Fans are currently busy with WrestleMania season but there is no doubt that a new chapter begins on Monday. The unofficial road to SummerSlam starts with the Raw after WrestleMania, as Superstars begin working towards new goals. There are many who barely had a role in or even missed out completely on WrestleMania, which is why they will work harder to make sure that they feature at SummerSlam.

But unfortunately, it is not always in their hands to decided whether they have a role to play at such an event. It all comes down to Vince McMahon and the WWE creative team, as well as whom they choose to push. Various talents get pushed throughout the year, some of whom are able to remain on the same level and advance in the company. But there are many others who will be on the wrong side of history as they end up being buried.

Fans may exaggerate with the "bury" claims from time to time, but when new talents are pushed to the forefront, it will have to come at the expense of others. And these days, the WWE creative team seems unable to focus on more than just a couple of Superstars, meaning that several names get left behind.

The following entries made it based on rumours around the web, ongoing momentum swings in the WWE as well as the behavioural history of the creative team. Here are 8 WWE talents that will see huge push by SummerSlam and 8 that will be totally buried:

16 Huge Push: Rusev

via bleacherreport.com

In the past few months, Rusev has become one of the most over Superstars with the fans thanks to the trending "Rusev Day". Despite being among the top merchandise sellers and receiving huge pops, some fans have felt that the WWE is wasting Rusev's momentum. And after not having done much inside the ring, Rusev is being booked for the US title match at WrestleMania. He was reportedly added to the match due to his recent popularity, which indicates the company has major plans for Rusev in the future.

It is possible that Rusev will have a WrestleMania moment this year, which would lead to his new push. And if he manages to remain popular with the fans, then the future will certainly be bright for him now that he has made believers out of management. By SummerSlam, Rusev may be even further up the card on SmackDown.

15 Totally Buried: Karl Anderson And Luke Gallows

via wwe.com

Karl Anderson And Luke Gallows have had decent success in the WWE thus far, winning the Raw Tag Team titles in 2017. Since then, their booking has left them lost in the shuffle as they failed to truly make an impact. Upon signing with the WWE, fans were excited to see them although some always felt skeptical about how the company would book them. They haven't reached expectations so far, failing to establish themselves as the top team in the WWE.

And despite their recent reunion with Finn Balor, it seems like they have once again been wasted as background players rather than having their own angle. If the trend continues towards SummerSlam, The Club will become even less relevant that one may begin to question their future with the company. But it will all depend on how these next few months play out as far as booking.

14 Huge Push: Sami Zayn

via cagesideseats.com

For years, fans wanted to see Sami Zayn join the WWE and their wish came true when he debuted in NXT. Following a great run, his transition to the main roster didn't go as smoothly as anticipated as Zayn struggled to find a spot on the roster until his heel turn. It has turned around his career, making him one of the top heels on SmackDown along with his buddy Kevin Owens. Zayn has also been showing that he is more just a great in-ring talent, displaying an entertaining side that fans hadn't seen before.

He is also getting his biggest opportunity thus far at WrestleMania, being placed in a major storyline along with two major names in Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon. With Owens and Zayn being predicted to come out on top, it is expected that they will go on to receive a huge push afterwards.

13 Totally Buried: The New Day

via wwe.com

The New Day are the most popular tag team in the WWE as of the past couple years. They took a gimmick that was expected to flop and turned it into one of the most over acts in the company - selling plenty of merchandise along the way. But they have been losing their momentum for a while, and they are mostly being used for comedy segments as well as putting over other tag teams.

It is possible that the team is headed for a split soon since they have milked The New Day concept to its maximum potential. As a tag team, the future isn't too bright for them as they are likely to go down in the card by the time SummerSlam arrives. But there is certainly potential for all three Superstars to embark on successful solo journeys now that they have greatly improved since their last runs.

12 Huge Push: Daniel Bryan

via si.com

The news of Daniel Bryan being cleared to return to the ring generated a lot of excitement since fans had lost hope in seeing him return to the WWE. And it made even bigger headlines since Bryan will be competing at WrestleMania 34 for his return match. With Bryan cleared to return to the WWE on a full-time schedule, there is no doubt that he will return to being one of the top Superstars due to his popularity.

Bryan remained a major figure in WWE programming even when he was forced to retire from the ring. And Triple H indicated that the company had worried about Bryan leaving once his contract expired, which is why they were on board to clear him since they didn't want to lose one of the biggest names on the roster today.

11 Totally Buried: Bray Wyatt

via culturedvultures.com

Last year, Bray Wyatt got off to a great start after capturing the WWE Title. Since then, his career has been going downhill at a quick rate as Wyatt was mostly used to fill in time and put over fellow Superstars. His character has lost every major feud he has been in, which affected his credibility among fans. More recently, Wyatt was once again intriguing fans although it was mostly Matt Hardy's work that carried the feud.

The Ultimate Deletion may turn out to be a wonderful new beginning for Wyatt in the WWE, but chances are that the company will waste yet another opportunity with him. And when SummerSlam comes up, it is unlikely that Wyatt will be among the top names in the company, as he is much more likely to be stuck in the middle of nowhere as he had been for a while.

10 Huge Push: Kevin Owens

via bodyslam.net

Kevin Owens ruled Monday Night Raw for a while after winning the WWE Universal Championship. But once Goldberg put an end to his reign, he went on to feud with his former best friend in Chris Jericho. And his move to SmackDown came afterwards, which didn't get off to a great start. For a while, Owens was losing momentum with the fans but he has gotten back on track since teaming up with Sami Zayn.

The past few weeks have showed them at their best and they are now expected to win at WrestleMania. Just a few months ago, Owens assaulted Vince McMahon on SmackDown - and if the boss agrees to take such bumps then he must be high on you. 2018 may not be quite as good as 2016 for Owens, but it will certainly be a major improvement on his last year.

9 Totally Buried: Dolph Ziggler

via wwe.com

For several years, fans had hopes that Dolph Ziggler would establish himself as a top WWE Superstar. And while he has certainly had some memorable moments in the WWE, he still hasn't found a consistent place on the roster. Ziggler's career has been derailed by his struggle to find a unique identity, but WWE booking has hurt his credibility the most by featuring him in some awful angles.

From a romantic angle with Lana to dropping the U.S title for no reason, Ziggler has had some really confusing storylines in the past couple years. And based on what we have seen in the past weeks, we believe that a change won't be coming anytime soon. We all saw what happened at the Royal Rumble, and that will probably be the case for him from now until SummerSlam unless he manages to somehow get over with the fans again.

8 Huge Push: Elias

via wwe.com

Not many Superstars have received nearly as much air time as Elias has in recent months. He has held a concert on weekly basis on Monday Night Raw, making him one of the fastest rising Superstars in the company. And while he doesn't have a match scheduled for WrestleMania, Elias is expected to be booked in a major segment. Reports claim that many WWE legends may even be used as part of the segment, which could certainly provide a major boost for Elias.

And with his popularity increasing week by week, it is likely that Elias will earn a match on SummerSlam. He has been building up enough to get his character over with the fans, but now he is going to need a push inside the squared circle as well. And if matters stay on track then the future should hold plenty of great moments for Elias.

7 Totally Buried: Jinder Mahal

via wwe.com

Last year, WWE pulled an odd move when they turned Jinder Mahal from a jobber to WWE Champion in a relatively short period of time. He wasn't a transitional champion either as his reign exceeded that of plenty of WWE legends from the past, defeating several top names along the way. But since losing the title, WWE has tried to keep him a legitimate force but fans simply aren't buying into it. Mahal has failed to truly get over with the WWE Universe despite the company's best attempts to make him the top heel.

Not many are predicting Jinder to come out on top at WrestleMania, but you would think that fans had learned from their mistake last year. As of now, we predict that Mahal will be buried by SummerSlam since he failed during his reign on top as evident by the ratings and attendance.

6 Huge Push: Sasha Banks

via wwe.com

Sasha Banks has been the face of the women's division of the past few years along with Charlotte Flair. She has already won the title 4 times, and while her reigns may not have been long, it is still an impressive achievement. Some fans believe that Banks should also have been in a titles match at WrestleMania, but it's evident that the company has major plans for her in the future even if she isn't competing in a singles bout.

Additionally, Banks has the support of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, so there is no doubt that she will continue to be a major player in the division for many years to come. And by the time SummerSlam comes, we wouldn't be surprised to see Banks back in the title picture once again - although many fans are hoping to finally see her feud with Bayley on the main roster.

5 Totally Buried: Bayley

via wwe.com

Bayley had major success in NXT, earning the admiration of fans and management alike. Upon her switch to the main roster, Bayley was quickly pushed to the top after winning the WWE Raw Women's Championship. But booking hasn't been so kind to her since defining moment, as Bayley has lost plenty of matches. Her character is no longer as over with the fans as it used to be since she hasn't really done much to gain their interest.

A feud against Sasha Banks would certainly do wonders for her career, but the company has been delaying it for a year - and after planning to turn Bayley heel, rumours suggest that WWE officials have once again changed their mind. Bayley seems likely to stick around as a face, but if the same booking continues then she is likely to lose any credibility that she has left now by the time SummerSlam comes up.

4 Huge Push: Jeff Hardy

via wwe.com

Jeff Hardy has been out of action since September when he was sidelined with an injury. At the time, he was still teaming up with Matt but plans quickly changed as soon as Jeff got hurt. His brother Matt has now adopted his Woken persona in the WWE, which got many wondering whether Jeff will return as Brother Nero. He did make a cameo during The Ultimate Deletion, but it is entirely possible that was a one time appearance by him.

Prior to his injury, it was reported that the WWE had major plans in place for Jeff with a main event push in discussion. He has always been popular with the fans, as well as a top merchandise seller. With Hardy's full-time return happening in the next few weeks, you can expect him to be pushed once again as a singles competitor.

3 Totally Buried: Samoa Joe

via wwe.com

Fans have wanted to see Samoa Joe in the WWE for so many years, and they finally got their wish when he joined NXT where he had an incredible run. His move to the main roster was also a great one, as Joe instantly became a top Superstar. But injuries have derailed his career, slowing down his momentum every time he begins to find his mojo again. The company may not be willing to push Joe to the top once he is back, as he may have to earn his spot this time.

Injuries have earned him a reputation as unreliable among some fans, which has certainly been a concern for the WWE as well. It is possible that Joe will be pushed to challenge Roman Reigns for the title, but he will only be used as another stepping stone for the champion, which could further hurt his credibility as a dominant force.

2 Huge Push: Seth Rollins

via wwe.com

There was a time when Seth Rollins was crowned as the new face of the WWE. His reign on top didn't last too long due to injuries that put him out of action for an extensive period. Upon his return, Rollins was still booked like a top Superstar although he never reached the very same heights again. But his 2018 got off to a great start after stealing the show on many occasions, earning him the highest praise from fans and co-workers alike.

With Rollins getting his momentum back, he could be in for another huge push, which means you could expect him to continue being one of the top Superstars in the company. It is also very possible that Rollins will get even more over than before as he continues to improve. While he may not be in the world title picture at SummerSlam, you can expect him to be involved in a major angle.

1 Totally Buried: Matt Hardy

via wwe.com

Last year, there was a general belief that Vince McMahon and management weren't too high on the Broken Matt character, while also wanting to give Jeff Hardy a main event push. But when the latter went down with an injury, that forced the WWE to change their plans by having Matt slowly adapt his new character. And while The Ultimate Deletion was a success, it appears that it wasn't as big enough for Matt to have a role at WrestleMania, as he was added to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

By SummerSlam, it will take plenty for Matt to convince McMahon that the gimmick is a draw. The more likely scenario is that he gets lost in the shuffle as he once did. While fans would love to see Matt receive a legitimate push, it seems highly unlikely based on what we have seen from the WWE.
