The main attraction of John Cena is that he's this larger-than-life figure that appeals to fans around the world, especially to young children. There's a reason why he's gotten countless gigs in non-WWE TV and movie roles, even going back to the early years of his career when he starred in WWE's film The Marine. John Cena Was The Perfect Choice To Host 'Wipeout'

For those who may not know about the show, Wipeout is a game show that started airing on TBS in April 2021. This specific reality show may be familiar to those who grew up watching a similar game show with the same title that aired on ABC from 2008 to 2014. Basically, Wipeout on TBS is a reboot from the ABC version.

From the previous ABC version, to the modern version that airs on TBS, Wipeout is one of the more notable game shows that people, to this day, remember. Considering that Wipeout is family-oriented, as it appeals to almost all ages, one could argue that John Cena's the perfect choice to host such a game show. Getting John Cena to host the rebooted version of Wipeout was an ideal scenario to attract more viewers.

Considering the TBS version of Wipeout is similar to the ABC version from 2008, the game show's rules are simple to understand. TBS's Wipeout consists of three rounds where twenty-four participants endure a physically-grinding obstacle course. Those with the shortest time to complete their obstacle course move on to the next round. In each round, the obstacle courses become more difficult as the game processes, with participants getting eliminated each round until the last participant stands. In the final round, the game concludes with the remaining four participants competing to win $50,000 in the most difficult challenge yet.

What's unique about Wipeout is that the obstacle courses are at an insane water park, where the participants usually get very wet when grinding through it. Trying not to get hit by water park themed objects, the participants try their best to make it across the obstacle courses without falling into the water.

John Cena's Humor Makes 'Wipeout' More Fun

It's worth noting the obstacle courses change in each episode to something more creative, as it's a way to make the show surprising and goofy for the audience to enjoy. It ties into the fact that the attraction of the show is not only that it's an athletic game show but also provides comedy at the same time. Much like the ABC version, where the hosts commentate on the competition in a humorous light, John Cena and Nicole Byer do the same thing for the TBS version. With John Cena's reputation for having a sense of humor, commentating on a goofy game fits him naturally.

As John Cena's credibility in the entertainment industry is thriving like never before, Wipeout is only one example of his many gigs on TV. Even if John Cena never returns to in-ring action in WWE, as his last bout was against Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2021, that doesn't mean one will have a difficult time finding him on TV. For wrestling fans who especially enjoy goofy game shows, they may get a kick out of John Cena's hosting of Wipeout.
