One of WWE’s most popular stars revealed that he was told in 2013, he had 60 days to improve or he was gone.

It’s amazing to think that just a few years ago, Rusev was on the verge of losing his job in WWE. But, that’s exactly what he shared on Twitter in a post breaking down what he’d gone through over the last decade and in looking forward to 2020.

Rusev took to the social media platform and provided a year-by-year account of his experiences. From talking injuries to WrestleMania after his main roster debut to the creation of Rusev Day, he even mentioned that at one point, he was on the verge of getting canned, told if he didn’t get better in 60 days, he was going to be fired.

Clearly, he was able to find whatever it was developmental was looking for because he kept his job, was called up, pushed heavily as a heel and has essentially changed his gimmick multiple times, now getting main event time on Raw in one of WWE’s most viral storylines.

Today, he’s one of the company’s more popular stars and Rusev Day was one of the more popular gimmicks in 2019. There’s even been rumors in the past of Rusev wanting to leave WWE versus getting fired but those rumors aren’t accurate as he and WWE are about to ink a new multiple-year contract that will keep him in WWE and alongside his real-life wife Lana for years to come.

Rusev Has That “It Quality”

The funny thing is about Rusev... he’s willing to do and try anything and he’s able to make the most out of it because he has that ‘it’ quality the company is so often looking for.

It would have been a real shame had WWE not seen what he could do and let him go back in 2013.
