Edge retired from wrestling eight and a half years ago at the advice of doctors due to serious neck injuries, but a recent report suggests that he could be back in the ring soon.

It was previously reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there were talks about bringing Edge back into the ring. The report mentioned that the WWE Hall of Famer had talks with "both sides."

However, the Rated-R Superstar shut down those rumors when he took to Twitter to post the following message:

Well, the rumors haven't stopped despite what Edge had to say. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), explained that the former World Champion does indeed want to get cleared to compete again. However, it's not known right now if the Rated-R Superstar has been cleared to wrestle again.

Not only that, but Meltzer added that WWE "believes he negotiated with AEW," although this cannot be confirmed. And so, it remains anybody's guess what Edge truly wants to do, and if the rival AEW promotion really was trying to bring in another legend from WWE.

Edge retired from the WWE in 2011, following the advice of doctors. He was dealing with a serious neck injury, and they feared that if something went awry, he would be at risk of paralysis or even death. But even if he wants to come back to wrestling, will Edge be able to get cleared? Hopefully we'll get the answers soon.

Never Say Never

Daniel Bryan had to retire in 2016 due to a series of concussions, but he was able to get cleared and managed to return two years later. If Edge does return, WWE would have to carefully plan a match in which he wouldn't be putting himself at serious risk. So if he does indeed get cleared, then you can't rule out the possibility of him performing another match.
