WWE is apparently livid over one aspect of the Raw angle that saw Randy Orton faking an injury before sneak-attacking AJ Styles this past Monday.

Ironically, WWE is not upset with Orton, Styles, the way it came across on television nor the live event where Orton faked the injury leading up to Raw. In fact, all of those things, WWE is quite happy with because everything went off as they had intended.

No, WWE is furious that the real status of Orton's injury leaked prior to Raw, namely with one "insider" to be specific. Prior to RAW, Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported that the injury was in fact part of a storyline. According to Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue, this is something WWE is not at all happy with, Colohue writes:

"I'm hearing that a lot of people in WWE management are furious that Dave Meltzer leaked backstage information about this week's Randy Orton storyline.' He added, "One person told me that they believe creative find it much harder to write when everyone already knows the ending."

If true, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Meltzer would tell you that he's got a good relationship with WWE and if this is the case, one has to wonder if leaking this kind of information changes that relationship.

WWE took a bit of chance by having a live-event match end early and the referree hold up the "X" symbol to signal that Orton couldn't continue. It was kind of like robbing the live audience of a match. But, it was all done to lead to an angle on Raw and WWE worked hard to hide it. One report for Meltzer spoiled the surprise for fans.

Fine Line Between Kayfabe And Reporting

Some reporters will argue nothing is off limits when it comes to reporting WWE news and rumors. Here at The Sportster, we get pooped on all the time by fans who don't want things spoiled and many of us try to let certain things play out as WWE would like.

Others will say that certain things don't require breaking kayfabe to share with fans. Where does the Orton storyline fall? That will certainly be up for debate.
