Few eras in wrestling history have had the impact of the Attitude Era. Fans who followed the WWE in those days continue to talk about it, comparing the current product to it almost obsessively. Given the larger-than-life personalities, it's actually kind of odd that no one has made a movie about this time.

But even if that never happens, it's still fun to fan cast who could play the wrestlers. And The Rock shouldn't just play The Rock. If that was okay, he'd be play one of the younger versions of himself in his new TV series Young Rock. Same with any other wrestler who has become an actor in their own right.

10 Joe Manganiello As Kane

Like many actors in Hollywood these days, Joe Manganiello got his first big break in comic book films. In his case, he played the role of Peter Parker's high school bully Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Then, he became a household name thanks to his major roles in True Blood and the Magic Mike films.

Playing Kane would be a much different experience for him, particularly since The Big Red Machine consistently wore a mask during that era. But he's also a big guy who could pull off playing the physically dominant wrestler.

9 Joel Kinnaman As Triple H

One of the biggest stars to come out of the Attitude Era was Triple H. The multi-time champion got off to a slow start in the WWE, then picked up steam as part of Degeneration X. Now, he's one of the brains of the operation, working backstage on massive projects like NXT.

8 Gal Godot As Chyna

The late Chyna was a one-of-a-kind female performer who competed for men's championships as well as dominating the Women's Division. But finding someone to play her would be no easy task to say the least.

It would be nearly impossible to find an actress who could look the part of Chyna and fulfill the physical aspects of the role. Given Gal Gadot's success at playing Wonder Woman, she could be the right choice for the part. Gadot is a great actress and has the experience to play such a physical character.

7 Brie Larson As Stephanie McMahon

Without question, Academy Award winner Brie Larson is the right actress for this part. She has the range to play Stephanie in the Attitude Era, and could easily pull the look off. Plus, Larson has the background to get in the ring and learn how to mix it up. It would be interesting to watch her interpretation of the Billion Dollar Princess.

6 Alexander Skarsgård As The Undertaker

Another True Blood alumnus, Alexander Skarsgård gained a lot of attention for playing Eric Northman. He would go on to join the cast of Big Little Lies as Perry Wright, which earned him several awards.

The Undertaker is possibly the most dominant figure in wrestling history. Alexander Skarsgård has the versatility as an actor to portray Mark Calaway backstage as well as The Undertaker in the ring. There's a lot to work with when it comes to this important individual from this era, and Alexander Skarsgård would make good use of that.

5 Alicia Vikander As Lita

Another Academy Award winner, Alicia Vikander has had an impressively diverse career at this point. In addition to weighty dramatic roles, Vikander took on the iconic character of Lara Croft in the 2018 film Tomb Raider. Not surprisingly, it was a physical part for her to play, which might make her the right choice for Lita.

As one of the most popular wrestlers in the Attitude Era, Lita inspired generations of female competitors after her. Vikander could definitely be the right person to hit some big moves off the top rope.

4 Michael Keaton As Vince McMahon

Keeping in mind that he is the owner of the company, Vince McMahon has played a lot of different roles in front of the camera for WWE. For many fans, they first got to know him as an announcer. But during the Attitude Era, Mr. McMahon was the top heel in the company as well as an occasional wrestler.

Michael Keaton is the only choice to play Vince McMahon during that era. He is an outstanding actor who could lean into every aspect of the character. Plus, Vince might get a kick out of Batman playing him in a movie.

3 David Arquette As Mick Foley

For anyone who has been following pro wrestling since the days of the Monday Night Wars, David Arquette's name is a loaded one. Having him hold the WCW World Heavyweight Champion is widely regarded as one of the worst stories of all time.

More recently, Arquette has gone on to become a legitimate pro wrestler, and a seemingly fearless one at that. It would take someone willing to be subjected to some massive bumps to try to play the legendary Mick Foley, particularly during the Attitude Era. And since no one can kill David Arquette, he's the right man for the job.

2 Jason Momoa As The Rock

At this point in his career, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is one of the biggest stars in the world. But it all got rolling for him in the WWE during the Attitude Era. It would be easy to suggest that The Rock could play himself but that might actually detract from the film.

Jason Momoa could play the part incredibly well. He is a prominent action star who would not be afraid of the physical aspects of the gig. Momoa would excel at playing the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment. Frankly, Momoa could have been an excellent pro wrestler.

1 Woody Harrelson As "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Woody Harrelson as Steve Austin

Without "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the Monday Night Wars would have turned out a lot differently. He was the lynchpin of the entire era and many of the storylines flowing through it.

From a physical standpoint, Jason Statham seems like the right choice to play the part. But Woody Harrelson has the acting chops for it. He would deliver some of Austin's most iconic promos with the level of intensity to pull them off. Harrelson also might be the perfect Austin to Michael Keaton's Vince McMahon.
