Wrestlers come and go, especially in the world of WWE where most superstars are simply just cogs in the machine of Vince McMahon's machine which never stops churning. Unless you are a Stone Cold or an Undertaker, your departure is never really felt because the company has that much talent that it can replace someone in a heartbeat.

With competition ever present now, the independent scene seems to be growing stronger by the minute with every major show from Ring Of Honor or New Japan getting bigger and bigger, yet one of WWE's longest rivals of the modern era had fallen slightly behind. Impact Wrestling, formerly known as TNA and various other names struggled to keep up and with poor management, the company nearly went bust. However, under its new name a rebrand is taking place for Impact and the future once again looks bright.

With several former WWE talents in its roster such as Austin Aries, the company is looking to grow stronger which means only one thing... It will eventually pick up any talents that WWE doesn't want. It is a method that worked for Impact a long time ago and one that is worth trying again and considering WWE's loaded roster, there are simply too many people and not enough spots. Because of this, talent will be getting moved on while some will choose to jump and others will call it a day and hang up the boots with retirement.

This list will give you an indication of which wrestlers you can look out for to be doing one of those things in the near future, picking eight WWE Superstars who are Impact bound and eight who will be retiring in the near future.

16 Will Retire: Sheamus

It may seem surprising to see Sheamus here, after all, the Celtic Warrior is arguably putting in some of the greatest work of his career right now alongside Cesaro with The Bar and has had an excellent WWE career ever since debuting, as one of the most underrated talents on the roster. However, an underlying injury that has been nagging the Irishman might prove to be his undoing as many people don't know that Sheamus is suffering from stenosis, which is causing him serious neck problems.

WWE has been much more careful with the health of its talents in recent years.

When you consider how careful WWE has been with injuries in recent years from the retirement of Edge and Paige to the handling of Daniel Bryan, it might not be too far away that Sheamus suffers the same fate. This is especially true when considering the physical style he works in the ring.

15 Impact Bound: Rusev

The brilliant thing about Rusev Day is that it can take place anywhere, at any time and Impact would likely do anything to acquire the talents of Rusev if he does decide to walk away from WWE, which he has teased several times now.

WWE seemingly doesn't understand exactly what it has with Rusev who is incredibly over with fans on his own.

He is selling a ridiculous amount of merchandise for someone who is stuck in the mid-card, but the company just doesn't enjoy pushing people who get over naturally. Impact, on the other hand, will likely be more than happy to push Rusev to the moon, potentially as a monster heel or as a huge babyface, he would certainly be a top star in the company which he deserves.

14 Will Retire: Kane

via nypost.com

An argument can certainly be made that Kane is a first ballot Hall Of Famer when his time comes to receive the honor. A true legend of the industry and one of the greatest big men of all time, his gimmick is one that will go down in history.

However, despite all the fond memories people have of The Big Red Machine, there comes a time in everyone's career when they should hang up the boots.

That time for Kane is certainly around the corner. While he did a fine job in his recent feud with Braun Strowman the fact WWE has a new monster in Strowman means Kane is no longer needed. With his political career becoming more of a priority it is time to call wrestling a day and put everything he has into that.

13 Impact Bound: Tye Dillinger

Photo: WWE.com

The Perfect 10 would be a perfect signing for Impact who is in a desperate need for brilliant wrestlers who can get over with a crowd, which is exactly what Tye Dillinger is as a wrestler who can work as a babyface or a heel, he has the look and the gimmick to be a major star. After getting over to a fantastic degree in NXT, Dillinger has totally flopped on the main roster, largely down to the fact that WWE simply hasn't booked him correctly. Not giving him any TV time and throwing him in random matches with zero storylines, it is no wonder the thunderous "10" chants have totally died down to a whimper.

After spending so many years in WWE developmental, it is clear the company doesn't recognize the talent they have in Dillinger and this NXT Alumni would be best served to call it quits and hit the refresh button with Impact, where he would no doubt be a star once again.

12 Will Retire: R-Truth

via twitter.com

Some people might be surprised that R-Truth hasn't actually retired yet after he has been absent for so long until his recent WrestleMania 34 return in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal, but that break has been due to injury.

R-Truth hasn't done anything of significant value in an incredibly long time, with his Golden Truth tag team being the last thing worth talking about and even that is at a push, as they were mainly just a team to be squashed for others. Truth is a loyal company man and certainly a good hand to have around, but he might be best served following the approach of Mark Henry and transitioning into a backstage role with WWE, allowing the TV time to be given to a younger talent.

11 Impact Bound: Zack Ryder

Photo: WWE.com

Woo, woo, woo... you know it. If you didn't expect to see Zack Ryder on this list at some point then you haven't been watching the product long enough. At one stage, Ryder was one of, if not the most popular wrestler in WWE, and if are one of those people who hasn't been watching the product long enough, that information might be quite baffling to you.

But it is true. Ryder got himself over with his own YouTube channel before YouTube had really taken off as a platform and became everyone's favourite superstar, apart from Vince McMahon's. Despite the fact Ryder lives and breathes WWE and has been nothing but a perfect employee, WWE simply doesn't see the upside in him other than throwing him out for random matches. Ryder deserves better and he can get that at Impact where he could be part of the something special in helping bring the company back to the very top.

10 Will Retire: Rhyno

Via 411mania.com

A future WWE Hall Of Famer, Rhyno is someone who is fully respected by both fans and talent alike and is no doubt providing a huge help behind the scenes in teaching and helping the younger talent with life as a WWE Superstar.

On the other hand, it's now time for Rhyno to call it a day. There is nothing left for him to do in WWE and despite having one final run as champion alongside Heath Slater, there is no chance WWE is going to give him that spotlight again. Just watching him wrestle you can visibly tell he is a step behind now and while it's fun to see him every now and then, he is mainly being used in squash matches which could be a spot for a different talent, expect him to hang up the boots soon.

9 Impact Bound: Alicia Fox

Photo: WWE.com

Right now the women's division is one of WWE's main priorities and it's clear the company is investing everything they can into making it on the same level as the men. From bringing in Ronda Rousey to signing some of the very best workers from around the world.

Alicia Fox is one of the division's veterans and she has suffered from that with many fans linking her with how the women used to be, with plenty of people not believing she can wrestle, which isn't the case. But this situation has meant that she has been bypassed by countless wrestlers and she is firmly at the back of the line for any sort of a push. When you throw in the incident Foxy had with Rousey's husband during WrestleMania weekend, it's probably in her best interest to jump ship to a company which also boasts a very talented women's roster.

8 Will Retire: Kurt Angle

Photo: SportsKeeda.com

What does Kurt Angle have left to do in wrestling at this point? He has won an Olympic gold medal, countless championships in various promotions and is a WWE Hall Of Famer, the man has done it all and had one of the very best careers of all time. Angle wanted the return to WWE and he has had it. Working in the Raw general manager role has been a fun way to use him and the WWE Universe has even been able to see him back in the ring, including his recent WrestleMania 34 showing, where his match stole the entire show.

It has been a fun nostalgia trip with Angle but it is clear he has lost a step in the ring and on the microphone and it would be smart for him to quit while he was on top.

He should walk away from the ring and the WWE spotlight for a while, making random legend appearances as people like Stone Cold and HBK do.

7 Impact Bound: The Ascension

Photo: WWE.com

At one point The Ascension was the most dominant tag team in NXT and fans had huge expectations for what the pair could achieve on the main roster as dominant monsters that could run through anything in their paths.

Sadly, that never worked out as the once aggressive duo simply became jobbers for other talents, struggling to find a place on the roster.

Now they are mostly seen entering the Fashion Police segments with Breezango. With Bludgeon Brothers and Authors Of Pain now taking up the spots that The Ascension would hope to fill, there is no real sign that anything is going to change for them, and a move to Impact would be the best thing for them if they are hoping for some Tag Titles again in their careers.

6 Will Retire: Mickie James

Photo: WWE.com

When she made her return to WWE fans had high hopes for Mickie James, considering her talent and the fact she is a well-known name amongst the WWE Universe it seemed like she was going to be given a strong run amongst a good group of talented female wrestlers. However, after her initial first few months, it was made very clear that creative didn't have any real plans for James other than to be in the corner for another wrestler and was just brought back to beef up the roster.

Considering that James is one of the veterans on the roster and the amount of new NXT females that are being brought in, there might not be a place for James in the long term.

But with James unlikely to return to Impact, a retirement and Hall of Fame induction might be the next step.

5 Impact Bound: Wesley Blake

Photo: WWE.com

Do you remember when Wesley Blake was an NXT Tag Team Champion? It seems like an incredibly long time ago that Blake and Murphy were dominating NXT with Alexa Bliss by their side and while Bliss has certainly had the best success out of the three, Blake has clearly had the least.

A few months ago you could have lumped Buddy Murphy into this alongside Blake as it appeared that WWE had no plans for either man, but since then the Best Kept Secret has gone on to play a key role in 205 Live's rebranding and looks set for a future Cruiserweight Championship shot. Blake, on the other hand, remains to do absolutely nothing and it is a real shame that someone of his talent is just being wasted on the sidelines when he could be making an 'impact' somewhere else.

4 Will Retire: John Cena

Photo: WWE.com

There is no doubt that John Cena is one of the greatest of all time, he has done everything there is to do in WWE and he is a first-ballot Hall Of Famer for sure and even though he claims he doesn't want to go away from WWE, his future does belong somewhere else.

Cena has already begun following the same path as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in terms of going and breaking into the movie industry.

Cena is becoming a household name due to his work in Hollywood. While he enjoys working a crazy schedule, should he want to dominate the movie world like he has done WWE, there is no way he can do both, just like The Rock, he will be forced to pick one, and at this point in his life that choice will be the glitz and glamour of the movies, meaning a major retirement angle could be in his future.

3 Impact Bound: Neville

Photo: WWE.com

What is happening with Neville is just a huge shame, let's be honest. Neville is one of the very best wrestlers in the world, not just in WWE, but the entire world and the fact WWE has his contract on freeze, not using him is disgraceful. Whatever the issue Neville had when he decided to walk out on Raw is something the company should be doing everything to fix because he is far too valuable to WWE and management don't seem to understand it.

However, they will soon realize exactly how valuable he is when he eventually gets away from the ironclad grip WWE has on him and Impact would be a perfect home for him, following his former Cruiserweight, Austin Aries.

2 Will Retire: Goldust

Photo: WWE.com

Just like many others on the retirement section of this list, Goldust has simply done everything there is to do in a wrestling career and he is coming towards the final stages of his wrestling career. Despite a failed attempt at a heel turn after his split from R-Truth, WWE has shown no real interest in pushing Goldust or using him in any storylines other than one-off matches, which is fine, but eventually, there will come a time when he is no longer needed in that role.

Considering his brother Cody Rhodes is set to put on one of the biggest independent shows in history with "ALL IN," now could be a good time to walk away from WWE, allowing him to have one more major moment before officially retiring.

1 Impact Bound: Dolph Ziggler

Photo: StillRealToUs.com

For how many years now has Dolph Ziggler been popping up on lists like this? While it is a testament to him that he has stuck around in WWE all this time, eventually Ziggler must say enough is enough when it comes to his booking. There is no doubt that he is one of the most talented wrestlers in the WWE locker room, that is something he has proven time and time again. Anytime Ziggler is given something of worth to do, he knocks it out of the park, yet the company continuously decide to cut his momentum.

Ziggler couldn't have done any more to try and get himself over with the WWE management as he has already done it with the fans, but it is just clear that he isn't going to be given that chance. However, should he move to Impact, there is absolutely no doubt that he would be a top star that could carry the company, giving him the run his work deserves.
