WWE has never been a simple place, and as such, we've been treated (if that's the right word) to a lot of weird and just downright odd moments on WWE television since they first went live well over two decades ago.

They're never going to hit a home run ten times out of ten and we can understand that, but there have certainly been more than a couple of instances in which it's been hard to stick up for WWE.

One of the biggest reasons for that is the storylines themselves because as you're about to hear, they're just a bit weird.

10 Anonymous RAW GM

For months and months on end, the sound of the Anonymous RAW General Manager’s ringtone would haunt the WWE Universe. There was a lot of anticipation as to who the GM might actually be, especially seeing as it featured in the main event of WrestleMania one year.

While Hornswoggle was supposedly the man behind the magic all along, it’s pretty clear to see that this was just done as a way out for WWE so they didn’t have to come up with a more valid option to be the face behind the role.

9 Kane Vs. Imposter Kane

When a man dressed as the original Kane character confronted the current one, post-mask removal, it had a lot of people talking. Nobody really knew what kind of direction WWE was going in, until the two-faced off and Imposter Kane defeated normal Kane pretty easily.

After one more segment between the two, we never saw Imposter Kane again, and we just can’t really wrap our heads around what the thought process was behind this. It didn’t make sense back then, and it certainly doesn’t now in any way whatsoever.

8 The Invasion

The number of stars that jumped back and forth between WCW, ECW, and WWE (or WWF) during the infamous Invasion angle was just insane. It was impossible to keep track of it all, and above all else, it made no sense to rush into a storyline of this magnitude when many of WCW’s old stars were tied down to long term contracts.

This is one of the big what-ifs in WWE history, and we would be fascinated to actually sit and listen to a description of what the company was trying to accomplish.

7 Shawn Michaels & God

When Vince McMahon forced Shawn Michaels to team up with God himself to go against himself and Shane McMahon, you just knew it was going to be handled incredibly poorly – and it was.

This ‘team’ wasn’t a team at all, and to this day we just can’t wrap our heads around why Vince thought this would be a good idea.

It’s incredibly insulting to religious individuals, with a spotlight serving as God’s ‘entrance’ to the ring for the Backlash tag match.

Idiocy at its finest.

6 Shane’s Lockbox

Shane-McMahon

When Shane McMahon returned to WWE in 2016, he teased a ‘lockbox’ featuring something, or more than one thing, that could bring his father Vince McMahon to his knees.

This led to a WrestleMania 32 Hell in a Cell match between Shane McMahon and The Undertaker. While it was pretty well received at the time, we just didn’t like the fact that we never got to find out what was happening with Shane’s big secret.

The whole storyline, in truth, felt like a big waste of time.

5 Katie Vick

The less said about the Katie Vick angle the better because to this day, it’s still considered to be one of the most confusing and disgusting things WWE has ever done.

We all know the tale behind it, with Triple H using this ‘Katie Vick’ character from Kane’s past in order to try and get inside his head. Then, we had the horrendous segment with HHH at a funeral parlor, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Kane has been involved in some real stinkers of feuds.

4 The Higher Power

The Higher Power angle involved a mysterious entity instructing The Undertaker to do a lot of pretty weird stuff, including ‘sacrificing’ Stephanie McMahon and torturing Stone Cold Steve Austin. So then, as you can imagine, WWE decided to make Vince McMahon the Higher Power because of course, they did.

It made no sense and we’re absolutely convinced that there was some kind of alternative in place that we never got to see. If that conspiracy theory of ours is in fact true, we’d pay a lot of money for WWE to recreate the angle and make it, you know, good.

3 The Gobbledy Gooker

The build-up to Survivor Series 1990 saw a giant egg being spotted around WWE shows, with many questioning what exactly it meant. Some thought an exciting new superstar was going to make their debut at the landmark show, and in a weird way, they were right.

However, when it came to the Gooker, we still struggle with the logic behind the move to this day. Was someone else supposed to be in the egg? What was the Gooker’s end goal? Should he have become WWE Champion? We need some answers.

2 GTV

Back during the Attitude Era, a variety of black and white images and videos from behind the scenes in WWE began debuting on WWE television. Despite this weirdly intriguing premise it turned out to be less than effective, with a lot of fans finding the footage pretty cringeworthy.

In the end, the idea was seemingly shelved, but we never received a definitive answer as to who exactly was behind the madness.

In all likelihood, the majority of fans don’t actually care, but we want these loose ends tied up, brother.

1 Million Dollar Mania

Million Dollar Mania saw Vince McMahon giving away his millions on live television for weeks on end, only to stop without much of an explanation. Oh, and someone seemingly tried to kill him again by making the set collapse on top of him, which was never really explained or followed upon.

Again, the idea was fairly interesting but aside from being a clear and obvious attempt to boost the ratings, it just didn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Was it kayfabe or not? Even today, we are still not willing to commit to an answer.
