Factions are among the most beloved aspects of wrestling for longtime fans. WWE diehards have strong nostalgia for acts like D-Generation X, the Hart Foundation and Evolution. Other promotions also found huge success with factions in history. WCW had the Four Horsemen and New World Order to carry them at different times.

The same goes on today with many factions being born in promotions all over the wrestling landscape over the past few years. It is a great way to try to utilize talent. A leader of a group can improve from a great talent to a top-tier superstar. Other members of the group usually find more importance having a purpose outside of just random matches. On the other side, terrible factions can hurt careers.

We will look at all the factions to have a presence in wrestling since 2010. Promotions like WWE, New Japan, Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling each have tried to create factions to become big parts of their programs. Some of these groups completely shook up the entire company they were in by creating positive changes. New stars were made, great stories were told, and fans were entertained by the better factions.

Unfortunately, not all factions have what it takes to become a successful presence in wrestling. Many will go the opposite direction to hurt the talents involved while making the product worse in general. Find out where your favorite faction ranks in the pecking orders. These are the rankings of all wrestling factions since 2010 from worst to best.

26 League of Nations

via wwe.com

The most disappointing faction in recent memory would have to be the League of Nations. WWE decided to put together various foreign heel wrestlers for a faction with Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio.

One of the goals was to make Sheamus a legitimate top heel after he won the WWE Championship with the Money in the Bank briefcase. All members have admitted this turned into a flop with the League of Nations getting destroyed by Roman Reigns and others on a weekly basis.

25 Aces & Eights

Impact Wrestling has been home to many factions over the past eight years. The worst one may be the Aces & Eights due to how much it negatively impacted the program. Bully Ray and D-Von turned out to be the mystery leaders of the heel biker gang.

It was already an outdated concept, but horrible wrestlers like Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco being major players further destroyed any hope. Fans tuned out of Impact following Aces & Eights becoming the focal point of the show to help destroy the brand.

24 The Corre

via fanpop.com

Nexus was a group with a ton of potential, but it ended faster than anyone could have predicted. WWE tried to start a new faction with former members of Nexus like Wade Barrett, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel joining with Ezekiel Jackson to join The Corre.

All the formerly respected heels regressed into irrelevant acts the fans didn’t buy into. Their biggest match as a group saw them get destroyed by Big Show, Kane, Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella in under two minutes at WrestleMania XXVII to end them.

23 Sanity

via wwe.com

NXT found some success with the Sanity faction, but they are already looking like a flop in the current WWE landscape. A main roster call-up following WrestleMania 34 saw Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain joining Smackdown without Nikki Cross.

It only took a few months before Sanity fell from an interesting new faction to a forgettable act. The three-man faction took a few huge losses to New Day to show just how little WWE believes in them moving forward.

22 Team Dixie

Dixie Carter’s decisions behind the scenes ultimately is the reason Impact Wrestling never blossomed into a top tier mainstream promotion. One of her worst ideas came when she wanted to portray a heel character on-screen like Stephanie McMahon.

Unlike Stephanie, Dixie lacked charisma, yet still wanted to be the biggest character on the show. Wrestlers like Magnus, EC3, Rockstar Spud and many others worked under Carter’s leadership leading to horrible television unfolding. This faction even received the moment of defeating AJ Styles on his way out of Impact, but he seems to have won that battle looking back at how things ended.

21 S.C.U.M.

Ring of Honor offers a fun alternative product to WWE and has been doing so for many years now. One of the factions to feature a lot of memorable names saw Kevin Owens lead the heel group known as S.C.U.M.

Matt Hardy, Rhyno, Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs were a few of the many heels to join the faction trying to overtake ROH. The group had a short shelf life as it lost relevance once the popular Owens turned face to feud with Hardy in singles bouts.

20 The Menagerie

The Menagerie was a bizarre idea from Impact Wrestling. It ranks higher than others due to not being as much of an important fixture on the program, but the group deserves consideration when discussing their time together.

Mike Knox led the faction with Rob Terry, Crazzy Steve and Rebel all playing various versions of circus characters. The Menagerie did have some comedic elements, but it never connected as it ended within a few months. Crazzy Steve was the only one to have a successful run in Impact following the split.

19 Social Outcasts

Comedic groups will sometimes connect for great success, but most of them ultimately fail as factions. WWE proved them when trying to put together a few wrestlers viewed as an enhancement talents. Heath Slater, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel made up the Social Outcasts.

The faction provided laughs with some of their promos with the delusional belief that they were all major stars. Following a month of fun, the Social Outcasts ran their course and each man had to find a new route moving forward.

18 Immortal

via adamswrestling.blogspot.com

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff joining Impact Wrestling led to the company believing they were going to compete with WWE. Unfortunately, the minds of Hogan and Bischoff just wanted to use old ideas that worked in WCW.

A long angle of a mysterious stable would be revealed when Jeff Hardy turned heel to align with Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. Many other heels like Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Abyss and others joined the group known as Immortal. Everyone viewed them as a cheap imitation of the New World Order and it hurt the company.

17 The House of Truth

One Ring of Honor faction to have various incarnations with manager Truth Martini being the one common thread. Talented big names like Roderick Strong, Jay Lethal and Christopher Daniels each led the group at different points.

Quite a few other talented names found their start in ROH in the group like Michael Elgin, Donovan Dijak and Matt Taven. Many wrestlers benefited from working in the faction. However, it never took off to get to the next level as a true top tier group.

16 3 Man Band

3 Man Band was one of the more memorable comedic factions in recent WWE memory. Heath Slater has been a comedy wrestler for most of his WWE career following the end of Nexus. Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal joined him to form the 3 Man Band act of three delusional wrestlers believing they were great singers.

The group had a few fun moments like memorable promos and involvement in the shockingly great WeeLC match of honorary member Hornswoggle vs. El Torito. While the faction was viewed as a joke, they were an entertaining joke that played to their audience.

15 Beat Down Clan

The Beat Down Clan faction had the potential to be a top tier group for Impact Wrestling. Respected names like MVP, Samoa Joe, Bobby Lashley, Kenny King and Low Ki made up the group. They were known for their aggressive style leading to brutal attacks and intense promos.

Hernandez joining the Beat Down Clan turned out to be the biggest mistake Impact made. He hid the fact that he was still under contract to Lucha Underground. It led to Lucha Underground threatening to sue Impact. All taped Beat Down Clan segments were removed from taped episodes and the group fell apart shortly after.

14 The Miztourage

via StillRealToUs.com

The Miz has stepped up in recent years to become a credible top-level heel. It was a long fall for Miz following his failed WWE Championship reign back in 2011. WWE placed him in the mid-card for years after this with no real signs of moving up.

This changed when Miz’s wife Maryse returned to the company as his manager. Miz would achieve even more success when hiring Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel to service as The Miztourage. All four personalities were entertaining together and were better off for the short-term faction.

13 The Kingdom

Many of the wrestlers to make a name in Ring of Honor throughout the years have ended up getting signed by WWE. The faction formerly known as The Kingdom featured a group of talent currently in WWE.

Adam Cole was the ROH World Champion and the leader of The Kingdom. Matt Hardy, Maria Kanellis and Mike Bennett each were huge parts of the faction growing. Matt Taven was the other member and the only still in ROH. Taven is currently leading a new version of The Kingdom to less success.

12 Fortune

Impact Wrestling’s reliance on copying old WWE and WCW ideas was a huge problem to sink them through the years. One blatant attempt of doing this featured Ric Flair leading a group of young talent with the name of Fortune meant to be the new Four Horsemen.

There were a few versions of the group with names like AJ Styles, Frankie Kazarian, Bobby Roode, James Storm, Matt Morgan and a couple of other wrestlers working in the faction. Everyone tried their best and they did have some great matches, but it ultimately failed to live up to the potential of those involved.

11 Suzuki-Gun

One of the coolest things about New Japan in recent years to make it become so hot is the group of factions. Most top stars have alignments with other wrestlers in teams or a full-blown faction. Suzuki-Gun has been a successful faction for NJPW over the past few years led by legendary wrestler Minoru Suzuki.

Taka Michinoku, Zack Sabre Jr., Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer are some of the more relevant members today. WWE star Shelton Benjamin was in the group during his time in Japan. Every member of Suzuki-Gun demands credibility.

10 Nexus

Many would believe that being in the top ten of the factions of the recent wrestling history would be a success, but it was ultimately a failure for Nexus. The group of young stars from NXT drew comparisons to the New World Order after an all-time great segment debuting on Raw destroying everyone in the process.

Wade Barrett led the entire cast from the first season of NXT with the goal of taking over WWE. The hot start cooled off when Nexus took a huge loss against John Cena in the multi-man tag match at Summerslam 2010. Following a few more losses to Cena, Nexus ended in under a year instead of becoming a legendary group.

9 Decay

Decay was among the more effective factions for Impact in their history. The unique personalities of Abyss, Crazzy Steve and Rosemary united to form the bizarre group bonding together for a common goal.

The faction of Decay became the top opponents for Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy to help Impact gain relevance. Rosemary would evolve into a top women’s wrestling star after joining the group. Both Abyss and Crazzy Steve made a great team that became perfect with Rosemary at their side.

8 Chaos

Chaos has been a successful faction in New Japan for many years now. It has seen quite a few wrestlers coming in and out of the group. Kazuchika Okada is the top star of the group right now with many talented pals like Tomohiro Ishii, Will Ospreay, Jay White and others involved.

Former members since 2010 features a hit list with the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Davey Richards, Brian Kendrick, Low Ki and others. The group is not always together as they attempt to achieve success together, but they remain united when it comes to facing other factions.

7 The Authority

via WWE.com

The Authority was a polarizing faction to many fans. Many hated seeing Triple H and Stephanie dominating so much television time. However, the faction did have success with it making Randy Orton relevant again and helping Seth Rollins get to the next level as a top star.

The other members of the group even benefited from it. Kane and Big Show finally had noteworthy roles on the show again. Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble entertained the audience while playing the lackeys for Rollins. The Authority provided a lot of good things from their time on WWE television.
