The wrestling world currently sees a few people with the most power in the industry. WWE remains the only contender for the top promotion in the business despite other alternatives finding success. No one will ever be able to contend with WWE unless something drastically changes. This means every wrestler looking to make the most money and have the biggest spot in the industry must find a way to impress the people making the decisions in WWE. Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are the main three people in charge of the company in both the business and on-screen sides. Stephanie does not contribute much to the creative side leaving Vince and Triple H as the main people picking who gets pushed.

Both Vince and Triple H have advocated for talents to get major pushes on Raw or Smackdown. There have been quite a few wrestlers they disagreed on, but it doesn’t stop them from sharing their perspectives. At the end of the day, Vince is the one with the most power to make the final decision. Triple H still helps his favorites get put in a spotlight to succeed, but they aren’t as frequent as the Vince favorites. We will look at the wrestlers to feel love from each of the two most powerful men in the wrestling business. Triple H and Vince clearly have different taste in talent. Find out which of your favorite wrestlers have support from a very important person. These are ten WWE wrestlers that are stars because of Vince McMahon and ten that are stars because of Triple H.

20 Vince: Roman Reigns

The most blatant instance of Vince McMahon wanting a wrestler to become a huge superstar in recent memory is Roman Reigns. Both Vince and Triple H had high hopes for Reigns, but Vince viewed him on another level from every other prospect in the company when called up to the main roster.

WWE specifically protected The Shield to make them mega-stars mostly due to wanting to eventually make Reigns the face of the company. Fans have been giving polarizing reaction to Roman over the past five years knowing Vince is pushing him to the moon. Reigns has become the face of the company following four consecutive WrestleMania main events.

19 Triple H: Seth Rollins

Triple H taking a major role in developmental allowed him to see just how talented some of the younger stars on the payroll were. Seth Rollins was the first one Triple H wanted to specifically showcase when starting the new NXT brand. It was no coincidence that Rollins would become the first-ever NXT Champion.

The Shield took his career to the next level on the main roster, but Rollins truly took off as a singles star when being the one to turn heel and end the faction. Triple H and Rollins worked together closely on-screen and backstage leading to his WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 31. Rollins immediately went to embrace Triple H when coming backstage. The two even worked a major match at WrestleMania 33.

18 Vince: Charlotte Flair

The women’s division is certainly on the up with WWE putting a lot of investment into the ladies. Evolution as the first all-women’s PPV will be a historic moment. Vince McMahon is a lot more difficult of a person to impress than Triple H, especially for the women’s division.

One of the few women to receive a huge push throughout the entirety of the women’s evolution is Charlotte Flair. Triple H was already sold following her work in NXT, and Vince wanted to give her a huge push due to her background as the daughter of Ric Flair. It has led to Charlotte receiving huge honors and among the greatest pushes in WWE history.

17 Triple H: Becky Lynch

The current momentum of Becky Lynch has seen fans rally around her as the hero of the Smackdown women’s division. Vince McMahon is not a big supporter of Becky as seen with how little she’s been showcased over the past few years. The decision to have Charlotte Flair win the Smackdown Women’s Championship over Lynch at Summerslam was a Vince decision and has backfired on him.

Fans were so upset that they cheered the heel turn of Becky with huge ovations every week since then. Triple H likely saw this coming as a huge supporter of Lynch himself. Becky was one of the most respected women in NXT and received many opportunities thanks to Triple H seeing her talent.

16 Vince: Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal is currently back in the mid-card picture losing steam, but he will likely remain part of the picture for quite some time thanks to his recent push. A long title reign as WWE Champion saw Mahal surprisingly reach a top spot in WWE back in 2017.

Vince McMahon loved the physique and passion shown by Jinder during his return to the company following his release many years prior. The push was clearly a call by McMahon to shake things up on the Smackdown brand. Triple H didn’t even want Mahal in NXT and he was sent straight to the main roster, but it worked out for him.

15 Triple H: Asuka

The main roster run of Asuka has been met with many hits and misses. Asuka did make history as the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble winner and she had an attraction match with Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill for Asuka since her undefeated streak ended at Mania.

Most pundits believe Vince McMahon is down on Asuka leading to the end of her relevance on WWE television. Triple H is her biggest supporter in the company following an incredible run in NXT. The idea of an undefeated streak came from Triple H and helped make Asuka a huge star. Triple H even requested Asuka stay in NXT longer than needed due to needing her drawing appeal for tours.

14 Vince: AJ Styles

AJ Styles becoming a top star for WWE is another huge shocker that most pundits would have bet against. Despite being one of the best wrestlers in the world over the past fifteen years, Styles never got much attention from WWE during his time on Impact Wrestling.

WWE finally reached out to sign AJ following his great main event run in New Japan. As the top free agent in the industry, Styles used his leverage to secure a main roster contract instead of going to NXT. Vince McMahon was impressed with the work ethic of AJ within months to give him huge programs with Roman Reigns and John Cena. The rest is history as Styles has been the face of Smackdown for two years now.

13 Triple H: Kevin Owens

Triple H puts a lot of faith into the talents that find a way to stand out in NXT. Kevin Owens was among the more unlikely signings for WWE when Triple H specifically made the okay to hire the unconventional star following his strong run in Ring of Honor. Triple H saw something special in Owens and pushed him to the moon right away.

Owens was NXT Champion within a few months of his debut on NXT television, and he received a call-up to the main roster shortly after that. Vince McMahon is reportedly up and down when it comes to his thoughts on Owens. There’s no doubt Triple H is the biggest supporter that helped him become a former Universal Champion.

12 Vince: Alexa Bliss

One of the women to get the respect of Vince McMahon right away is Alexa Bliss. Not many people expected Bliss to make an impact on the main roster due to the lack of success in NXT. Triple H never booked Alexa to have a match at any of the TakeOver specials, and she was never a legitimate title contender.

This led to a huge surprise when Bliss won the Smackdown Women’s Championship within months of her main roster debut. Vince fell in love with Alexa’s heel character work and has led to her receiving a massive push. Bliss has been constantly involved in both Raw and Smackdown title pictures over the past two years without a real break. She’s even getting the dream match with Trish Stratus at Evolution thanks to McMahon’s support.

11 Triple H: Finn Balor

Finn Balor is clearly one of the favorites of Triple H in recent years. The biggest time for NXT’s growth as a touring brand featured Balor as the NXT Champion. Triple H requested Balor remain in NXT much longer than needed due to his importance in people paying to see NXT in larger venues.

The main roster call-up of Finn saw Triple H play a huge role in him receiving a massive push. Balor was the first-ever Universal Champion with the plans of being the face of Raw while Roman Reigns was being punished for his suspension. The injury ruined those plans, but Triple H clearly is still high on Balor with the love expressed in many recent interviews.

10 Vince: Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman has received the push of a lifetime in WWE thanks to Vince McMahon’s love of him. Everyone knows that McMahon prefers larger wrestlers and has historically been a sucker for the monster characters. This led to Strowman getting to skip NXT while training at the Performance Center to get called up when capable of performing competently.

McMahon has pushed Strowman to the moon with absurd stunts designed to make him cool to the audience. Braun was even intentionally pushed as the alternative to Roman Reigns in a way that convinced Reigns’ haters to love Strowman. Many fans fear the heel turn will slow Strowman down, but Vince clearly loves him as a main player for the future

9 Triple H: Ronda Rousey

Celebrities from other outlets joining WWE don’t have the best track record of doing well. The inability to adjust to wrestling is one factor, but Vince McMahon’s booking is another thing to hurt them. Ronda Rousey luckily is getting the benefit of working more closely with Triple H than Vince since joining WWE.

A close friendship with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H led to Rousey becoming one of the biggest signings in WWE history. Rousey joined WWE and has been booked to perfection. Triple H’s input is a main reason why given the trust that Rousey has with him and Stephanie. The genius of Triple H helped Rousey become a success story in WWE within a few months.

8 Vince: The Usos

Vince McMahon is not a fan of tag team wrestling for most performers. Teams like American Alpha and Enzo & Cass split up relatively quickly into their main roster run despite having huge potential as duos. This is not true for every tag team as McMahon sometimes sees certain teams as attractions.

The Usos have proved that they are a team that a lot of love from WWE. McMahon reportedly wanted them to become the faces of the tag division when they debuted on the main roster many years. Jimmy and Jey have found success as a future Hall of Fame tag team thanks in part to McMahon’s trust.

7 Triple H: Sasha Banks

The women’s division truly sparked in WWE thanks to Triple H giving them respect and support in NXT. Many talented ladies joined the Performance Center and started to showcase their skills in great matches. Sasha Banks deserves the most credit when it comes to top-level matches in NXT.

Triple H was the biggest supporter of Banks during her ascension. The matches between Sasha and Bayley changed women’s wrestling for the better. Triple H was caught tearing up following their matches. Banks is one of the wrestlers that would be in a better place if Triple H took over. Vince McMahon not seeing the potential in Sasha has led to her taking a secondary role in the division.

6 Vince: Elias

Most wrestlers to make the jump from NXT to the main roster are viewed as Triple H favorites rather than Vince McMahon projects. However, there have been a few exceptions to the rules in recent years. Elias is someone that surprised fans when receiving a push on Raw over the past couple of years.

Triple H did not push Elias in NXT. In fact, most fans would forget he was a part of the roster as he lost most of his matches. Elias found a way to win over Vince with his heel persona. It has led to Elias getting consistent television time and interacting with major names. McMahon even trusted Elias enough to have a segment with The Rock at WrestleMania 35 before The Great One canceled.

5 Triple H: Samoa Joe

The signing of Samoa Joe was surprising when he showed up in NXT to confront Kevin Owens. Joe was a major star for Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor throughout the years without ever getting a legitimate shot in WWE. The company was even considered to be staying away from former Impact stars when Joe showed up to make it a bigger surprise.

Triple H was wary about Joe at first and even warned him that he may never get a chance on the main roster. Joe however won over Triple H during his time in NXT. It led to Joe winning the NXT Championship, main eventing multiple TakeOver specials and getting called up to the main roster. Joe is currently a Smackdown main eventer thanks to Triple H believing in him.

4 Vince: The Miz

The Miz has seen many twists and turns in his career. Many of his peers have been dealt the same hand, but Miz managed to survive the negative moments to return to relevance. It has been almost eight years since Miz won the WWE Championship for the first and only time.

Vince McMahon was the biggest supporter of Miz at a time when many felt it was the wrong move. Miz even got to main event and win the main event of WrestleMania 27. Unfortunately, the title reign was still viewed as a bust. Miz continued working in the lower mid-card picture for many years before returning to the main event scene. McMahon’s respect for Miz’s hard work is a major reason why.

3 Triple H: Sami Zayn

The success of Sami Zayn in NXT opened Triple H’s eyes to just how talented the performers on the independent circuit can be. WWE started swooping in to sign top independent stars for NXT due to Triple H realizing there were many experienced workers out there with star potential.

Zayn was arguably the most important wrestler in helping NXT grow from a forgotten developmental product to an alternative WWE brand. Classic matches with Cesaro and Jack Swagger along with great feuds against Neville and Kevin Owens proved Sami was a star. Triple H and Zayn each benefited from the business relationship down in NXT.

2 Vince: New Day

The New Day have become among the top faces of the WWE over the past few years. Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods had great chemistry together leading to them having huge success in the WWE tag team picture. The momentum evolved into legitimate star power thanks to WWE pushing them in a huge way.

Vince McMahon became a huge fan of New Day due to their entertainment factor. The trio had hilarious promos that added to the character aspect Vince wanted out of them. New Day have consistently been representing the company as much as any other wrestlers on the roster due to McMahon’s trust in them.

1 Triple H: The Revival

The tag team division in NXT have received more time to showcase their skills than on the main roster. One tag team that best summarizes the differences in the philosophies of Triple H and Vince McMahon would be The Revival.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder developed a reputation for being one of the best tag teams in the world following classic matches against American Alpha, DIY and Authors of Pain in NXT. The main roster run has gone horrendously wrong. Triple H gave them long matches to shine. Vince doesn’t want them on television doing much of note which is leading to their downfall.
