferent regarding Mysterio.

We have seen it happen with multiple legendary Superstars over the years, many of whom were misused by the WWE only to lose all momentum after a few months.

6 Thrive: Andrade "Cien" Almas

via wwe.com

Given everything that we know about him, as well as reports around the web, the future is bright for Andrade "Cien" Almas.

When you have the approval of Vince McMahon then anything is possible as far as success goes since he is still the main driving force behind all major decisions.

With reports suggesting that WWE is looking for a new Latin star, Almas would be the most suitable pick since he fits the criteria. His transition from NXT to SmackDown has been smooth thus far, and we predict an even more triumphant year for Almas once 2019 comes around.

5 Will Be Irrelevant: Baron Corbin

via wwe.com

At the moment, Baron Corbin's WWE run could go either way as he may finally become a legitimate star, but there is also a good chance that he fades away from the spotlight. His career has been filled with ups and downs thus far with the latest character change on Raw failing to significantly impact his stature as a Superstar. Corbin has shown some improvements, but perhaps not enough to keep the WWE invested in him for a long time. It is very likely that the company will move on from the Corbin experiment in 2019, as he slowly begins to fade into irrelevancy.

4 Thrive: Sami Zayn

via wwe.com

Sami Zayn has been away from the WWE since his last appearance at Monkey in the Bank, and will most likely be sidelined out of action for a few more months. He was gaining momentum prior to his injury thanks to his run as a heel, but Zayn will most likely come back better than ever. Given that fans are behind him, and the fact that Zayn has made a fan out of several WWE officials - we predict that the best has yet to come for him. 2019 may be the year in which Zayn finally wins a championship in the WWE.

3 Will Be Irrelevant: Rusev

via wwe.com

With WWE failing to pounce on the popularity of Rusev, his momentum has slowed down in recent times. He remains over with the fans, but not quite as much as he could have been if the WWE had taken advantage of the support he was receiving earlier this year.

He has been stuck at the very same place for a while now with no indications that he will be turning his career around in the near future.

Unless WWE can finally maximize the full potential of Rusev, then he is much more likely to slowly but surely become irrelevant in 2019.

2 Thrive: Drew McIntyre

via wwe.com

Barring any major troubles for Drew McIntyre, he is set to become a top WWE star for years to come. From management to fans, everyone seems to be aboard the hype as McIntyre is deemed to have the whole package. A main event push is looking extremely realistic in his future since McIntyre has the full support of Vince McMahon. It's only a matter of time before he moves on to the next level, and we believe that it may take place some time during 2019. McIntyre has the potential to be a major draw for many years to come.

1 Will Be Irrelevant: Daniel Bryan

via wwe.com

Daniel Bryan's inclusion on this list is undoubtedly the most controversial pick of all since he remains one of the most popular Superstars in WWE. But that means very little when Bryan isn't being put in a position to be at his best, as his creative booking has been very random to say the least in the past few months. Bryan hasn't come close to reaching the same heights of success that he had prior to his retirement, and may be lost in the shuffle come next year. While Bryan will always retain a large fanbase, 2019 may end up being his worst year in the WWE since he first moved to the main roster.
