It's been eight years since Edge retired from professional wrestling at the advice of doctors, due to serious neck injuries.

The Rated-R Superstar has stuck to his word of staying retired ever since. While many other legends decide to come out of retirement for another match or two (Shawn Michaels, for example), Edge hasn't given any indications that he's looking to get back into the ring.

But according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Ringside News), there have been private talks about bringing the Hall of Famer out of retirement. The report also outlined that Edge received a "significant offer" after talking to "both sides" about a contract.

The Observer noted that it's not "confirmed" if he'll indeed return to action, and that they're unsure about Edge getting cleared. So right now, it's merely speculation - but it's already big news in itself that Edge and WWE are seemingly interested in reviving his in-ring career.

Daniel Bryan is a shining example of how it's never too late to come out of retirement. A series of concussions forced him to hang up the boots in 2016. However, Bryan worked extensively to get cleared by doctors across the country - and he was able to get back into the ring two years later at WrestleMania 34.

Edge defeated Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII to retain his World Heavyweight Championship. A week later, he addressed the WWE Universe and said that doctors had told him he had to retire. He was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, and doctors said that Edge would be risking paralysis or death if something went awry.

But here we are eight and a half years after Edge's retirement, and it seems as though he could very well make an unlikely and historic return to the ring. Stay tuned.

Edge's Return Would Change Everything

A return to the ring would be incredible for The Rated-R Superstar. Edge turned heads at the SummerSlam pay-per-view in Toronto when he hit Elias with a spear. Could that be a sign that he's about to wreak havoc in the ring again? Edge's return would change the entire dynamic of the WWE, considering his ability to be a main eventer - be it a heel or a babyface.
