10 Most Disrespected Wrestlers In The WWE Draft

The WWE Draft is complete with fans left scratching their heads in confusion at some of the decisions made by WWE. Raw and SmackDown drafted their own rosters with business executives from the USA and FOX involved in the process. Talents like Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair are the faces of Raw moving forward. SmackDown has the core of Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Bray Wyatt at the top of their brand.

There were some talents that noticeably got disrespected in different ways during the draft. A few have publicly voiced their displeasure while others are still trying to figure out what’s next for their guys. We will look at just how WWE managed to make quite a few of their talents look bad in the public eye. Find out just what could have been avoided. These are the ten wrestlers that were most disrespected in the 2019 WWE Draft.

10 Kevin Owens

WWE placed Kevin Owens on the Raw brand in the third round of the first night of the draft. Owens mentioned on social media that he wasn’t pleased about getting selected that late. WWE apparently refused to show the backstage interview he filmed voicing his displeasure as a later pick.

Owens has the right to be upset with names like Lacey Evans, Ricochet, and Drew McIntyre all getting picked before him with a fraction of the accomplishments. The wins of the former Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and United States Championship make the late pick quite disrespectful.

9 Luke Harper

Luke Harper's return to WWE saw him fit perfectly with his longtime tag team partner Erick Rowan against Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. Harper was off television for over a year dealing with an injury and even requested his release.

Fans hoped the return would lead to more success in the company, but the draft was not a positive indicator for his future. Rowan was selected by the Raw brand by himself even though teams could be used as one pick. This shows WWE has plans for Rowan in singles action while Harper went undrafted on both nights.

8 Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy has earned the right to have the legend status in WWE after over two decades of success in the industry. WWE hyped up the return of Matt and Jeff Hardy at WrestleMania 33. Injuries to Jeff have given Matt the chance to work on his own in singles action.

WWE has rarely used Matt on television in recent months since Jeff went out, with the former mostly performing on live events. Matt didn’t get picked in the draft despite being such a major name in the industry. This will likely fuel Matt, but we don’t even know if he’ll ever get a fair chance to show it.

7 Authors of Pain

The recent backstage segments of the Authors of Pain discussing their future in WWE has given them momentum. Rezar and Akam are among the most intimidating duos in WWE today. The new portrayal could have seen them score huge momentum with a relevant draft pick slot.

WWE didn’t even utilize them on Raw or SmackDown as they went undrafted and will move on as free agents. The Authors of Pain will likely end up on one of the brands, but the lack of drafting is just making them look bad until that happens.

6 Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin winning the King of the Ring tournament to become King Corbin showed how much faith WWE has in him. Major moments like retiring Kurt Angle, feuding with Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, and being involved in The Rock’s return all suggest WWE trusts him.

However, the draft slot of Corbin made him look foolish compared to his peers. Corbin was selected in the fifth round by SmackDown on the second night of the draft. Cedric Alexander, Buddy Murphy, and Jinder Mahal were some of the surprising names taken before Corbin.

5 Rey Mysterio

WWE has used Rey Mysterio in a unique manner in recent months. The legend has seen his son Dominic involved in storylines until Brock Lesnar destroyed them both. This led to Cain Velasquez debuting in WWE to attack Lesnar while defending Mysterio.

Rey did not get the chance to defend his own family and the draft added to the disrespect. Raw picked Mysterio in the 6th and final round. Names like Shelton Benjamin, Carmella, and R-Truth were all taken before an all-time icon.

4 The Usos

One noteworthy absence from the WWE Draft was the tag team of Jimmy and Jey Uso. The success of the Usos has seen them dominating the WWE tag team division for about a decade now. Despite being the cornerstones of tag team wrestling for WWE, The Usos didn’t get picked at all in the draft.

Jimmy and Jey have been off television for the past few months and it is unclear where they will wrestle after making their comeback. Both Raw or SmackDown would benefit from having the future Hall of Famers on their roster. The Usos not getting picked at all was a bad look for WWE and their tag divisions.

3 Cesaro

Cesaro has been consistently regarded for being among the most underrated wrestlers in the company. Cesaro always delivers the goods in the ring, with his biggest success stories coming in the tag team division with partners Sheamus and Tyson Kidd at different times.

WWE did not even have Cesaro drafted by either Raw or SmackDown. Cesaro is moving forward as a free agent. Many fans hope to see him end up as a top star in NXT, but it is most likely that he will end up back on Raw or SmackDown in a lower card role.

2 Bayley

Bayley's heel persona evolved to another level when she defeated Charlotte Flair to win back the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bayley not only changed her look and introduced new entrance music, but she also ran down the fans for the first time in her career.

WWE took away some of Bayley’s momentum by having her slip to the 9th overall pick in the second round of the draft. This was disrespectful, especially since the other world champions went top two on their draft nights. Bayley slipped behind names like Rusev, Andrade, and the title-less Charlotte.

1 The Miz

The tradition of The Miz switching brands in every draft continued in the 2019 Draft. Miz, however, was selected way later than anyone would have predicted for someone of his caliber. Cruiserweight wrestlers like Humberto Carrillo and Akira Tozawa were selected before Miz.

Recently, the Miz has regressed from being a threat to Daniel Bryan’s WWE Championship to Shane McMahon’s tag team partner and finally, a forgotten player. Something must change for Miz to rise back up and end the disrespect.
