The story goes that Stephanie was incredibly unhappy after Russo met with Vince McMahon to discuss a deal. Russo claimed Stephanie treated him with disrespect in their one phone call about the hiring and his offer was scrapped. Some wrestling fans actually hail Stephanie as a hero for preventing Russo’s return.

9 Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan had the worst relationship with Vince Russo during their time together in WCW. Russo talked Hogan into the idea of a worked shoot angle where Hogan would refuse to lose the WCW Championship to Jeff Jarrett. Hogan didn’t realize Russo would cut a promo ripping him apart afterwards.

This led to Hogan suing WCW and Russo for a lot of money. Hogan once again hated working with Russo in TNA as their ideas were never on the same page. The rivalry went on for many years with minimal positive praise for each other.

8 Cody Rhodes

One of the most recent instances of a wrestler getting into hot water with Vince Russo was Cody Rhodes. The Starrcast aspect of big AEW weekends features AEW working with Conrad Thompson to help him run a major convention adding to the overall appeal of the week.

Russo was initially invited to Starrcast at All In before Cody stepped in to remove the invitation from Conrad. The controversial statements from Russo regarding racial and sexual orientation made Rhodes feel that Russo shouldn’t be apart an inclusive event. Russo responded by ripping Cody and AEW.

7 Jay Lethal

Many of the younger TNA wrestlers had personal issues with Vince Russo. His writing style made many talented wrestlers struggle to get a push and placed them in horrible gimmicks. Case in point, Jay Lethal could only get consistent television time when doing the Black Machismo impersonation of Randy Savage.

An interview after his release from TNA would see Lethal reveal that Russo never liked him. The assumption was that Russo played a role in his ultimate firing from the company he called home. Russo denied it and claimed Lethal was off base with his assumptions.

6 Triple H

Triple H was one of the wrestlers in WWE that didn’t like the idea of Vince Russo having that much control over the show's creative aspects. A radio interview with the Opie and Anthony radio show would see Triple H get asked about the controversial wedding angle with Stephanie McMahon.

The comments from Triple H called out Russo for booking the angle and walking out of the company for WCW even though he had no end game for the storyline. Triple H claimed that Russo often came up with ridiculous ideas that he made up as it went along.

5 Goldberg

The WCW run of Vince Russo featured the end of Goldberg’s momentum as a character. Goldberg returned from an injury to a huge ovation from the fans looking for any reason to care about WCW again. Russo, however, thought it would be a great swerve to turn Goldberg heel.

Interviews from Goldberg would see him hold nothing back about his feelings of Russo being a horrible writer. Goldberg went as far as to accuse Russo of being a spy from WWE sent to kill WCW, giving fan theories of such thinking more fuel for their fires.

4 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe witnessed most of his TNA run disappoint due to poor booking that never got the most out of his potential. For example, Vince Russo came up with an idea to have Joe abducted by ninjas before returning with a new look and mentality.

Joe buried Russo in an interview when asked about the angle on MLW Radio. His comments ranged from professionally calling out Russo for his ideas to personally insulting him for his shady nature backstage. Joe is content about never having to work with Russo again.

3 Bret Hart

The start of Vince Russo writing for WWE came during the run of Bret Hart as the face of the company. Hart didn’t like a lot of the ideas to come from Russo that pushed the envelope with edgier content. The WCW run made Bret dislike Russo even more with the poor writing for the end of his career.

Hart went out of his way to lump Russo with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff as the people that would fail TNA in the early 2010s. The comments of Bret featured him saying Russo was a glorified magazine writer that never had a good idea in his life.

2 Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff was the one that most had to work with Vince Russo during their time together in WCW and TNA. The terrible execution of the New Blood Era would see them both fall out of favor in WCW as the company reached the point of no return.

Bischoff tried to work with Russo again in TNA with their relationship growing worse. The 83 Weeks podcast of Bischoff features him taking shots at Russo and calling him an idiot every time he is asked about working with them.

1 Jim Cornette

For the past two decades and counting, Vince Russo's biggest enemy in the wrestling business has been none other than Jim Cornette. The two had completely different approaches to wrestling that led to them clashing when working together on the creative team in WWE.

The aftermath has seen them throwing shade at each other in interviews for years. Russo went as far as to get a restraining order after Cornette threatened him. There aren’t two personalities in the wrestling business that have as much hatred for each other as Russo and Cornette.
