WWE is currently at a crossroads in terms of power control backstage. Vince McMahon is still firmly at the helm, while his son-in-law Triple H begins to have an increasing influence on a weekly basis. While they may agree on a lot of things (they must for Vince to have allowed Hunter in the role), they do have some very obvious differences. It is clear Hunter wants a larger focus on wrestling ability rather than simply getting men or women who have "the look" that Vince so adores. This can be seen by NXT, a show he has control over.

Both men also like different types of performers, with Vince preferring the cookie cutter 'star' such as Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman, and Hunter taking more chances on different performers like Samoa Joe and Finn Balor. Because of this, both men are clearly pushing for different things in terms of storylines and which wrestlers join the company and get pushed when they arrive. While it might be difficult for those backstage, for the fans it is incredibly interesting to see where things are going. With the future of WWE in Triple H's hands, there is no telling what sort of direction the company may go.

With storyline rumors constant in the world of professional wrestling, this list will take a look at some of those and decide who is more excited for it, Vince McMahon or Triple H?

16 Triple H: Sami Zayn Becomes World Champion

via wrestlingnews.com

It may not happen as the loveable underdog that most fans had originally hoped for in a similar way to his NXT career, but the WWE may finally positioning Sami Zayn to be a main event talent with his heel turn and partnership with Kevin Owens.

Zayn is someone Triple H obviously believes in after the way he was booked throughout his time in NXT, and with The Game having more influence it is no surprise to see him starting to climb the ladder again. It is only a matter of time before WWE gives him a run with the belt and Hunter will certainly be a key player behind that taking place, with WWE likely pulling the trigger on another chapter in the Zayn/Owens feud to make it happen.

15 Vince: Rob Gronkowski Signing With WWE

via heavy.com

If there is one thing that Vince McMahon loves it is having celebrity influences on his show, something that he has done from the moment he could. Some come in and work as a one-off such as Hugh Jackman, while others stick around and make a more lasting impact like Ronda Rousey is set to do.

One name that is highly interested in making the jump to wrestling (and that Vince is interested in bringing in) is NFL star Rob Gronkowski, who is best friends with WWE's Mojo Rawley. WWE has used his star power before back at WrestleMania 33 when he helped Mojo win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal and it has been rumored he will be signing with WWE in the near future, something Vince is certainly looking forward to.

14 Triple H: Johnny Gargano VS Tommaso Ciampa

NXT is Triple H's baby, that much is well known. Therefore he is likely very excited about every rumored storyline that is coming to the show in the coming months, but one he is likely most excited about is the continuation of the Johnny Gargano and Tomaso Ciampa feud.

The seeds for this feud were planted when #DIY broke up back at NXT Takeover: Chicago and Triple H has done a great job booking it since. With Ciampa's injury meaning they had to take things much slower, it is been one that fans have had to wait for. However, Hunter has huge faith in Gargano, claiming he is the best pure babyface in wrestling right now and he is certainly going to give this the attention and detail that it deserves after waiting so long to pull the trigger.

13 Vince: Bobby Lashley's Return

via wrestlingedge.com

Rumors have speculated that Bobby Lashley has recently re-signed with WWE and is set to make his return to the company after spending time away working on an MMA career and wrestling for Impact Wrestling.

Lashley has always been a firm favourite of Vince McMahon's which was obvious the last time he worked for the company and was heavily pushed, hence why he was involved in the McMahon/Donald Trump feud that led to Vince going bald. His return is a project that Vince is likely to be very excited about bringing in more big guys who fit his mould, and with Brock Lesnar potentially leaving after WrestleMania 34, it is likely Vince will have big plans for the former ECW star.

12 Triple H: AJ Styles On Raw

via bleacherreport.com

When the brand split made its return to WWE the decision was made to place AJ Styles on SmackDown Live, giving him the chance to prove himself as a main event talent, something he has done easily.

Styles has become the 'face that runs the place' over on SmackDown and has been one of the top stars in the company ever since, which makes it inevitable that he will be making his move back to the red brand in the near future. A move to Raw would really prove WWE's faith in Styles, and Triple H would very likely be excited about seeing Styles mix it up on WWE's flagship show in the main event each and every week.

11 Vince: Roman Reigns Gets Another WrestleMania Moment

via wwe.com

It's been an ongoing experiment for over four years now, but Vince McMahon is clearly very high on Roman Reigns, and he has been from the very start, making him the standout star of the Shield. He is set to headline his fourth WrestleMania in a row this year in New Orleans and it will be this show that sees him officially become 'the guy' in the entire company. With Brock Lesnar potentially on his way out and John Cena now part time, WWE are going to pull the trigger on Reigns whether the fans want it or not.

After all this build it is time for Roman to take the Universal Championship and take the role he has been prepared for over the past few years. Whether it is a success or not remains to be seen, but WWE will be having Reigns as a dominant champion coming out of 'Mania.

10 Triple H: Post-WrestleMania NXT Call-Ups

via sportskeeda.com

We all know it is happening, it is just a question of who is getting called up from NXT when WrestleMania season is finished with and WWE begins to focus its attention on the build to SummerSlam. Whether it happens through a draft or people just appear, WWE will certainly be bringing several names, likely in all divisions from tag-teams and male wrestlers to women and cruiserweights to give the rosts a fresh boost.

Of course, each new wrestler will need a storyline to introduce them to the WWE Universe who doesn't watch NXT and Triple H will likely be desperate to oversee that taking place to ensure they are treated like stars.

9 Vince: John Cena Breaks Ric Flair's Record

via wwe.com

John Cena has been the poster boy for WWE for an incredibly long time and Vince McMahon has been the figurehead behind that decision from the very start, believing he had the biggest star of all time at his disposal, something that could be true.

Cena is currently a 16 time World Champion, with nobody in history holding the title more times, he currently shares the incredible record with the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. With Cena still having plenty of life in him, it is inevitable that one more record-breaking run with the title will come his way. While Triple H might be trying to usher in a new generation of main event quality talent, Vince is certainly excited about giving Cena one more run to break Flair's record, solidifying him as one of the all-time greats.

8 Triple H: Brother Nero

via sportskeeda.com

Jeff Hardy has been out of action since September when he tore his rotator cuff on an episode of Raw and the WWE Universe has been patiently waiting for his return ever since, but that return could be quite different.

It's fair to say that the Woken Universe has been missing something, not quite connecting in the way that people had hoped it would. One of the best things about TNA's Broken Universe was the characters that were part of it, with Jeff Hardy's, Brother Nero being one of them. Triple H has his finger on the pulse of what fans want and things that work outside of WWE. Instead of Vince's approach to ignore them, Hunter tends to embrace them, so Jeff's return could easily be as Brother Nero.

7 Triple H: Daniel Bryan's In-Ring Return

via stillrealtous.com

Of course, this is all going to be down to whether WWE's medical team will clear him or not, because without that this rumored storyline will stay as just that, but there is no doubt WWE has been teasing a Daniel Bryan in-ring return several times lately.

There are so many reasons to do it as WWE would struggle to find someone who could create a bigger reaction than Bryan getting back into the ring and wrestling. The story has already begun between him and Shane McMahon on SmackDown, and if they can, WWE will be putting him back in the ring. While many people have the idea of Triple H not wanting him to wrestle, he has himself stated he would like to see Bryan back. Hunter put him over in a huge way at WrestleMania 30 and would certainly be excited to put him back.

6 Vince: Braun Strowman Becomes Universal Champion

via inquisitr.com

It is fair to say that right now Braun Strowman is the hottest star that the company has, gaining huge reactions every single week no matter what segment he is in, something that is pleasing Vince McMahon as Strowman has been a project of his for some time.

He is now in a position where WWE can really invest in him and thrust him to the very top and while it may not happen at WrestleMania this year, there is no doubt that within the next year Strowman is going to have the Universal Championship around his waist. While Triple H might be bringing in smaller, independent wrestlers, Vince still wants to push the big men and Strowman is a perfect example of someone who deserves that push and Vince is certainly ready to make that happen.

5 Triple H: 205 Live

via bleacherreport.com

This is not one storyline in general, but all rumored plans for WWE's cruiserweight brand moving forwards which includes new wrestlers joining the show and future plans for Drake Maverick potentially wrestling.

Vince McMahon relinquished his grip on 205 Live and has allowed The Game to take full control meaning this will now be one of Triple H's pet projects and something that he wants to be a success, much like he has done with NXT. The fact Triple H has created a full tournament surrounded by the Cruiserweight Championship heading into WrestleMania shows he has plenty of faith in what the roster can do and it will be interesting to see where he takes the brand.

4 Triple H: AJ Styles VS Shinsuke Nakamura

via culturedvultures.com

It is very clear that Triple H has his fingers all over this storyline, with two of the best wrestlers in the world potentially going head to head at WrestleMania 34, if Styles can make it through Fastlane as champion.

Seeing two smaller wrestlers heading into a potential 'Mania main event is not something that Vince McMahon would likely be booking and Triple H has had a huge influence on both men pushing them since they arrived, Shinsuke Nakamura in particular. It is a dream match for internet wrestling fans, an audience that Triple H tends to cater to a lot more than Vince. Hunter knows the quality that both men can bring and the fact that the call is being made to have them feud at the most important shows how much he believes in it.

3 Vince: The Miz Makes History

via pinterest.com

The Miz is the true definition of a company man, loyal, hard working and always representing the company in the best light, it is great to see The Miz finally getting that recognition, being treated as a major star.

With his own reality series on the way, movies, and more in-ring time each week, it is clear WWE believes in him and has big things planned. He currently sits in second for the most number of days as the Intercontinental Champion, a record he is very close to breaking. It is rumored that WWE will be allowing him to break that record with this current run, giving him something else to brag about which develops his character even further. Vince will be fully behind that decision simply due to the great service Miz has provided him.

2 Triple H: Bayley VS Sasha Banks

via stillrealtous.com

Two of the main areas that Triple H has focused on since he has been given more creative control has been women's wrestling and NXT talent and the slow building feud between best friends Sasha Banks and Bayley is something that Hunter is likely very excited about.

Triple H has overseen a feud between these ladies before when they were in NXT and it created arguably the greatest ever women's wrestling match of all time and it appears that WWE is building a new storyline between them for WrestleMania. Having teased Sasha's betrayal of her best friend Bayley, eventually, the pair are going to come to blows and a match on the Grandest Stage Of Them All is something that Triple H will be very hands on for, with a non-title women's match at 'Mania being a huge step forward for women.

1 Triple H: Jason Jordan Turns Heel

via wwe.com

Splitting up Jason Jordan and Chad Gable was a risk by WWE, with WWE starting the storyline of Jordan being Kurt Angle's son. It's fair to say it has been hit and miss since then, but Jordan has put in some excellent work. His facial work has been excellent and Jordan's arrogant actions have led many to expect a heel turn from the former Tag Team Champion. That storyline was rumored to kick off for a WrestleMania match with Seth Rollins, but due to Jordan's injury, it has been put on hold.

However, this could be the best thing that has happened to him, with his heel turn very much still a planned storyline. Instead of turning on Seth though, perhaps his return could see his heel turn take place against Kurt Angle instead. Triple H clearly sees big things in Jason's future after giving him this major storyline and he isn't going to give up on that just because of an injury, so expect big things for him when he comes back.
