One of the things that WWE has used many times over the past few decades is to take two singles stars who hate each other and make them a tag team. The idea is either to build to a bigger singles feud between the two, forcing them to team up and work together, or to create a new superstar tag team with former heated rivals.

Both of these forms of tag teams have worked well throughout history. While the first is a perfect way to lead into a world title match between two wrestlers who hate each other, the second can create a new tag team capable of winning gold and dominating that division for as long as the two wrestlers continue to co-exist.

10 Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

The most recent example of the two rivals who hate each other teaming up is Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. The two were the toughest women in WWE and seemed on a crash course to fight each other. However, WWE went in a different direction and had the women win the tag team titles instead, working together due to the shared hatred of Sasha Banks and Bayley.

They remained entertaining, insulting each other in promos while working together as a dominant force.

9 Braun Strowman & Seth Rollins

Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins

In 2019, Seth Rollins was the WWE Universal Champion, and he realized Braun Strowman was gunning for him. At the time, both men were fan favorites, but they were in no way friends. The two had been rivals since they were members of The Wyatt Family and The Shield.

Strowman had a title match coming against Rollins at Clash of Champions, and the two ended up teaming up to beat Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for the titles ahead of time. At Clash of Champions, they lost the titles to Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode, and then Rollins beat Strowman later that night in the Universal title match.

8 Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy

Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy

When Matt Hardy returned to WWE, he and Jeff Hardy won the tag team titles in their first night back in the company. However, they ended up losing the titles, and then Jeff ended up injured and out of action for a very long time.

Hardy brought back his Broken Matt gimmick and then started to feud with Bray Wyatt. The two men clicked and created a tag team known as The Deleters of Worlds. They would go on to win the tag titles before quietly splitting up three months later.

7 Cesaro & Sheamus

The Bar

The Bar was one of the most successful tag teams in WWE over the last decade. However, while Sheamus and Cesaro seemed like the perfect tag team over time, they started as the worst of enemies. In 2016, Sheamus was drafted to Raw and began feuding with Cesaro about who was the toughest wrestler.

General Manager Mick Foley booked them in a Best of Seven series. When they went to 3-3 and the deciding match was a draw, Foley made them tag team partners. Sheamus and Cesaro hated it at first, but they soon connected and won five tag team titles.

6 Daniel Bryan & Kane

Team Hell No

Probably the most entertaining rivals turned tag team partners are Daniel Bryan and Kane. Bryan was a heel at the time, and Kane was still the Big Red Machine, although he seemed more willing to talk things out than his enemy.

The two went to therapy sessions to try to become a better and closer tag team and ended up forming Team Hell No. They ended up as entertaining tag team champions, and they kept arguing about who was the real tag team champion.

5 Big Show & Chris Jericho

If there is one wrestler who has proven he can team with anyone, it is the Big Show. He created two different teams with his rivals between 208-2010. The first was Jeri-Show with Chris Jericho, and the second was ShoMiz with The Miz.

Of the two teams, the most successful was Jeri-Show. The two rivals ended up winning the tag team titles and feuding with DX. After the team broke up, Big Show moved on into his partnership with The Miz.

4 Steve Austin & Triple H

Two-Men Power Trip

In 2001, the two biggest names in WWE were Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H. For years, Austin was the biggest babyface in the entire business of professional wrestling. However, when he joined forces with Vince McMahon and hit The Rock with a steel chair repeatedly, he became a heel.

Instead of feuding with Triple H, the two joined forces and called themselves the Two-Man Power Trip, former enemies who were now partners. They held all the gold, winning the tag team titles while Austin was World Champion, and Triple H was IC Champion. Their partnership ended when Triple H tore his quad.

3 Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage

The Mega Powers

In the '80s, the most famous ever pairing of enemies turned tag team partners happened, and it was one of the biggest moments in wrestling history. Randy Savage was a hated villain who was starting to get cheered and Hulk Hogan was the biggest babyface in the world.

When Savage needed help, it was Hogan who saved him, and they formed the Mega Powers. They rose quickly to the top, but it all fell apart due to Savage's intense jealousy when he attacked Hogan, and the Mega Powers imploded.

2 Matt Hardy & MVP

One of the biggest feuds for the United States title on SmackDown in the first decade of the new century was between Matt Hardy and MVP. The two men tore it down as enemies, with MVP the cocky villain and Hardy the man who never gave up.

The two ended up teaming up and beating Deuce 'n Domino for the tag team titles, giving MVP two titles at the same time. When Hardy claimed he wanted the US title, the two ended up feuding, which cost them the tag titles to Miz and John Morrison.

1 The Rock & Mick Foley

Rock and Sock Connection

There might not be a moment more cringy in wrestling history than when The Rock hit Mick Foley numerous times in the head with a steel chair. The two had a blood feud, and they destroyed each other for years, including the infamous I Quit match where The Rock piped in Foley's voice over the arena speakers to get the win.

However, in 1999, the two men teamed up as The Rock 'n' Sock Connection and won the tag team titles three times.
