Judging by some of the reactions from stranded Superstars, Crown Jewel could well be the last time WWE ever travels to Saudi Arabia.

Holding Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on a Thursday and SmackDown in the US the very next day was always a pretty ambitious move by WWE. All it was going to take for everything to come crashing down was one little delay or issue. Turns out one massive one, of which the details are still not clear, threw the entire plan into disarray.

With the clock counting down on SmackDown going live, many of the Superstars advertised for the show were still in Saudi Arabia. At best, they were in the air. There are some reports suggesting a handful of them arrived back in the US while SmackDown was underway. Thankfully, WWE called upon the NXT roster and the black and gold brand saved the day.

As for the Superstars left waiting on the tarmac in the Middle East, they are understandably not very happy. While it's unclear who made it back and who didn't, thinly-veiled tweets from a handful of Superstars have made it clear they were among the ones left waiting to come home. Rusev tweeted "we all need prayers," and Buddy Murphy simply said, "never again."

On top of that, there's talk that one of the reasons for the delays was due to Vince McMahon having a disagreement with someone on the ground. However, there are also reports that the chairman was one of the people who made it back and was actually backstage for Friday night's SmackDown. All in all, the situation is still pretty unclear, and we may never know the full truth behind what has happened.

As for WWE's Saudi Arabia shows going forward, this may spell the end of their twice-yearly trips. We're sure Murphy isn't the only wrestler wrapped up in this whole thing that will never want to return to the country, no matter what the bump in wages will be for doing so. The trip is a grueling enough one as it is, but add this amount of stress on top, it's probably not one worth making for most wrestlers.
