A popular wrestling rumors social media account is reporting word from a reliable source (yes, we know how that sounds) that WWE is making a major change to WrestleMania this year.

On the heels of the success of NXT joining the Survivor Series brand and after how well their inclusion was received by the WWE Universe, NXT is apparently going to play a major role in the biggest showcase of the year. All we can say is, it's about time.

WrestleVotes wrote on Twitter:

Heard from a well placed source, as of now, NXT will have a role at WrestleMania. Not talking about TakeOver, but on the actual Mania card. No details as to who or what, but an NXT presence will be felt at Raymond James Stadium.

Essentially, for the first time ever, NXT won't just be part of WrestleMania weekend on their own TakeOver show (although they'll have that too), but the brand will play a big role on the biggest card WWE offers all year long. There is even some buzz they may get consideration for a main-event or co-main event spot.

Because NXT is no longer considered a development brand for Raw and SmackDown, as a third WWE brand, the company feels the performers who make up the black and gold roster should get a shot at being on the WrestleMania card. With wrestlers in NXT often striving to make it to the main roster so they could be a part of WWE's biggest show, including them as part of NXT takes away any behind-the-scenes feeling they may want to leave NXT to get their shot.

NXT Will Steal The Show

There is already a mentality among the NXT roster that they want and need to steal the show every time out. Imagine what they'll be willing to do on the stage that is WrestleMania!

For some, this may not seem like big news, perhaps that it's obvious. Don't say that to the stars of NXT who have never been on a WrestleMania PPV. This is like Christmas coming early for many of them.
