Wrestling is perhaps one of the only businesses in the world where new couples are revealed on a regular basis and appear almost interchangeable in the years that follow. WWE as a company actually controls a lot of their couples, since many of the unions that they create on WWE TV later lead to actual relationships between the superstars off-screen.  This isn't always the case though, it seems that there are a number of stars who are married to none-wrestlers and are able to be professional with their apparent on-screen lover.

WWE puts together the stars that they think will work the best when it comes to chemistry and at some point that chemistry can't be denied which is why many of the following relationships have led to cheating scandals or even personal problems for the superstars involved because their actions became too believable or they stopped acting altogether. We've all heard that life often imitates art, but what happens when the art could leave someone having feelings for another wrestler who is not their significant other? This creates tension for many involved if it is the case. But more often than not the wrestlers just get on with their lives. Though some may still be tempted to taste the forbidden fruit.

The following list looks at 15 wrestlers who would leave their partner for the superstar that they were chosen to pair with on WWE TV. While most of what we see on screen is acting, some of these on-screen relationships could be much more than that.

15 15. Dolph Ziggler And AJ Lee

AJ Lee was a tornado that came through WWE and following her retirement, it seemed that the company would never be the same again. AJ had quite the reputation on-screen after being linked with Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Kane, so when she opened a storyline with Dolph Ziggler it seemed as though the couple really had a decent amount of chemistry.

Dolph Ziggler was in a relationship with comedian Amy Schumer back in 2012/13 when he was in an on-screen relationship with AJ Lee, but AJ was enough for CM Punk to leave Lita for so she would definitely be enough for Dolph to leave Amy for, especially since she went on to dump the former World Champion via text message not long after, anyway.

14 14. James Ellsworth And Carmella

James Ellsworth was brought into WWE back in 2016 as a jobber to make Braun Strowman look like a beast, he was later signed to a contract on SmackDown Live and because WWE had no idea what to do with him, they aligned him with Carmella and used him to help her win the first ever Women's Money in the Bank ladder match.

Carmella was in a relationship with Big Cass throughout and he sent a few warnings to Ellsworth on Social Media that were all tongue in cheek, but even though Ellsworth was married at the time if Carmella was single it would probably have been a different story. Sadly, James was released from the company before he was able to become anything more memorable than Carmella's lapdog.

13 13. Enzo Amore And Nia Jax

Over the past few months, the WWE Universe have been witnesses to the relationship between Nia Jax and Cruiserweight Championship Enzo Amore beginning to blossom. Nia Jax is in a relationship with fellow wrestler Josh Woods and has been for more than a year.

Enzo Amore was most recently in a relationship with current SmackDown superstar Liv Morgan, but that relationship came to a controversial end late last year and the duo have since moved on. Nia isn't like most women, so she would be perfect for Enzo since he has managed to be the sole reason why most of his relationships with other women haven't worked out. Plus, Nia is absolutely gorgeous, Enzo would definitely have his head turned by the former NXT superstar.

12 12. Batista And Melina

Melina started her WWE career as the valet of her real-life boyfriend John Morrison and his partner Joey Mercury as the team known as MNM. The biggest speedbump in their Tag Team Championship run and Melina's relationship with Morrison was Batista, the duo were part of an on-screen fling back in 2005 which later led to an actual affair that saw Batista and his wife divorce.

Even though Melina and John Morrison were able to get past this and continue to date for another decade, Batista was open to leaving his wife Angie to start a relationship with Melina. Instead, The Animal has gone on to remarry a competitive pole dancer called Sarah Jade, perhaps the only woman in the world who is more flexible than Melina.

11 11. Kane And Lita

Kane and Lita were perhaps one of the most memorable on-screen couples of all time and even though they were obviously mismatched, the storyline between them actually worked. Before Lita was seen as a villain following her affair with Edge, she was one of the most popular female wrestlers in the company and aligning her with Kane was a strange option.

Kane has been married to his wife Crystal since 1995, but if he was given the choice he would definitely have had his head turned by Lita. The former Women's Champion has that effect on men, as Edge, he left his second wife for the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2005. Well, Edge had an affair with Lita they ended up costing him his marriage which is basically the same thing.

10 10. Finn Balor And Bayley

Finn Balor is currently linked to Social Media correspondent Cathy Kelley, but over the past few years, he has been seen getting close to former NXT Women's Champion Bayley. The duo were able to have a lot of fun together during their time in NXT when they were both the main Champions, with many of the WWE Universe thinking that the couple were actually together in real life.

Bayley is engaged to fellow wrestler Aaron Solow right now, but if she had the option then she would definitely have been thinking twice about Finn given how much chemistry the duo had. Sadly the WWE Universe has had to make do with the couple being good friends instead since they are now both happy in their respective relationships.

9 9. Mickie James And John Cena

John Cena is a former World Champion in WWE and someone who was part of a huge cheating scandal back in 2008 when it was revealed that he had been cheating on his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Huberdeau with fellow WWE superstar Mickie James, who was also engaged at the time.

The duo were part of a storyline on WWE TV at the time and the lines between fact and fiction became blurred and Mickie was actually prepared to leave her fiance Kenny Dykstra for Cena. Incredibly, Cena didn't want anything to do with Mickie after their affair was made public since he then tried to distance himself from her and pulled some strings backstage to have her moved over to the SmackDown brand away from him.

8 8. Chris Jericho And Trish Stratus

Who can forget the infamous inter-gender match which saw Chis Jericho and Christian team up to take on Trish Stratus and Lita after it was revealed that the men had made a bet to see which one of them could sleep with their woman the fastest. The worst part was that the entire bet was worth just a dollar and the women took offence to this and it led to a fantastic feud.

Trish Stratus is one of the greatest female wrestlers of all time and Chris Jericho has had his head turned by fellow WWE Diva Kelly Kelly in the past, so if Trish wasn't in a relationship when the duo were actually together on-screen then he would definitely have been interested, even though he was married at the time.

7 7. Jeff Hardy And Trish Stratus

Jeff Hardy is one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE history and back in 2003 the former World Champion crossed paths with Trish Stratus and the duo were seen as a couple on WWE TV. Trish Stratus was in a relationship at the time with her boyfriend Ron, who she met while she was at school, while Hardy was dating Beth, whom he met back in 1999.

It is entirely feasible given the fact that Jeff Hardy was rumoured to have had a fling with Mickie James in his earlier career, that if Trish was available at that time then the couple could have become much more than just on-screen lovers. Instead things were different and now the WWE Universe can only think of what ifs.

6 6. Spike Dudley And Molly Holly

Spike Dudley was considered to be the smallest of the Dudley Boyz, but he was definitely the craziest and one person that managed to calm him down was Molly Holly when the couple came together back in 2001 and Molly later described this as the best time of her career and the duo seemed as though they had a lot of fun on-screen together.

Spike Dudley had a wife called Vikki, but the chemistry he had with Molly couldn't all have been acting. Molly was both beautiful and talented at that time before she went on to become Mighty Molly and Spike would have been lucky to land a woman with her kind of looks and ability, but the timing just wasn't right for them.

5 5. Santino Marella And Maria Kanellis

Santino Marella was once seen as The Milan Miracle when he was chosen from the audience to compete and then win the Intercontinental Championship in his debut match, but Marella's career fizzled out before it had begun and this led to him being partnered up with Maria back in 2007.

Santino was in a relationship with fitness competitor Anna Babij throughout his wrestling career and the couple married back in 2015, Maria was in a relationship with fellow WWE star CM Punk but if the option had been there for Marella to start a real-life relationship with the former Playboy cover girl then he would definitely have taken it. Maria is stunning and is now married herself with her first child on the way, who she recently revealed was a girl.

4 4. Vince McMahon And Candice Michelle

Vince McMahon is the Chairman of WWE and for a number of years he was able to use this power to ensure that he was part of storylines with some of the sexiest women that the company had ever hired. This included Torrie Wilson, Trish Stratus and Candice Michelle, with the latter seemingly being his favourite.

Vince McMahon and Candice were part of some uncomfortable segments for the WWE Universe to have to watch during that era, but Vince was married to Linda at the time and Candice was also married, but considering the fact that there were rumours that he had cheated on Linda a number of times with divas, it isn't much of a stretch to think that if it wasn't for the attention it would gain, Vince would have left Linda for Candice a long time ago.

3 3. Randy Orton And Stacy Keibler

Randy Orton was just 25-years-old when he was put into an on-screen relationship with Stacy Keibler, someone who was arguably more experienced than him in the wrestling business at that time. Randy had quite the reputation as well which saw him rub a number of people up the wrong way and cause a number of problems backstage.

Orton was in a relationship with longtime girlfriend Samantha Speno at the time, even though the couple didn't marry until two years later. Stacy was single at the time, and considering there were rumours that Orton's cheating was one of the reasons for his divorce from Samantha a few years later, it seems likely that if he had the option he would have left his girlfriend for Stacy and her incredible 42-inch legs.

2 2. Carlito And Torrie Wilson

Carlito was once one of the most popular superstars in WWE, so much so that he managed to win the United States Championship in his debut WWE match. In the fall of 2006, Carlito was put into an on-screen relationship with Playboy cover girl Torrie Wilson, after Carlito saved Torrie from Chris Masters.

The couple were seen on-screen together for a number of months after it was confirmed that they were a couple. At the time Torrie was married to Billy Kidman while Carlito has been in a long-term relationship with the same woman ever since his early WWE career. Carlito tries to keep his personal life out of the public eye so there isn't a lot known about his girlfriend, but what is known is that she would have easily have been history if Torrie had become an option for the Caribbean Cool star.

1 1. Tajiri And Torrie Wilson

Yoshihiro Tajiri was partnered up with one of the sexiest women on TV back in 2002 and the Japanese superstar was quite happy to be in the presence of the Playboy cover girl. At the time Torrie was in a relationship with fellow wrestler Billy Kidman and Tajiri was married to Tomoe but if a relationship was on the table, Tajiri would definitely have left his wife for Torrie, because let's be honest, who wouldn't.

Not only was Torrie one of the sexiest women on TV almost two decades ago, but now at 42-years-old, the former superstar could still give the current women's roster a run for their money. There isn't a married man in the world that wouldn't jump at the chance of a relationship with Torrie Wilson.
