It was recently announced that NXT will hold a live event in Houston, Texas on November 17, 2017. At that show, Shawn Michaels is scheduled to appear as a special guest referee would be part of the match between Drew McIntyre and Adam Cole.

This is a huge development for NXT regardless of the show, but to have it take place at an untelevised live event/house show was a surprising bit of news.

The grouping of Michaels with these two NXT stars is not terribly out of left field. Michaels is currently one of the main guys in WWE development working specifically with NXT talent. He also happens to live in San Antonio, Texas. It could be as simple as the WWE seeing an opportunity to add a nice treat for the NXT live audience and make the moment memorable when Michaels was bound to be in attendance anyway.

Not everyone seems to agree.

The WWE had some public relations issues of late with independent wrestlers from Ring of Honor (ROH) and among those affected, the most vocal have been the independent tag team darlings The Young Bucks. Those two have never been shy about expressing their displeasure over all things WWE while WWE has not shied away from going after The Young Bucks for using gimmicks and ideas that are the intellectual property of WWE.

This news regarding Michaels was just another opportunity for the Young Bucks to lay the groundwork for a WWE conspiracy. Why? Well, ROH is holding an event in San Antonio on the same night but a different venue.

Both the NXT and ROH events happen Friday, Nov. 17, 2017—one night before TakeOver: War Games in Houston. If the WWE was looking for a way to take viewers from ROH and bring them to the NXT show, Michaels is one way of doing so.  And, of course, the Young Bucks think WWE is doing this intentionally. They might be right.

When things get ugly for Vince McMahon and Triple H, it makes sense that they would pull out a number of tricks to get the outcome they want.
