While there are certain moments when a wrestler will use their real name in WWE, for the most part, they use a kayfabe name in order to keep their real identity more private. However, the real names of wrestlers is certainly information that people can obtain, and oftentimes, the names will surprise fans.

Because audiences get so used to the names that are presented on a weekly basis on WWE television, anytime something else is heard it usually comes as a shock. But some of the real names are brilliant and arguably better than the actual names that they use in the ring.

10 Gionna Jene Daddio (Liv Morgan)

Liv Morgan WWE

This is the exact type of name that absolutely nobody expects Liv Morgan to have. Obviously, this is a very memorable name, mainly because of her second name, but it's clear to see why WWE opted to create the Liv Morgan persona instead.

However, her name is certainly a very surprising one, purely because it is so different from what she uses inside the ring. However, there's no denying that Liv Morgan is also a really solid name.

9 Austin Watson (Xavier Woods)

Xavier Woods WWE

Whether people know him from the world of wrestling or the world of gaming, people do not know him as Austin Watson. While fans know that Xavier Woods isn't his real name, a lot of people do think that Austin Creed is.

This is the name he uses on YouTube, and because of that people take it as real. Therefore when fans find out he's actually called Austin Watson, it tends to be a big surprise.

8 Nuufolau Joel Seanoa (Samoa Joe)

Samoa Joe is one of those wrestlers who obviously doesn't use his real name in wrestling, but because he's gone by that for so many years, fans just accept it. Therefore when his real name is revealed, it comes as a huge surprise to most.

It's clear to see he took the Joe idea from his middle name, which is great as it gives his gimmick a clear connection to the real person behind the character he's made.

7 Pamela Rose Martinez (Bayley)

Bayley

When people think about Bayley, they certainly don't presume that her real name is going to be Pamela Rose. A big reason for that is because Bayley is seen as quite an ordinary name, this is something that fans expect to be her real name, probably just spelled a bit differently.

Bayley actually did use her middle name during her time on the independent scene, where she worked as Davina Rose. However, that was dropped in WWE, which is why fans have no clue about her name.

6 Sarona Moana-Marie Reiher Snuka-Polamalu (Tamina)

Tamina

Yes, that is Tamina's full name, and the sheer length is something that will surprise most people. Going from the single name in WWE to her real name consisting of six different names, it is quite a shock.

It's certainly not common for someone to have such a long name. Of course, Tamina comes from a legendary wrestling family, but people still tend to not know too much about her.

5 Leah Van Dale (Carmella)

Carmella as Women's Champion

While fans know and love her as Carmella, the actual name of the former Miss Money in the Bank is Leah Van Dale. It's one of the cooler real names on the WWE roster, and it is actually quite surprising that WWE didn't choose to go with this.

Leah Van Dale has a real movie-star ring to it and would have worked well within WWE. It's easy to chant along with, and it sounds like the name that would suit the gimmick she's currently working.

4 Rami Sebei (Sami Zayn)

Sami Zayn IC Champion

Sami Zayn's real name is one that will certainly stun a lot of wrestling fans, mainly because it's so different from his character on-screen. Sami is a Syrian Muslim, and that is reflected in his real name, which is why he has Arabic written onto his ring gear.

However, because he's worked as El Generico first, a lot of people wrongly presumed that Sami was his real name when he started working as that.

3 Óscar Gutiérrez (Rey Mysterio)

Rey Mysterio

Because he's been around for so long at the very top of the wrestling mountain, fans have just gone on to accept and presume that Rey Mysterio is his real name. Therefore whenever fans hear that Rey's real name is Óscar Gutiérrez, it throws them off.

2 Andrew McLean Galloway IV (Drew McIntyre)

Drew McIntyre promo

That's right, Drew McIntyre actually has IV at the end of his name. This is something that is all about family heritage, which WWE has played into recently with his sword and kilt, but it is actually a big part of his real life.

While it's quite a lengthy name to work in wrestling, it would certainly have been a fun aspect to play on as a heel character.

1 Peter England (Pete Dunne)

Pete Dunne

Arguably the most surprising real name on WWE's roster right now is Pete Dunne's. The Englishman literally has his country as his second name, with his real name being Pete England. That would actually be quite a great ring name.

It's something that a lot of people aren't aware of, and it always gets a response from fans when they find out. As a hard-hitting heel, this name could actually have worked perfectly if WWE had left it alone.
