Following WrestleMania each year there tends to be a change in personnel on WWE TV as the company looks to freshen things up with the focus on the Summer season starting right away.

This often leads to many wrestlers who have been around for part-time purposes walking away to focus on other aspects of their lives, whilst it does also mean there can be new, fresh faces joining the product to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. The Raw after WrestleMania last year saw Bobby Lashley make his return to the company, and it would not be a surprise to see other ex-WWE Superstars making their returns at some stage following WrestleMania 35, especially if many other talents are heading the other way.

WWE often also has contracts expire just after WrestleMania, which is why the company tends to use this period of time to do some "Spring Cleaning" of its roster, releasing some of the talents with nothing to do that are no longer needed. This is the time of year where it's a perfect opportunity to start fresh, much like a TV show would begin its new season of programming. Since there's no 'offseason' in the WWE, the period after WrestleMania tends to be the time where most changes take place.

With all of that in mind, within this article we will be taking a look at 12 WWE Superstars who the WWE Universe wants gone following 'Mania 35, and 12 former WWE Superstars that the fans want to see make a return.

24 Gone: Brock Lesnar

via wwe.com

The Beast might be a freak of an athlete who has had a fantastic WWE career and draws in a fantastic crowd due to his star power, but the WWE fans who sit through Raw each and every week want nothing more than for him to go back to MMA. Lesnar is seemingly going to fight again in UFC and for the WWE Universe that isn’t a bad thing. Fans have grown tired of having a part-time champion who only appears when he wants to do, devaluing the Universal Championship.

Even when he does appear, the matches tend to be a paint by numbers exercise of suplexes and F5’s, and fans can tell he isn’t giving everything he is capable of, hence why the WWE Universe wants to see him go after WrestleMania.

23 Want Back: Matt Hardy

via wwe.com

While many fans believe that Matt Hardy has actually retired from professional wrestling, the WWE legend has never specifically said those words and has, in fact, made it clear on social media that he hopes to return one day. Whether it's as the Broken Warrior or back to basics with Jeff Hardy, it seems only fitting that Matt Hardy gets an actual retirement, with one final run and a match on a bigger stage than a random house show.

He is far too creative and talented to simply be allowed to walk away the way that he has and after WrestleMania season, fans would be more than happy to see the veteran back for one last run.

22 Gone: Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

via wwe.com

The WWE Universe was so excited when it was revealed that the Good Brothers had signed from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Coming in as one of the hottest tag teams in the world the expectations for them were incredibly high. Having tons of charisma and good in-ring ability, it seemed only natural that they would make a big impact in WWE, but that hasn’t been the case. Despite a few brief runs on top, WWE has failed to make the most of Anderson and Gallows, and the WWE Universe has had enough.

Fans don’t want them to leave because they don’t like the team, but rather they want them to leave because they would rather see them excel, either back in Japan or possibly even for the brand new company, All Elite Wrestling.

21 Want Back: Trish Stratus & Lita

via wwe.com

The two WWE Hall Of Famers might have only just finished up a brief run with the company as they took part in the Evolution PPV, but with the announcement of the Women’s Tag Team Titles, it seems like a perfect way to bring them back.

While WWE would be smart to develop some genuine tag teams first and let them compete for the titles, establishing some teams for the division, but then WWE should bring in Team Bestie to compete for the gold. The fans would easily get behind a storyline of two legends trying to win titles that never existed during their careers. Both women clearly enjoy mixing it up with the current roster and are genuinely best friends, making this a perfect situation for one more run

20 Gone: Mojo Rawley

via instagram.com

The main reason that the WWE Universe wants to see Mojo Rawley gone from the company is simply that he is rather annoying. His gimmick seems to be him just turned up to 100, but the issue is that the fans simply do not like him. WWE attempted to turn him heel in response to that, but the fans didn’t want to boo him because of a heel turn. They boo him because they do not like him, which is why WWE has totally buried him into Main Event, a show that very few fans watch.

With Mojo simply taking up a spot on the main roster that somebody currently in NXT could be using, it might be time for WWE to give up on this one, admitting that he isn’t going to become a top star and let him go

19 Want Back: Jason Jordan

via wwe.com

The situation surrounding Jason Jordan was incredibly tough. Finally getting his big singles push and making the most out of his role on Raw only for a serious neck injury to come along and potentially end his in-ring career. However, Jordan hasn’t given up on making a return to the ring and has continued working hard to get back ever since and after all the work he has put in it would be great to see him be able to compete again.

It doesn’t matter how WWE uses him, whether they continue with the slow build heel turn that was happening before he left or bring him to team with Chad Gable again, just get him back.

18 Gone: Shelton Benjamin

via wwe.com

When it was first announced that Shelton Benjamin was returning to WWE, fans were incredibly excited to see the Gold Standard come back, but things haven’t worked out the way many had hoped. It's a shame to see as Benjamin certainly still has the talent level and can mix it up at the highest standard but for whatever reason WWE creative simply doesn’t have anything for him right now, or seemingly ever.

Whilst having an experienced name such as Benjamin around the locker room can never be a bad thing, WWE has too much talent waiting for a chance in both NXT and NXT UK for Benjamin to be sat in catering each week.

17 Want Back: MVP

via twitter.com

Another popular ex-WWE Superstar fans would like to see back is MVP, one of SmackDown’s greatest talents outside of the main event. Still performing on the independent scene, MVP is in great ring shape and ready to compete whenever needed.

When he appeared at the Raw 25th anniversary, fans were excited about his return, but he was instead wasted in the card game segment with The Godfather and the Million Dollar Man, but it was clear the fans wanted more from MVP. While he might not return and be a main event name, MVP would make a really strong addition to the mid-card of WWE and potential feuds with talent like Elias or Mustafa Ali would be great to see.

16 Gone: Dana Brooke

via pinterest.com

WWE doesn’t know what to do with Dana Brooke and the WWE Universe doesn’t know what to make of her. Every time she appears she turns, being a heel one minute and then her next appearance being aligned with the babyfaces. Brooke was showing potential way back when she was in NXT alongside Emma and could have become a useful talent had WWE not made the decision to rush her to the main roster, clearly long before she was actually ready to make the jump.

Now she simply isn’t used and is only ever brought out when the numbers are needed, such as the Royal Rumble or at a women’s only PPV. Right now, Brooke simply isn’t needed and the post-WrestleMania spring cleaning should see the end of her time in the company.

15 Want Back: Goldberg

via wwe.com

One man that the WWE Universe surprisingly would love to see back is former Universal Champion and WWE Hall Of Famer, Goldberg, something nobody would have expected when he left the company in the first place. However, Goldberg's second spell with WWE was so successful that the WWE Universe would welcome back the former WCW icon for one more match as he proved his star power and quality during his feud with Brock Lesnar the second time around.

Goldberg was in fantastic shape during his last run and it's clear that if he wanted to, he could easily perform at the top level for a little longer and if WWE gets the opportunity to sign him again, they will certainly take it.

14 Gone: Nia Jax

via wwe.com

Nia Jax became an incredibly controversial figure in WWE over the past year. Being pushed incredibly strongly, even earning a run with the Women’s Championship, but then causing some serious issues with her in-ring work. Accidents happen in the ring, more often than fans are aware of, but when those accidents become as frequent of an issue as they have been for Nia, it starts to become a major problem and this was highlighted when she broke Becky Lynch’s face.

Fans quickly went out of their way to highlight a series of major issues that Jax has been having in the ring with injuries to various different talents being caused, which might cause alarm bells to start ringing for WWE management.

13 Want Back: Melina

via pinterest.com

In recent years WWE has brought back many legendary former female WWE Superstars but one name who has been notably absent from Royal Rumble’s and other historic moments has been Melina, one of the greatest talents of her generation. A lot of it boils down to backstage issues with Melina not having the best reputation, but when you consider how talented she is inside the ring, it seems like a huge missed opportunity to not have her competing against today's talent.

Naomi has made a case for Melina to return many times, stating that it's her dream match and hopefully soon the company will bring her back for a short run against some of the current superstars.

12 Gone: Rhyno

via wwe.com

When Rhyno lost his recent Raw match against Heath Slater that saw Baron Corbin fire him many expected that was the end of his WWE career, with Rhyno stating to the live crowd that he was retiring. This would have been the best decision for him as it does feel like he has slightly gone past his sell by date now, with the former ECW legend having had his last moment in the spotlight when he captured the Tag Team Titles with Heath Slater.

Now, there is nothing left for him to achieve and there is no chance that WWE is going to give him another push, so why not accept that it is time and when WrestleMania season has finished, hang up the boots.

11 Want Back: Sting

via wwe.com

Following WrestleMania, WWE often likes to make major changes and one of those tends to be who is in charge of Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live, which could see someone make a return this time around. One name that would be perfect for that role would be The Icon, Sting. The WWE Hall Of Famer has been kept on the sidelines by WWE since his injury, only making random appearances for meet and greets with fans or at Axxess events for Q&As.

But just because he can't compete inside the ring, doesn't mean that WWE can't get the most out of finally having Sting as part of the company and this would be a smart way to provide fans with some more moments from the legendary wrestler.

10 Gone: Sin Cara

Andres Acosta El Paso Herald-Post

This character has had two different wrestlers portray it and neither man has managed to get the gimmick over, with fans just seeing Sin Cara as a cheap, knock-off Rey Mysterio, which isn’t helped by the fact Mysterio is now back in the company.

Incredibly injury prone and with very little upside, there seems to be nothing left for Sin Cara to do in WWE, with the company oddly deciding not to put him on 205 Live, despite the fact he might actually make a difference on the cruiserweight show. However, if WWE is insistent on having him be on the main roster, then that could spell the end for Sin Cara as the company now has Mysterio back, making him a surplus to requirements.

9 Want Back: Juice Robinson

via sportskeeda.com

During his short WWE tenure, Juice Robinson worked under the name of CJ Parker in NXT, but he failed to impress and ended up being released, only to become one of the hottest stars in wrestling for New Japan instead. Robinson has shown fantastic in-ring qualities, but it's his huge personality that WWE will be looking at and it's no surprise that the company has been reported to have a major interest in bringing him back.

While he will still likely have to go through the developmental system again and once again appear in NXT, he has now built himself up to a solid star level where the WWE Universe will ensure he gets a chance this time around.

8 Gone: Dolph Ziggler

via wwe.com

2018 was a fairly good year for Dolph Ziggler and he finally started to feel somewhat fresh again after several years of being rather stale and a lot of that was because of his partnership with Drew McIntyre. However, as soon as the pair came to an end, Ziggler quickly disappeared from TV again and has once again returned to the stale situation where fans accept he is a great wrestler, but have simply become bored of watching him do the same things.

With so much incredible young talent now waiting in the wings in NXT, it might be time for WWE to really freshen things up, letting some of the old guard move on, allowing another talent to rise and change things.

7 Want Back: Wade Barrett

via metro.co.uk

While many fans will be focusing on Raw and SmackDown to get new talent following WrestleMania 35, that doesn't have to be the only brand that WWE is going to shake up, which is where Wade Barrett could come in. Barrett left WWE in order to take a break from wrestling and this took many fans by surprise as he still had plenty to offer and was incredibly popular, which is why it wouldn't be a surprise to see him return down the line.

The perfect place to bring Barrett back? Well, with the momentum building around the brand why not place Barrett on NXT UK, allowing him to be a grizzled veteran on the show could bring some major star power to WWE's newest brand.

6 Gone: Shinsuke Nakamura

via wwe.com

Things just have not worked for Shinsuke Nakamura on the main roster, even though he has been booked fairly strong since he was brought up, including a Royal Rumble victory and a run with the United States Championship. The issue is that WWE hasn’t booked him in the same manner that he was in NXT, with his strong style being toned down and the focus just being on him repeating the words “knee to face,” which has been a total waste.

It feels like Nakamura has very much reached the glass ceiling for his WWE career and with New Japan Pro Wrestling being as hot as it is right now, a return to where he made his name after one more WrestleMania match doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

5 Want Back: Batista

via wwe.com

It was clear from the reaction that he received during the SmackDown 1000 episode that the WWE Universe still loves The Animal and that the fans want to see him make one last return before he decides to call time on his wrestling career. WWE teased a match between him and Triple H, but with The Game’s injury possibly ruling him out for WrestleMania and Batista’s movie schedule not lining up, it doesn’t appear likely that will happen, so why not bring him back after the big show?

A run heading into SummerSlam would be a huge deal, and having him around for when Avengers is released would only drum up huge publicity for the company, something that WWE is always looking to make the most of.
