After a year-long hiatus, WWE and 2k Games developed the newest installment of the WWE 2k series on March 8th, 2022. The series' previous installment, WWE 2k20, was panned by fans, due in no small part to a number of in-game glitches ranging from mildly amusing falls to game-breaking crashes. The backlash from fans to the more severe issues led to a total revamp of the series. WWE 2k22 set out to provide improved gameplay and graphics to improve the fan experience.

The consensus after several months on the market is that WWE 2k22 is a significant improvement over its predecessor. The new game modes and improved graphics have been a hit with gamers. However, while the functionality is much improved, there are still some glitches that 2k is attempting to patch out. These are less game-breaking occurrences in the new series though, and instead, add a bit of humor to YouTube and wrestling Reddit.

10 The Broken Ladder Spot

Broken Ladder glitch

YouTuber Macho T posted a video playing online with a number of his fans in Money In The Bank ladder match. The online game started with the fairly common online lag issues. The glitch happens over a minute into the stream when he puts a fan through a ladder bridge on the outside.

After the frog splash, another player attempted their own and leaped into the wreckage. However, instead of hitting his opponent, the remains of the ladder bridge shot back into place fixing itself instantly and sending everyone in the area into the floor as the match continued.

9 Superstars Trapped By The Ring

John Cena ring glitch

Any fan of WWE knows that nothing good happens underneath the ring. Superstars need to be wary of the stockpile of weapons, unwanted visitors, and the occasional gateway to Undertaker's evil dimension located just below the mat. In WWE 2k22, the underside of the ring can be an equally dangerous place.

Several gamers, in this case, Delzinski have posted YouTube videos of superstars falling partially through the ring mid-match. Usually lasting a matter of seconds, the wrestlers begin to collapse down into the ring. In the video, it's John Cena who comedically slithered around the ring as the referee looks on. Often the glitch resolves itself by spending the superstar through the ring and to the outside. Then the match resumes as if nothing had happened.

8 You Can't See Me

Since the time before social media, wrestling fans and their friends would poke fun at WWE legend John Cena's iconic catchphrase of "you can't see me." The line, like Cena's implied invisibility, is lame fun for a good laugh for social media. However, one glitch posted online from WWE 2k22 lets you know the experience of facing an invisible opponent.

One player posted a clip on YouTube where his custom wrestler is in the middle of a match when Baron Corbin's opponent falls through the corner off the screen. One glitch leads to another as the ring ropes shake, and an invisible force, presumably Corbin, enters the ring and powerbombs the player through a table and finishes the match completely unseen.

7 Float Over Referee

In professional wrestling, a referee bump is a tried and true spot, typically a sign of some underhanded techniques to come that would result in disqualification. That mechanic wasn't added in the WWE games on purpose, but the referee can still take a shot from one of the competitors. Like one television, a downed official is unable to call the match.

One of the glitches reported in the game, though, has the referee float up when needed even after being knocked out, resulting in a funny visual for players. With this glitch, the game isn't really delayed, making the harmless little visual even more entertaining.

6 Fall and Pray

The adage goes, it's not the fall that gets you; it's the landing. Amazing maneuvers from the top turnbuckle look incredible in WWE 2k22, with the team of developers making the impact between wrestlers or the wrestler and the ground. Unfortunately, the sights and sounds of these maneuvers are so good that the character usually ends up in a head when the move itself glitches out.

Users have posted countless videos of their crash landings to the internet. The videos are so numerous that they may be one of the most common glitches in the initial game's release. One perfect example of a goofy spill to the floor comes from Reddit, where users posted Roman Reigns seemingly phasing through the turnbuckle to the floor, not unlike Demon Finn Balor at Extreme Rules.

5 The Five-Second Pose

YouTuber Ricky J Sports posts a fair amount of WWE 2k22 content, especially around created characters. One video was designed to showcase his rumble ability, the Royal Rumble match on legend difficulty, and a very good community created Rick Rude but ended up providing viewers with a humorous glitch.

While going back and forth with two other created wrestlers, the player's Rude freezes in the center of the ring while the rest of the match happens. The video has already received nearly 20,000 views and features beloved characters like Naruto, adding to the entertainment value. Ravishing Rick's involuntary pose lasts for a bit over 5 seconds, when finally one of the other competitors gets to work on the helpless frozen superstar.

4 No Selling The Steel Steps

Steel ring steps are a dangerous weapon when wielded by an angry wrestler. They were even a stipulation match briefly to blow off feuds. It's one of professional wrestling's most protected spots, with most wrestlers selling a vicious attack in the steps for at least a week on television.

In WWE 2k22, the steps are equally devastating, except for one glitch that's been making the rounds on Reddit and YouTube. One player throws the ring steps at their opponent on the outside, and nothing happened. Instead, the steps bounce off the character, usually shooting straight back up.

3 Running Through The Competition, And Everyone Else

Like in real-world wrestling, when the bell rings a match between superstars begins. Maybe it's two created characters or a dream match only possible within the confines of 2k22. As the player runs the ropes, they don't bounce back, instead, they run right through past the announce table and into the crowd.

A glitch shared on Reddit features this exact scenario, where the player can run through anything and everything in the arena or even the WWE Performance Center. It can be loads of fun to run away as your opponent wildly swings at the barricade behind you. Unlike so other glitches in the game, this one can happen without warning, but it gets a pop from most gamers, especially in exhibition mode.

2 A Surprise Return

Playing as your favorite WWE superstar and booking the matches that WWE won't or can't is the primary appeal of every WWE game and especially the 2k series, which emphasizes realism and simulation over fantasy stories and arcade graphics. When the roster is outdated, players can end up disappointed when they can't play as their favorite character.

Not playing as the wrestlers you love doesn't need to be because of massive roster cuts. In one video short posted on YouTube, a match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar ends when Reigns is tossed through a table. In an instant, Lesnar disappeared, and in his place, Finn Balor appears. The video suggests that this was supposed to be a MITB cash-in from the game's Universe Mode, but the cutscenes and sounds never started. Instead, he just appeared in an instant attacking Reigns and making it appear that Brock became Finn.

1 Dakota Kai is Flying High

A clip posted on r/WWEGames showed a Dakota Kai specific glitch, giving Kai her second straight viral glitch in as many years. Fans of the games may remember the Dakota duck walk across the ring, which became synonymous with the generally glitchy nature of 2k20.

This year's Kai clip shows the NXT star hitting the ropes for a top rope suicide dive onto the outside. Instead, the character hits the skies and sails over her intended targets, diving into the crowd. While this glitch would be more dangerous for Kai to replicate, it was a hilarious follow-up to her viral glitch from the last game.
